  1. Supply and demand at its finest. I guess there is our answer to our increase for this year. Add 92 to last year's total and walah!
  2. Kind of like a untplaymaker hurricane warning.
  3. Why in the world did he run out of bounds on the onside kick he recovered?
  4. Really? Then why didn't any of the QB's check out of a running play when the defensive had 8-10 in the box? Why didn't the QB check out of a 3rd and 25 draw play? I could go on and on, but it appears the answers are in the immediate posts above.
  5. In my days at Denton High, the thought of being sent to see Coach Collins was enough to get me to walk the straight and narrow. He was a great man, the same Collins the new DISD stadium is rightfully named after, that everyone respected. Plus, I knew whatever punishment I received at school would be minimal compared to what my parents would do when they found out I got in trouble. There's the problem. Most parents expect the school to raise their children, yet they are the first to yell at the top of their lungs when their child is disciplined. It is ridiculous and the reason I chose not to become a teacher/coach.
  6. That's why Flanigan didn't want him. RF's quarterbacks were forbidden from making reads or checks at the line. Now where is RF coaching these days?
  7. After the DD era, I would just be happy working the middle of the field with the passing game. Throwing jump balls to JQ and outs to everyone else was too predictable.
  8. I would be disappointed with this amount. I would expect us to fill at least half of their stadium considering it is only a half an hour from our campus.
  9. I would love to see a diagram of that play.
  10. "I guess" that Madison Square Garden has the resources, like many other arenas that host both NCAA and pro basketball, to have separate floors. For example, one floor is installed for an NCAA game then pulled up and another installed for the NBA game. Again, this is not feasible at North Texas where the men and women play on the same floor causing additional lines to be painted on the only court available.
  11. I'll introduce an interesting find, or finds, weekly up until fall practice. Here are this weeks additions. Football Grill And for the Serious Tailgater: Grillin' and Chillin'
  12. We don't play in a pro arena, and don't have the money for two seperate floors, one for the men and one for the women.
  13. Agree with emmitt here. I hope ASU whips their @$$!
  14. Notice the running back from Hugo, Derrick Locke, signed with NEO. OldTimer had him listed as a prospect for us. Guess he either didn't have the grades, or we placed him there. Hope we still have a relationship with NEO, as there are a number of players in this game heading there.
  15. So, the current line will stay on the court for the women, and a new line will be painted on for the men? Seems this will lead to a lot of confusion.
  16. The first two problems aren't the main responsibility of the Sun Belt, they are the problems of those that support these institutions. Don't like our fanbase or budget? Buy tickets, invite a friend and join the Mean Green Club.
  17. This was an upset based on seedings only. The Warriors swept the Mav's in the regular season too.
  18. Really? I seem to recall a home game a couple of years ago against a New Mexico State team that "the rest of the real world fans" don't really care about where we had 20,000 plus. We need to get to a point where are alumni, students and fans come to the games to see NT play. It shouldn't matter who the opponent is. Really? Are you sure they don't consider the WAC a dying conference? Well, maybe not dying, but it is geographically out of sorts and requires a whack load of cash to travel in. You do realize that the Sun Belt is a 30 year old conference that only added football in 2001, don't you? That would explain the South Alabama's and UALR's being in the conference while not offering football. I believe the SBC is being geographically selective in adding members while requiring they play D1A football. Stebo, you do realize that ULM played against us in the Southland conference don't you?
  19. Good Lord. Where do you think these teams are going to move to? By the time conferences realign, if this even happens, the SBC may have bypassed a few of these conferences. Besides, the conferences that are expanding look far beyond conference affiliation when selecting schools. Things like facilities, media market and program support play a much larger role than conference affiliation.
  20. Excellent post, and the reason why we don't want this game to materialize. Why does Dallas go after these two schools? They are far enough away that fans will have to stay in Dallas hotels, eat/drink in Dallas establishments, etc... North Texas and other "local" schools don't provide the added economic benefit that these schools provide.
  21. I think to be a "limbo conference," the SBC would have to have teams dropping back down to 1AA, which hasn't occurred. The SBC has been the "entry to 1A football conference" for a few schools, FAU, Troy, WKU, but that is due to infancy of the conference. The MAC and WAC won't add teams unless a larger conference comes along and steals a few current members, and the SBC is in the same boat now. As FFR stated, "The MAC is in it's 45th season. It took it 16 years before it had two teams qualify for bowl games." The SBC did this in 3 years, which is pretty impressive in my book. The quality of play is much improved over the 2001 season, as is attendance across the conference. The SBC would have been manhandled by CUSA back then, so winning 4 of 7 in our sixth year as a conference is impressive. My point is that we should support the conference we are affiliated with and help build its national reputation. We should also position ourselves to be ready should a bigger, more established conference come calling in the future, and part of this positioning is building the reputation of the SBC.
  22. Apples to oranges. So. Alabama has a pretty good basketball history and is in a stronger conference than the schools mentioned above, well at least UTA and Lamar, with Pacific possibly being an equal.
  23. I think you are taking this out of context. I believe that he would have handled the firing of Landry better and not been seen with Jimmy eating mexican food the with Jimmy the night before Landry was let go.
