  1. I would say that NT saw some progress and was competitive in Dodge's first year also. Year 2 has been a different story.
  2. Hogue?
  3. Baseball: Rangers, Astros, Cubs Pro Football: Cowboys, tryin to support the Texans but am apathetic towards them. Used to like the Oilers Pro Basketball: Mavs Hockey: Stars Soccer: UNT Women, other than that, could care less College Sports: North Texas Grew up in Denton so I like the DFW teams. Like the Astros and liked the Oilers because they were NL or AFC and could only really face the Rangers or Cowboys for the chamionship, in which I would pick the Dallas teams. Hate the Rockets because they've always been in the Mavs division. Cubs fan, because my sister lived in Chicago for a while and I was able to attend one of their games, plus they were always on television when I was a kid.
  4. There are some great comments on there. I especially liked this one:
  5. Love you to, but not enough to erect a 9 ft. bronze statue of you like Quoner has of JQ's most intimate parts.
  6. That's an interesting idea, but I don't think there is a frontage road on that part of I35W.
  7. I read the post to state: 1. You are happy the student's voted in the athletic fee. 2. The team is in the ditch at 0-7 and there are no signs of improvement. 3. This team totally sucks in every facet of the game. 4. You see no reason to burn a Saturday at Fouts, or even tune into the MGRN when NT is on the road. I take #4 to mean you aren't going to the game and you aren't listening to the away games. Guess I was confused. I apologize for the misunderstanding, and I'll proceed to chill out.
  8. If it wasn't for the fullback's lead block on this play, Hackett would have had a tackle for loss.
  9. I think the point I was trying to make, in a hurry, is this. Our team doesn't need to hear, "They Suck" from the fans, the AD, their fellow students, etc... I went to the Rice game and was as disappointed in their performance as the next fan, but what does yelling "You Suck" do for them? I played sports when into my early 20's and know that if I heard the fans of my team yelling "You Suck" or not even caring enough to show up and support the team, then I wouldn't be quick to embrace them when they were wanting to buddy up when times were good. Sure, they are old enough to handle it, but it get's old after a while. It is much easier to work hard and improve when you have the support of your fans. I would just like to see our fanbase support the team through thick and thin. I have never left a game early, although the Rice game almost became the first. It wasn't fun to watch, the players did not appear motivated, but I had players parents around me so I stayed to support the team. Agree or not, this team is young, needs time to mature and adjust to the college game. Troy Franklin is one of our highest rated recruits this year and he's playing significant minutes, but has anyone stopped to realize he's made the jump from 3A high school ball to D1 college ball in one year? Same for Darien Williams. The jump from 5A is tough enough. Let's show these young men (the entire team) some support and have fun watching them improve over the next few years.
  10. The person in charge of setting the schedule thought it was just some guy named Troy.
  11. It was noted that this ref is a graduate of Kentucky and played linebacker for them back in the early 70's. Looks to still be in fighting form!
  12. I never stated that it was wrong to be upset with the product on the field. What I am saying, and how I think you are "shooting the bird at your school," is by not going to the game. Lack of support has been the problem of this team forever. Guess we are even, because it bugs the hell out of me to have fair weather fans. First to jump on the bandwagon when all is right and good and first to jump off when things aren't going as planned. Tone and mood don't bother me, not showing up and supporting North Texas does.
  13. I have been guilty of this in the past, but it seems to be worse this year. What is it? Being highly critical of our team, saying our team sucks, threatening to not come to a game until they stop sucking, etc... I started thinking about this recently and have the following thoughts/opinions. What good does this do? Do you think comments of this nature make these 18-22 year old young men, that signed to represent your school, want to perform for North Texas? Do you start to understand why Dickey used the bunker mentality? Do you start to understand, whether it was right or wrong, for Dickey to refer to us fans as MF'ers when addressing the team a couple of years ago. These young men need our support right now. They don't need some knucklehead running over above their "tunnel" shouting derogatory comments at them as they leave the field at halftime. What they do need is our support. We've all seem to have forgotten that these young men were all highly recruited and were rated as our best recruits in a long time, and that they chose to come here based upon the potential of the program. Let's give these young men our support and stop the derogatory comments. On the other hand, the coaching staff should be held accountable for preparing these young men to be successful on the football field. They are currently struggling with, IMHO, adjusting to the college game and playing many young players that should have the benefit of a couple of years to mature. I know many posters don't share this opinion, but I found it interesting that Colt McCoy stated that he has finally felt like the game has slowed down for him this, his Jr., year. The point of this post. I would suggest that we all support this team respectfully and to the best of our ability and give them the time to mature. I know that when I was 19, if I would have heard adults/students in the stands yelling that we sucked, or posting on a message board that we sucked and weren't going to waste their day watching me play, I probably wouldn't have cared enough to put forth my best effort. That's just the mindset of that age group. Support these young men, support the program and Go Mean Green. Fire away.
  14. Ahh, the voice of reason. Of course, the voice of reason has no place on this board.
  15. I've watched this a couple of times and it has to be intentional. LSU vs. South Carolina
  16. We've had some "issues" with professors from the opposing team's university talking smack. Click the TYSports link in Quoner's signature line and read up on what some sports crazed professors at FIU and La-Lafayette had to say.
  17. Tell me what not attending a game and bad-mouthing a bunch of 18-22 year olds is accomplishing? I just think it is wrong when an alumni states that they have no use for going or listening to a game. I don't think I'm on a pedestal, but I will jump down when you stop shooting the bird at your school.
  18. Loved the response to anonymous. Seemed to shut him up pretty quick.
  19. Now that's the kind of support NT needs. How's the "fair weather?"
  20. He's a redshirt freshman from a small high school. Give him time.
  21. Funny, Quoner has a nine foot bronze of Johnny Quinn that he rubs every time he leaves home.
  22. First off, I am pissed that I have now reached the age to be referred to as an "older alum." Coach Mitchell was a great man that remained tied to North Texas after his retirement. I grew up with many of his grandchildren, and he was a great man and deserves to be recognized.
