  1. A lot of coaches. It's called opportunity, and no coach has ever turned down an opportunity to coach a D1 football program.
  2. by the time he graduates. Williams making adjustments
  3. Queing FFR's photo in 3, 2, 1...
  4. Oops. Meant MLS. Now the old Sidekicks games were entertaining. They should bring that back.
  5. I did this to my wife and got slapped last night! Back on track: Wish I could make it up from Houston, but a family reunion for the in-laws and a work committment have me stuck here. Great idea Rick.
  6. They should offer that an hour or so before every home game in the stadium and for a small fee. Kids would eat this up and it would force people into the stadium prior to the second quarter.
  7. Buyouts are b.s. Why should a school have to pay off a coach that doesn't produce? Does this happen in any other line of work? Regarding Deloach, I really don't know how he would manage the program. I don't see Deloach as a "Dickey guy," but one that will do things his way.
  8. Here are my concerns about the current situation: 1. It appeared during the Rice game that the team quit trying. They also came out at the start of the game and after halftime with absolutely no emotion. This all points to issues with the coaching. Players will put forth the effort for a coach they respect. It appears that either the players don't respect their position coaches or Dodge himself. 2. The is a lot of smoke around this program right now, and where there is smoke, there is usually fire. I played off the racism charge last year as two disgruntled players trying to get back at the coach, and that may still be true. Now we see our second leading receive leave the team in the middle of the year which leads me to believe there is more to this story than is being published, Dodge's own high school players that he recruited leave the team for "medical reasons" then pop up at a different school ready to play, the assistants have been off limits to the media since day one and it appears through various grumblings that some of our most experienced assistants are unhappy and we are being told that things will get much worse before they get better. 3. I have concerns about Dodge's ego. Sure, successful coaches, or any successful person for that matter, have big egos which typically drive their success. I'm just afraid that Dodge won't be able to swallow some pride and admit he has made some mistakes along the way. It appears that he is losing the team and some of the coaches and clearing the air could do some good, but I'm afraid his ego may keep him from doing this. I hope I'm wrong, but I support these young men that made the decision to play for my university and want to see them succeed. I think Dodge deserves another year, but if there are fundamental problems that are hurting the program as a whole due to his conduct, then he should be gone after this season.
  9. Just one correction of the blog, they state Johnson is a freshman while he is actually a JUCO transfer and will be a Jr. this year.
  10. Great game last night from start to finish. Hey KRAM1, the paint drying championships are on ESPNIII tonight. The preempted MISL to bring you something more entertaining.
  11. There is something fundamentally wrong with having a signature line longer than your posts.
  12. I would say that NT saw some progress and was competitive in Dodge's first year also. Year 2 has been a different story.
  13. Hogue?
  14. Baseball: Rangers, Astros, Cubs Pro Football: Cowboys, tryin to support the Texans but am apathetic towards them. Used to like the Oilers Pro Basketball: Mavs Hockey: Stars Soccer: UNT Women, other than that, could care less College Sports: North Texas Grew up in Denton so I like the DFW teams. Like the Astros and liked the Oilers because they were NL or AFC and could only really face the Rangers or Cowboys for the chamionship, in which I would pick the Dallas teams. Hate the Rockets because they've always been in the Mavs division. Cubs fan, because my sister lived in Chicago for a while and I was able to attend one of their games, plus they were always on television when I was a kid.
  15. There are some great comments on there. I especially liked this one:
  16. Love you to, but not enough to erect a 9 ft. bronze statue of you like Quoner has of JQ's most intimate parts.
  17. That's an interesting idea, but I don't think there is a frontage road on that part of I35W.
  18. I read the post to state: 1. You are happy the student's voted in the athletic fee. 2. The team is in the ditch at 0-7 and there are no signs of improvement. 3. This team totally sucks in every facet of the game. 4. You see no reason to burn a Saturday at Fouts, or even tune into the MGRN when NT is on the road. I take #4 to mean you aren't going to the game and you aren't listening to the away games. Guess I was confused. I apologize for the misunderstanding, and I'll proceed to chill out.
  19. If it wasn't for the fullback's lead block on this play, Hackett would have had a tackle for loss.
  20. I think the point I was trying to make, in a hurry, is this. Our team doesn't need to hear, "They Suck" from the fans, the AD, their fellow students, etc... I went to the Rice game and was as disappointed in their performance as the next fan, but what does yelling "You Suck" do for them? I played sports when into my early 20's and know that if I heard the fans of my team yelling "You Suck" or not even caring enough to show up and support the team, then I wouldn't be quick to embrace them when they were wanting to buddy up when times were good. Sure, they are old enough to handle it, but it get's old after a while. It is much easier to work hard and improve when you have the support of your fans. I would just like to see our fanbase support the team through thick and thin. I have never left a game early, although the Rice game almost became the first. It wasn't fun to watch, the players did not appear motivated, but I had players parents around me so I stayed to support the team. Agree or not, this team is young, needs time to mature and adjust to the college game. Troy Franklin is one of our highest rated recruits this year and he's playing significant minutes, but has anyone stopped to realize he's made the jump from 3A high school ball to D1 college ball in one year? Same for Darien Williams. The jump from 5A is tough enough. Let's show these young men (the entire team) some support and have fun watching them improve over the next few years.
  21. The person in charge of setting the schedule thought it was just some guy named Troy.
  22. It was noted that this ref is a graduate of Kentucky and played linebacker for them back in the early 70's. Looks to still be in fighting form!
