Dodge won't go anywhere until his kids are out of school. He turned down opportunities to interview for college jobs before if it involved moving his family. I believe his youngest wont get out of high school for five years. I'd expect him to stay here at least that long.

I doubt the Phonies would accept a bowl invite to New Orleans if we were playing in it. Why would they want to lose to us a second time in one year?

Actually I've heard that he offerred the donation several years ago when the new stadium wasn't even on the horizon. It wasn't a matter of baseball program vs. football stadium. I believe it was the Helwig administration that turned down the baseball offer, most likely because they didn't want to fall further out of Title IX compliance by adding another men's sport while we were still out of compliance (Something the RV administration has corrected. Its often overlooked and even mentioned less but this was a tremendous obstacle that RV and staff had to overcome and they've done a great job to get UNT past this. People often forget that this HAD to be done before we could ever think about getting a stadium.) However it's been a matter of public record the the Goldfields were motivated to make this latest donation specifically becuase of the accomplishments and direction of the athletic department since RV took over. One quick correction to Playmakers post. The Goldfield donation isn't going toward just a study to determine IF a new stadium is needed. No study is needed. That conclusion has been reached long ago. The donation is being used as seed money to fund the drive and process of raising the money for a new stadium. Big difference there.

Have you been enrolled in college since fall of 2005. NCAA rules give you five years from the day you enroll in college to play four seasons. If you've been enrolled since fall 2005, you've only got 3 years of eligibility left but contact the Ath. Dept. They can answer any of your questions much better than anyone here.

Sometime in late August??

My guess is most likely we'll have to wait until media day. That's when previous uniform changes have been unveiled.

How about another example the WAC. You may be too young to remember but there was a time when the WAC was viewed much the same as the present day SBC. The Wac was a collection of far west teams whose teams would leave for a better confernece. (Arizona and Arizona St. left to join the PAC 8) In the 80's When BYU went undefeated in the 80's there was SERIOUS debate if they deserved the National Championship becuase there conference competition was so weak. If any other team that year had gond undefeated, BYU would have been passed over. If you go back not to long ago to the late 80's and asked ANYONE which was the better, stronger conference, WAC vs Southwest Conference? No one, I mean NO ONE would pick the WAC over the jaugernaut SWC. But less than a decade later the WAC was expanding and the SWC was defunct. Second example, CUSA. When the SWC broke up SMU, TCU, and RICE joined the WAC. Houston was invited to join as well but they said no thanks, they were going to go with a newly founded conference called CUSA. At the time CUSA was looked at like a joke. It was geographically far flung, none of the schools had any history or rivalry between them. It was viewed as an dicey experiment that was doomed to fail.... Look at it now.

Both but if I had to choose.......Hands Down it gotta be the STADIUM!! Conference quality is all about perception, and it ebbs and flow through the years. Case in point the Sun Belt isn't as bad as it was just a few years ago. It's aleady passed the MAC in Sagarin ratings. Who know where it will be in 10 years? The SBC is improving however so slowly. The Conferendce can get better, Fouts is never going to get better. Make no mistake, one of the things keeping us out of CUSA was facilities. A new stadium will help that. And a new stadium will bring OOC opponents that people will want to see. Sure you're not going to get Texas or Notre Dame to come to Denton but Ok State has come to 30k seat Ford Stadium at SMU, Missouri has visited Troy. Baylor has come to FOUTS for gosh sakes. With a new 40k stadium we can get some lower echilon big 12 teams, TCU, the Acadamies. We have to invited to a new conference, something we have no control over other than to make ourselves attracitve as possible. Louisville used to play in a minor league baseball park, Since they've built Papa Johns Stadium look where they have gone. Let's follow that model. New Stadium = more fan interest = more attractive OOC opponents at home= bigger attendance = better recruits= more winning= A NEW CONFERENCE

I've always parked on the lawn of the Phi Kapp house for free (membership has it's privileges ) tailgate, then walk the block to the stadium

I wonder how she's going to react once the new stadium is built and people are tailgating in that greenbelt (ala The Grove at Ole Miss)?

League Expansions (off The Frog Board)

Actually North Texas has a higher percentage of its students living on campus than UT. The commuter school label is all perception. -
Unt Traditions/spirit Committee (steps To Success)

I've had the opposite experience. I've worn my Son of worm cap and have been mistaken for a Philly fan at least twice. Im not saying its not a great logo. I love SOW, but it's still relatively new and not associated with UNT yet with a lot of people. Right know the uninformed see and eagle and green color and they automaticaly think Philly. It will change, give it time. I think it would help by putting SOW on the side of the helmet. -
Phonies aren't to thrilled with the price jump to tailgate on campus. Tailgating prospects look pretty bleak for visiting fans too Phonie board

I don't have a problem with the text "Sink Navy" . Army uses it every year. But the image of a naval vessel going into the drink is in bad taste. I'd go with the suggestion of using a Goat (navy mascot) in a row boat. Nothing wrong with that image. Take away any connotation of the active duty Navy and replaces it with a cartoon depiction of their sports teams..

Where Aikman goes, Hansen follows. At least until they surgically remove his lips from Aikmans ass.

I wonder how many of these high school coaches will come away from this with a totally new impression of UNT facilities? A lot of these coaches are under the impression we are still working with what we had in prior years and have no clue about the new AC and practice facilities. Even Todd Dodge said until he interviewed he didn't know how nice things were here and what we were still planning on building. On another note, does anybody think we'd have 150 high school coaches come to learn the Dickey Draw??? This can have nothing but a positive effect on future recruiting.
-
Yeah, I can't count the number of times I've gone to a game I normally wouldn't attend based on who was tossing the coin!!!! I think our win/loss record by Nov 11 is going to have a much bigger impact on attendance than who is flipping the coin.

I'm not sure what the heck I was thinking. A thousand people to buy a $100 brick??? We can't even get 1000 to commit to spend $6.95 on an Athlon magazine!

BabyArm here... AKA Andy Imm. The BA name comes from Sportsradio 1310 The Ticket. It was a term that came into used on the station by listeners (P1's) and staff after once telling the story of a guy with a small arm, It mainly came into use as a greeting or parting referrence..... "Ok good talking with yall, Baby Arm!" Some would also use "lobster claw" too. Anyway I was a listener to the station and used it when making up my account name on here a few years back. Been thinking of changing the name though. Not in use much anymore on the Ticket especially since the Rant show on Saturdays is now gone.

Good fundraising idea we can steal from the Horns if we ever get around to demolishing Fouts. Question is would anybody want it?? Buy a brick
