Pickens owns the insurance company! He would not make anything if they borrowed the $20mm money and invested it for 10 years, and keep in mind he is trying to start a "financing paradigm shift" to convince many other schools to do it too....just the way OSU does it, just the way they are all coming to them right now to find out how. And to your point, the premiums will have to be huge on those actuarial tables for such few people at that age, unless subsidized by all of the Small Joe policyholders. So all of you whole life and universal life holders, and fixed rate annuities better cash out now, cause the ROI from company investments is going to fund these new mega programs, your premium per thousand just went up, and your "vanishing premium" is never gonna happen, and that nest egg they promised you (even if 4% would do that!) will shortly be an annual negative return as the investment profits and premium overcharges are channeled into these programs as subsidies.

Understand there are two games on the schedule, all else has fallen through at this point. No word on prospects for additional games. I think we would be eligible for two more dates besides these two games. Sun Mar 11 UNT vs. TWU at UNT 2:00 pm Thurs Apr 5 UNT vs. UTD at UTD 3:00 pm

Yeah, I like the two or three color green approach on one hat...since I have 3-4 hats (including black) since I don't know what color is the oifficial color from day to day, game to game, season to season, ...or if I can find one.....I try to keep a selection so that game day color is close enough..... a standardized color scheme and logo?.....hmmmm pretty good idea.

I requested some updated info today. Schedule is somewhat informal at this point, I did have some info, but some of it is now obsolete. They have some target dates and locations to play, just do not know if they have confirmed participation. Most, with the exception of the Craig Ranch showcase were originally scheduled to be travel dates. Welcome to GMG and the UNT Soccer program.

Mixed results at A & M yesterday..overall, not real fit and generally sloppy effort, in part due to seemingly unfamiliarity with the 7 v 7 format in the early going. Played every other hour for four games. Tie vs SFA 1-1 Loss vs UTSA 5-2 Win vs Houston 3-0 Loss (EMBARRASSED) vs A & M stopped-counting-at 15- 1 Mighta been 20-1. A real old fashion buttkicking, we were schooled. Got better really as we played, played a solid first 10 minutes until we ran out of gas and effort and pride against a very deep and fit A & M team. UTSA was a recovery game from the first one, dominated 2nd half (was down 4-0 at half). Houston game was best effort, looked like second wind kicked in, dominated offense and defense. Worst piece was the finishing of ample opportunities we created. In all first three games it could have looked like the A & M game on our end of the scoreboard if we would have finished better. Long way to go..... next outing we need to see fitness improvement and better finishing. Beyond the sore backs and legs, no significant injuries...... Overall rating......

You know, I was going to do an analysis on NCAA qualifier womens teams that had benefit of men's teams on campus. Would surprise how much better those womens teams are that have men programs to train with or against. Never did it, guess I'll do that soon.... The UNT mens intramural club team was real good fall of 2005....My son was playing for SHSU intraclub in the 2005 fall and UNT ended up second I think in the inter-campus league (Tech won I think). But, it was a competitive team. Lot of local kids to choose from. Just not enough teams in this conference to play a conf sched. I think we would have a great team year over year in this recruiting region. Same as the girls have been. Blue chippers will always go East or West, but there are a lot of tier II men players that have nowhere to play and end their careers prematurely.

Well, first games are this weekend at A & M- 4 small sided games (Houston, Utep, A & M........and I think Tulsa?) Can't remember.....see you all there!!......Were supposed to go to UT in two weeks I think(again, going from a bad memory...) and were sched to play Tech and Ok St. That trip may not make I hear. The rest I really can't remember, but part of the reason it has not been published is that it is still somewhat fluid on the attendance and dates I think..... I do think we are scheduled to play in the Craig Ranch showcase/college tourney in March. I'll ask and pin this down for us all....including me.

This is an awesome class!! All were committed failrly early and stuck with it. the 90 class is already shaping up to be a good one too. I do not think they are done yet either for this year's class, maybe some key transfers, etc. Know more by summer I'm sure....

Make sure Zakel gets it too! Sometimes there is a lag time there......

been sick , was late with the letter I think, all is good today.......

Good deal, thanks for checking that.....Buzz is at least a week behind loading the list of players submitted.....that is a fine class from reputable LHGCL club teams. We also got the transfer player I hear, another ex-local from Big 12 team, great player too. Committed late last week. Looking at the lists published so far, we have a better class on paper than MUTS or WK. Denver landed a good player, but is the only one reported....

Make sure it is a BLACK costume......with an eagle-beak mask.....

Pidgeon RELOCATORS....the environmentalists would prefer ......we do not want the pub for knocking off the offending birds (see: City of Carrollton vs. Egrets, demolition of habitat)........that will get the press out to Denton for UNT coverage for sure.......sorry Harry, I'm off topic too!!

All three are top players, and there should be more that were supposed to commit this past week before holidays. Lackore is a real late find, believe she was supposed to be going to an SEC school (S.Fla or something). Huge pickup!! Woods is fast and skillful, another Juett-style player. Pollock is highly regarded defender. They are not done yet, this class is looking really good if the commits yet to post hold up. We should have two coming from Solar 89 (which is troubling they are not already on the list?? They were early oral commits), possibly a transfer from a Big 12 school, and two other local players I know were in the mix. Hope we can get the others listed soon.

I'd be happy with either one, wish we could have both. And I think we could support both pretty well too. Just that mens soccer would be harder to fill a schedule in the current conference, and travel sites for roadies would most likely be farther than most current sports. Baseball should be able to land some big OOC series each year and be competitive. One other thing I intend to do.....speaking of men's soccer and its importance. I am meaning to pull the Round of 32 and 16's from this years womens NCAA teams and see how many had men's programs. I'll do that in another post. I believe it is underestimated how significant a role mens soccer plays in pushing womens teams to the next level. Denver has that luxury..... I think it shows in the training benefit, the style of play, and the attendance. So in that regard, I'd like to see mens soccer aded at UNT.

UTD already has a 3 or 4 year old program and a field on campus. Not sure where SMU would play if they chose to open up a program. Reverschon is outdated for C-USA calibre, but continues to be kept up by 3rd party with help from the city. They cannot find room for a Bush library, much less a BB field, unless they used the HPHS field. It is not deep enough to hold the college game in my opinion, but a very nice field.

Have not had a chance to update the recruiting process for soccer lately, but interest has been strong among top local talent. Not a lot of detail to share yet, but the incoming class of 2007 is shaping up nicely. Team reportedly has oral commitments from several top area club D-I players (Sting, Solar and Defeeters), and decisions are due before end of year on a couple more. Based on the preliminary oral commitments it has been a very well rounded recruiting effort for defensive and attacking players. Should the results round out as is expected, this could be a very high regionally ranked recruiting class for UNT. The 2008 class is shaping up strong too, and the strength of the 2007 class commitments is helping that along. GMG Soccer!
