  1. In the past two days Emmit has compared the UT football program to Satan and the KKK. Whats next? a Hitler analogy?
  2. Opps, double post. Sorry
  3. There's nothing wrong with being a fan of more than one team, especially if you are enrolled or work at that school. However, when it comes to SUPPORTING a team, i.e. buying season tickets, donations, etc... UNT should be your first loyalty.
  4. It's not that the WAC is a BAD conference, I liked the competition the first time we were in it and it was called the Big West!! It's the logistics of the WAC that are bad. Travel distance/exspense, games in western time zones, etc.... It's just not a good fit for us.
  5. This kinda thing happens at every school, every year. Didn't we have a player work his way back from knee surgery this year only to quit midseason because he was unhappy with his amount of playing time? And as far as transfers go, A coach may refuse to give a player a release. For example Mike Leach at Texas Tech won't give a player a release if he transfers to any school within the Big 12 or any other D-1 school in Texas.
  6. How about the Fightin' Spuds!!?
  7. Cerebus now that is delusional. You ought to know by know that Plumm and reality are seldom in the same area code together.
  8. Im going to be at the game too, where do you guys plan on sitting? SLC or Katy side?
  9. To be fair, eventhough he got access at other big time programs, none of those programs were preparing for the national championship game at the time. The media requests at this time of year for both Mack Brown and Pete Carrol have to be insane. Or maybe not... Just looking at the other side of things.
  10. Even if Bobcat Stadium had the same capacity of Fouts, 30k, they STILL would have averaged 12,517. And to reverse the point if Fouts seating was only 18k, we still would have averaged 16,446. They didn't fill their stadium to capacity so to argue their attendance suffered because of stadium size is invalid. But if your point is that by playing in a smaller stadium it creates the ILLUSION of a bigger crowd, well I'll agree with that. (Maybe we should play at the DISD stadium on Loop 288? Sure it only holds 12500, but we'd PACK the joint every game!! ) My point was that according to Ricks post there were some who said UNT went D1 and couldn't get anybody to our games. While we've had the worst season in years and they've had their best, we still managed to outdraw them.
  11. Tx State is just a big fish in the little pond of 1-AA, Although we are a small fish in the big pond, and with a pathetic 2-9 record with NO wins at home, UNT still averaged 16,446 attendance. What did TSU do with such a great season? Their reg season avg attendance was 12,517.
  12. Because of the increased population in this state, i.e. more schools/teams and a finite number of districts in each classification. A lot of good teams were staying home for the playoffs. In my day only 2 teams made the playoffs, there was no divisions. One particular year we finished the season 8-2 and third place in the district so we stayed home. Im not a fan of the division format, I think 3 teams should make the playoffs, give the district champion a bye in the first round.
  13. If you're asking for a prediction, then I think Bush will win. If you're asking who SHOULD win than I think Vince Young. Why? Beacause I believe Vince can do what Bush does, but Bush couldn't do what Vince does. Imagine them switching teams/positions. At USC Vince could play Bush's position and do phenoninal things and you wouldn't see much of a drop off. , however put Bush at QB at UT. Anybody think the Longhorns would be in the same position as they are today?
  14. Gotta dissagree with you there Coach, I think they should do it like basketball and have a predetermined site before the season even starts. Have it rotate around the state and all games there. Div 1 one weekend, Div II the next. Do the A, AA games on Friday night. The AAA, AAAA.AAAAA games on Saturday. If it's fair to do that in basketball, volleyball, baseball, wrestleing etc...why would it be so unfair in football???
  15. Each fraternity had a tent and was having a blast tailgating and partying. Just curious, but just what do you think our frats need to learn from the boys at Texas State??
  16. and I heard we got a hot new quarterback prospect for next year. His name is Rico. Rumor is that if his high school coach would have played in the 4th quarter they would have won state, No Doubt, No Doubt in my mind! Apparently he can thow a pass quarter mile and on a bet will throw a football over some mountains
  17. How refreshing would it be if we heard similar comments from the football coach?
  18. I wouldnt go so far as to call him a friend but I have known Dunham over 20 years going back to his student days when he was the play by play guy on KNTU for my high school football team. All I can say it is way out of character for him to "Verbally Assault" (your words, not mine) someone. There may not have been any cussing, but it's obvious your act was wearing thin with more than one person at Fouts and in some opinions you behavior was obnoxious. Had you said nothing to Dunham, I seriously doubt he would said anything to you, but you did initiate the contact so it's not surprising Dunham let you know his opinion of your schtick. If it offended you To BAD, You seem to be able to dish it out, but when someone gives it back to you, your so upset and have to categorize it as "Verbal Abuse" Does someone have the right to be negative, critical and loud at a football game. OF COURSE. You'd have to be naive to think that you won't here negative comments in the stands. You definately have a right to say what you want but Dunham also has a right to tell you his opinion of your act too. I think it's incredibly thin skinned to get bent out of shape when the critical comments are turned back on you. Just my $.02 Andrew Imm
  19. "Dodge was caught off guard when told about his name being among the potential candidates, saying “that’s news to me” and that he has no information about it. " What?! you mean someone could actually be named as a candidate for a job WITHOUT applying???? According to some on this board that NEVER happens. RV and Dickey had to be sending out applications all over the country to be named as possible candidates for other jobs.
  20. Dodge has said publicly he plans to stay at Southlake for two more years so he can coach his youngest son (who's now a sophomore) through his senior year. After that he said he'll start looking at moving to the college ranks. However, if he moved it wouldn't be the first time a coach took a job after saying he was happy where he was. Heck, Dodge moved around the high school ranks rather rapidly before he settled at SLC.
  21. www.neworleansbowl.org Check out the New Orleans Bowl web site. Wyndham's name is nowhere to be found. Did they pull there sponsorship of the bowl? Check out the hotels under the visitor section. No Wyndham properties.... maybe they decided to pull sponsorship until the game returns to New Orleans?
  22. Ahhhh yes.... the greatness of Utopia. IMHO it kicked all kinds of ass over Fritzels in previous years as an HQ for the Mean Green Nation.
  23. It's just a poorly written sentence.
  24. Wasnt that the philosophy that gave us Vic Tilli as a basketball coach?
  25. I think not having his degree has a lot to do with that.
