  1. The trains appear to be safe to ride, as in there isn't any violence on board, etc... The issue is much what Dallas went through when DART started running trains downtown. Folks driving cars don't pay attention, much worse in Houston, and run in front of trains and so forth. The Metro train system in Houston is a good deal and as stated prior, runs from downtown to the Herman Park area which is very close to Rice.
  2. Well, actually there is nothing wrong with that.
  3. I read the same thing on the internet, so now I know it is true.
  4. Another option for those of you wanting to make a weekend of it is to stay down in Kemah, about 30 minutes south of town. Info. on Kemah
  5. Denton RC
  6. I would think that hotels downtown are about the same distance, or maybe a little closer, to Rice as the ones in the Galleria area.
  7. As FFJ stated, it is on the opposite side of Houston. I live in the same area as FFJ and it is just a few minutes from our homes. My advice? Come down on Friday, exit Beltway 8 West off of I45 on the north side of town and go to the horse track Friday evening, or stopped by on your way out of town on Sunday. Here's the website for the horse track: www.shrp.com
  8. Change Snyder to Dodge in the post above. Winning solves many issues.
  9. Good read. Sorry, but I must ask: In stating "UNT has hired a five tar coach," is Fry complimenting us?
  10. Nothing like telling a kid he is too good, so he can't play. Total B.S. There were many good pitchers when I played youth league baseball and some we didn't think we could hit, but at least we tried and eventually succeeded. Today, if you can't do it, well then why even try. Unbelievable! 9 Year Old Told He Can't Pitch Because He Is Too Good
  11. I'll second that. Be in by dark, not a good area.
  12. Yes, in football. Look it up.

  14. I'm disappointed they arrive so out of shape. Do they still have a redshirt year to utilize? I think these two could be great OL, if...IF, they can get in shape.
  15. Love the comment section. That can't even agree.
  16. Shiner. St. Arnold's produces great beer and are located in Houston. Couple of Rice grads started it up a few years ago. They are heavily involved in Houston area charitable events. A recent Texas Highways had an article on TX. breweries and they were highlighted along with Rahr's in Ft. Worth and a couple others. Lone Star is disgusting. Keystone Light from my poor college days.
  17. I would say that Montreal got ripped off: World's Most Expensive Stadium Article: Click Photo Link
  18. Glad to see you decided to keep you positive outlook after the cookout. Fentriss left due to his lingering knee injury, not grade related. Horton, well, he didn't take care of business at his JUCO, so how could the AD staff be responsible for him? I would guess that many coaches rely on the input they receive from the JUCO coaches when they are recruiting these young men. Gilmore either struggles academically or just doesn't care about hitting the books. He did the same under DD and makes me wonder if we landed him because he was questionable academically like a few others that were highly skilled athletically but not so academically
  19. The Meager post is classic.
  20. He was responding to MCMLXXX's response to your wheel's off post above.
  21. Oh, I don't think it went over anyone's head. I just think we all don't see the Dodge's thinking that way. I was also disappointed that Dallas Green has apparently gone back to his negative ways.
  22. What position do you think he will play? NT is loaded at WR and DB. Plus, I just don't see them risking injury to run a few plays at another position.
