Roll Call For The Snake Pit. And Will It Be Packed ?
UNTLifer replied to calvin's topic in Mean Green Basketball
The commute from Houston is just too much although I considered it. My brother, who hasn't been to a NT game in probably 15 or 20 years is going and bringing his two boys, because he remembers how much fun games in The Pit were as kids. He wants his boys to experience it, and I hope they get hooked on NT basketball and start attending again on a regular basis. -

There's the answer. You got married, wives spend money, Amex is protecting you. Good for Amex. -
Not the kind of offense Tech is currently running. UT has one loss, to Tech. Tech is undefeated, so not sure how they have a better loss than USC. USC doesn't have the offense to score enough to beat UT or Tech and USC's defense has not been tested this year. Sorry, but an annual out of conference schedule that currently includes Notre Dame, not good, and Ohio State, overrated every year yet good in the unathletic Big 10, does nothing for me. USC is not near as good this year as in year's past. Full Disclosure: I hate USC and Pete Carroll.

From the Houston Chronicle this morning: Congratulations Casey!

My hats off to all of the veterans that have ever served our country. You all deserve more than one day of recognition.

Tech, UT and Florida are the three best teams in the nation. USC isn't even top 5 in my book. Sure they've only given up 60 points, but who have they played? The state of Washington is horrible, UCLA is down, the state of Arizona is weak. They played a good offense in Oregon State and got beat. For clarification: I hate USC and Pete Carroll.

Here it is.

Regarding Christianity and the Bible's take on marriage, same sex couples/marriage is a sin, so I wouldn't think he would condone this behavior. What Does the Bible Say? The biblical teaching on sex is not merely negative. Contrary to popular belief (admittedly fostered by some Christians over the years), sex in biblical thought is not sin. It is sex outside the proper relationship that constitutes sexual sin. That relationship, according to the Bible, is the husband-wife relationship.

That is why the encourage families to take their children to the children's area during the service for age appropriate lessons. I met Ed when I worked for a health club in Irving in the early 90's. Ed and his family were members, and he came in daily. I remember the conversation when he told me he was a pastor and invited me to his church. This was the same guy that I'd talked sports, professional wrassling, fishing, etc... with on a daily basis. I did a quick rewind to try and remember if I had told him an inappropriate joke or not. Anyway, I visited his church and really liked his message but had a tough time getting used to the style of service, because I had grown up in a very traditional church in Denton and this was in 1992 before they even built the current facilities. Anyway, I visited with Ed and really liked how he was approaching the "church thing." His idea was everyone that attends Cowboys, Rangers, Stars or Mavs games want to sit on the front row, courtside, but at church everyone wants to slide in the back pew, hear the message, chalk up their weekly attendance and be on their way. He wanted a service where people would want to sit on the front row, where people didn't want to leave when the message was over and a place where people looked forward to coming on a weekly basis. Too bad that is "out of the box" thinking when it comes to religion, but too many of us were raised to believe that true worship should be quiet, boring, hymnal/pipe organ music, etc... and the results speak for themselves. Twindling attendance across the board. Ed started a church conference in probably 1994 that I volunteered to work. About 20 pastors attended from around the area to hear how, at the time, Fellowship of Los Colinas put together a worship service, structured Sunday School and children's programs, etc... The last year I volunteered for this conference was 2005 and around 2,000 church leaders from all of the U.S. and Canada attended. Sure, marketing is a big reason they attract people, but the message, programs, service, etc... are what have kept them coming back. I admire him for what he has done and how he has led Fellowship Church. I know Fellowship Church's style isn't for everyone, and they would be the first to admit it. They just want people to attend somewhere.

Really? He's still listed on the roster.

Really? Just curious, and lazy, but what was DD's record his first two years?

Tech and Texas are the two best teams.

Coaching Change, Improvement, Recruiting
UNTLifer replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
Cutcliffe? Didn't he fail at Ol Miss? -
Lonnie, you make a lot of accussations about RV, the BOR and Dr. B. Do you have any proof or is this all opinion? Many coaches have better results with a well funded and supported program. Your points come across as those from someone with a personal issue. You act like NT has high $$ alumni growing on trees.

I think it is a positive article, honestly. Sure, he's had issues in the past, but he's working to stay out of trouble and looking forward to the future. I think this says alot about what type of player Dodge wants on his team and what he expects of his players as opposed to previous head coaches, and is an example of what TD would call victories that people haven't noticed. I hope Tobe stays on the right side of the law and turns out alright.

Agreed, but this was all pre-Flying Worm.

Was Bush Really That Bad?
UNTLifer replied to stebo's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Yes sir, Bush is a good man that tried to please too many and ended up handcuffing himself. Prime example, we don't fire on Islamic mosques yet we take fire from insurgents holed up where? In mosques. Politics and war don't mix. Too bad General Patton isn't still around to run things. -

Exhibit A on how to act, or should I say react, in a classy and dignified manner when things don't go the way you want them to. -
Nice, you think this was really needed in your post?
