  1. Well, since we shooting out "facts" let's not forget the following: America was not attacked by terrorist on our soil during the Clinton years. Clinton ignored terrorist attacks on American interests worldwide, USS Cole for instance. Maybe no one died during his fling with Monica, but acceptance of adultery by the leader of our nation is an unfortunate snapshot of our society today.
  2. Nope. I've never stated that it was alright to "get pummeled in the meantime," just pointing out that Stoops stated one of his recruits would need a little time to get up to the speed of D1 football. I don't compare our recruits to OU's as they are signing 4 and 5 star players to fill their classes. Most of our recruits need the time to adjust and unfortunately many were thrown in to the fire last year.
  3. Not even related to the point I was making. Then again, I expect you to spin things to fit your current agenda.
  4. Now, now fellow "Dodgebanger," don't go throwing facts at some of these arguements.
  5. My line of thinking on this was along the lines of shouldn't OSU spell Ohio State? What would UT think if A&M or Tech's bands decided to spell out Texas prior to their games? Well, maybe just Tech, not sure if the Aggies are good at spelling.
  6. Dodge has had essentially one year to recruit one class, 2008, because he only had two weeks to sign his first class in 2007. The 2008 class was rated highly by the "recruiting experts," in fact, it was rated as one of the best mid-major classes in the nation. Please tell me where the "blind faith" comes in. TD is publicly recruiting higher profile recruits than DD ever though about going after. But, for TFLF's sake, let's look at his two classes to evaluate the linemen he signed: 2007 Keep in mind that the were very few scholarship WR's on the roster when TD arrived, so he had to sign quite a few for his offense. Out of 18 recruits, 5 were linemen and 4 are still with the team. Jesse DeSoto: Was a reserve last year, but came to NT with impressive credentials. J.J. Johnson: All SBC Freshman center as a RS Kyle Russo: Starting by the end of 2008 and I also believe he garnered all SBC Freshman team honors as a DE. Jordan Scoggins: left the team. Matt Tomlinson: Injured for most of the last two years. He has the frame and his HS coach thinks he could be a sleeper and really develop, so I think it is too early to tell with him. Jacob Kaiser: Was picked up after signing day and is massive. RS is first year and is probably a project, but could turn out to be something his Jr. or Sr. year. 2008 26 recruits signed LOI's per Rivals.com and two never really made it to Denton, so the class essentially consisted of 25 players. Seven linemen were signed on National Signing Day. Mack Cole III was picked up later, Aaron Fortenberry was a walk-on all-stater from a small school, the young man from Aledo was brought in as a grayshirt, Sterling Carter was a walk-on from Houston and Dan Holt transferred in from Midwestern State. Tevinn Cantly: RS. Reports he could be the real deal, but having potential and realizing potential are two different things. Time will tell. Coleman Feeley: Starting on the OL by the end of the year and earned SBC All-Freshman Team honors. Troy Franklin: Not sure why we burned his shirt for so few plays, but has the potential to be a great one. Joe Hawthorne: RS. Hopefully will add some size to play DT or has the quickness to move to DE. Gabe Hollivay: JUCO starting by the end of the year at guard. Nate Jenkins: JUCO, too heavy to contribute last year. Hopefully he gets his weight under control, works hard during the off season and contributes these next two years. Jury still out on him. Nick Leppo: Gray shirt. Will count against 09 class. Horton was the highest rated recruit but couldn't qualify academically. Is this TD's fault? No, NT has always been in the position of having to take a flyer on a couple of recruits. Sometimes the players get their act together and contribute, Pegram and Buckles, and other times they don't, TJ Raymond and Alonzo Horton. Sure, in hindsight, I'm sure TD wishes he would have signed more linemen, but I think he addressed the pressing needs in the two classes above. Some dispute this, but DD's recruiting his last few years didn't leave much to work with in some areas. I still say this year is when TD should start being judged critically. This will be his second class, and most difficult to sign considering last year's performance. The players here will have three springs and two falls of practice to acclimate to his offensive system and his first class will now mainly be juniors. We have roughly one month to see how this year's signing class turns out. I say we give the coaches time to finish recruiting and see who we end up with before we start claiming failure.
  7. Now don't let your anti-UT bias show I still think UT deserved to be in the title game over OU. Who did USC beat this year besides Penn State? The PAC-10 was down this year. Of course, claiming full disclosure, I truly despise USC. I was shocked Beanie Wells didn't carry the ball more and think Ohio State could have won the game if they would have run it until UT proved they could stop them. Question: I know the OSU band spelling out OHIO and the dotting of the "I" are traditions, but shouldn't the University of Ohio be doing this and not OSU?
  8. I know this may be a shock to you all, but I agree with TFLF here. Well, with one exception that is, and I must ask TFLF a question regarding this: Please explain how his recruiting has been so bad taking into consideration he had roughly two weeks to put together his first class, and, in my humble opinion, it is way too early to judge last year's class? I give him a pass on his first class because of the time constraints and, although I don't agree with rating a class before they have played out their eligibility, last year's class was rated as one of the best by a "mid-major" in the country.
  9. The announcers mentioned that Stoops had commented about one of his recruits at OLB that was playing in this game should be really something in a year or two after he adjusts to the college game, being away from home, etc...
  10. I would like to see some proof behind the accusations posted on here, and yes, I honestly think they will be better.
  11. With all due respect to Troy, I think acceptance requires little more than spelling your name correctly.
  12. Jonah Bense: OL Damion Nobles: OL Another OL in Nobles class. Wasn't Terrence White a JUCO?
  13. I actually think this is the way to secure donations for the future. Why waste your time on a group that never gives when you can focus on your future almuni that has shown they care about NT?
  14. It's not a magic pill, it is called maturity and adjustment to the collegiate game, but you and TFLF are too full of hate towards TD and RV to admit this.
  15. Are you arguing for arguement's sake? You know what I mean. First off, remove the JUCO's from the equation since I was referring to freshmen. They, the JUCO's should contribute immediately. The majority of the HS signees you list played primarily ST. Let the kid's mature and then rank the entire class. There is a reason DCTF looks back and re-ranks each class 5 years later. I know Hill and Williams played most of the year in the secondary and that Feeley was starting by the end of the year, but they should have never been put in that position, at least in a program that has depth enough to redshirt a majority of the freshman class.
  16. You are absolutely correct that a class should not be rated this early, I was just responding to your comment that we are not recruiting as effective as SMU or TCU. The only point of reference are the recruiting experts and they all rated NT's class higher than the 2 privates and one of the top classes of any mid-major. I seem to recall the majority of this board being extremely excited about our recruiting too. My how opinions change, even when most of these young men have yet to set foot on the field. This board lives up to it's nickname more and more every day.
  17. Yes it is especially considering we don't have an opening. Plus, Dodge's last class was rated higher than either SMU's or TCU's.
  18. Every team fits these percentages, it is just that some teams have more freshman and sophmores in key positions than others.
  19. Wouldn't that be spelled duece?
  20. I would think being hired as the QB coach at NM is a step down from being the HC at NT, kind of like moving from the OC at one D1 school to the QB coach at another. That's kinda funny to me. I wish DD well.
  21. Welcome to North Texas and Denton Mr. Bean.
  22. They seem to do alright with the Rangers' games 81 times a year. What's the story with APD?
  23. I watched him in the final against FB Hightower and would agree with everything you said. I find it real hard to believe that he weighs anywhere close to 270.
  24. The fan is an idiot and James should have looked the other way. Jerry is having to sleep in the bed he's made. Wonder how comfortable that is?
  25. Here's a belated Merry Christmas to all.
