Use Texas State University on first reference and either Texas State University or Texas State on subsequent references (one or the other used consistently within your document). Texas State University-San Marcos now has the 3rd highest admission standards of any public institution in the state (excluding private universities). Unfortunately, it's still behind UT and A&M (for now). This information was personally given to me by Dr. Denise Trauth, president of Texas State.

UNTLifer, In 2003, Southwest Texas State University HAD it's name formally changed to Texas State University-San Marcos (they didn't even ask the alumni...but that's a whole different matter altogether). Boko
