  1. I work in the construction industry and the price of steel has already exploded. It started going up about 2 months ago and has tripled in that time. We were also just informed by our concrete suppliers that the cost per yard was increasing effective July 7th by $6.00 per yard and the fuel surcharge for delivery was doubling. Oh, and asphalt suppliers are no longer guaranteeing the price of their material beyond the day they provide the quote. A week ago Friday the price increased 11% alone.
  2. Uh, I believe a baseball stadium project was next in line after the football stadium issue was addressed.
  3. We played those teams in the Big West and it was a failure. The WAC has damn near bankrupted La Tech because of the ridiculously highly travel costs and would do the same to NT, plus I like to be able to read about our road games in the Sunday paper, not on some back page of the Monday edition that is full of Cowboys' analysis. We have enough misled and confused NT fans that support a move to the WAC without some SBC hating ex-MUT coming on here and poking the fire. What has the SBC done for NT? We played in four straight bowl games that provided recognition and publicity that our university had never received. Our success allow us to generate donations that helped build a new Athletic Center and a new tennis center. The SBC has allowed us to play on ESPN2 in four consecutive bowl games and on ESPN regional during the season. Go fight your fight somewhere else.
  4. Take your ball and go play somewhere else. The MUTS board seems like the place you need to discuss your issues. Your rants have nothing to do with North Texas.
  5. Thank goodness NT had the foresight to copyright the name Mean Green.
  6. Latex, correct?
  7. Nicely played, although Big Sam would have also butchered Fitzgerald and Fentress.
  8. Hasn't this been discussed at great lengths is past threads throughout the years? Interstate Batteries Jolly Green Giant Sam Moon Peterbilt Southwest Airlines Tina Yothers
  9. Does anyone know what Gill's weight is up to? He is still listed at 235, which I believe was his weight at the beginning of last year.
  10. I anticipated this reply, and all I can say is that Vizza has performed in this offense and performed in a similar offense in high school. Meager didn't have the track record that Vizza has. Also, Vizza has demonstrated incredible poise and leadership considering he is only a sophmore.
  11. I don't have it in front of me, but in DCTF Dodge states that Vizza is his quarterback.
  12. Nice list. I would also add Red Skelton, Red Foxx and Foster Brooks.
  13. The other factor is to remember that DeLoach like to rotate his DL, so the two deep will be critical to our improvement. I think a majority of the defensive backfield issues last year were scheme related, so I have no idea who to count on back there. I do think Bush has the talent to start as long as he, and all the returning DB's, can burn last year from their memory. DE's: Gilmore and Horton starting with Russo, Brown and Davenport as back-ups. I know Brown is listed as a DT, but at 255 he's more suited to DE and am strictly guessing that he may end up there. Marquis Sykes could also be a factor here. DT's: Miller and Ross starting with Thomas and Desoto as back-ups. Stewart and Scoggins provide depth LB's: Roberson, Mahan and Penson starting. Nwgiwe, Padron and Warren as backups. CB's: Bush and Adams starting with Nurudeen and Donte Neal as backups S: Hill and Edwards starting with Garden and Agbottah as backups.
  14. Best of luck to him this year. Maybe we'll see him in green in a few years.
  15. How about taking your MT hate to the MUT's board?
  16. Why does ESPN even have Stephen A. Smith on the air?
  17. I live and work in NW Houston, Champions/1960 area, and have attended a few game watching parties at SRO near 610 & 290 but that is about all I hear about from the Execs down here. I know they had a scholarship dinner, but I didn't find out about it until the last minute. I would be willing to work on an alumni list or even help with the Exec chapter down here. I'm not sure what area this chapter covers, but the Houston area alone is about as big as the entire Metroplex, so you can imagine the difficulty in getting people to become active when it covers the "Gulf Coast."
  18. The WAC was a better conference, thus it does have a better historical reputation much like SMUt and their reputation of being in the SWC. Many people hang on to the past and are blind to the future.
  19. Dead: Richard Pryor, George Carlin Live: Stephen Wright, Conan O'Brien, "Old" Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Bill Cosby, Kevin James
  20. La Tech saw what ULM did to Alabama last year and knows a defeat at the hands of the Warhawks will kill their perceived recruiting advantage.
  21. Congratulations on Lil' Scappy! Truer words were never spoken. Mine are 6 and almost 3 and it seems like yesterday when they entered the world and changed mine forever.
  22. Why would there be a need to already start planning a bus trip to Houston? Seems to me, this could be pulled together in a few weeks, even after school starts. That just doesn't make sense.
  23. No even close to accurate.
