Nebraska And Big 10 Chatter Picking Up
Baby Arm! replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
If Nebraska and Missouri go to the Big Tenleven, It's just a matter of time until Texas and ATM go to the SEC. The SEC commish has gone on record they wouldn't be sitting still if conference shakeups start happening. The SEC wants Texas, but so does every conference. UT can pick where they want to go. Outside of the Big Ten and it's network the SEC has the best($$$) TV deal. The PAC 10 doesnt make sense. Nobody wants to go west when they could go east. Too many issues with game start times, travel etc. But Texas/ATM is a package deal. If you take the big brother you have to take little brother too. Too many politics and aggie politicians (Governor GoodHair)for UT to leave ATM behind. -

I didn't think it was possible to make Donald Trump look like a bigger douche than he already was.... Then I watched the 30 for 30 film on the USFL. I stand corrected -

This just insures Texas wins the MNC in 2013. Afterall we always seem to open the season with a road trip to the previous year's national champ

SMU's Willis quits team 10:36 AM Thu, Aug 27, 2009 | Permalink | Yahoo! Buzz Kate Hairopoulos/Reporter Bio | E-mail | News tips The tumultuous saga of Justin Willis' SMU career has taken another turn. Willis apparently quit the team Tuesday after finding out he wouldn't be among the four first-team receivers. The starters will be Emmanuel Sanders, Aldrick Robinson, Terrance Wilkerson and Cole Beasley. Willis had most recently rehabbed from suffering a spiral fracture in his right fibula, suffered during spring camp, so that he could play his senior season. His father Samuel was shot to death in late July. "I feel bad for him because he's been through a lot of stuff, he's battled through it," SMU coach June Jones said. "But he just wasn't the same speed wise." I talked to Willis after practice Monday morning for a story about all he's been through at SMU. He was optimistic about what he's learned through all the challenges. He said then that he didn't know what he would do without football. During his career, he was twice suspended in high-profile situations, became a father and went from the posterboy quarterback of the program to a back-up receiver in Jones' system. Jones said Willis has told several teammates he's done with football. "I hate to see him to do that but he's dealing with a lot of different things right now," Jones said. "He's one of my favorite guys just the way he's handled himself, worked hard. I hate to see guys quit."

Rick just needs to bring his sign "Call us North Texas State ONE more time, and I'm coming to the booth!" That sign is good for a couple seconds of air time.

How Smu Is Going To Try And Sell Out Their Opener
Baby Arm! replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Football
North Texas used this same gimmick to try and sell out the Baylor game the first time they played here. George Dunham was one of those picked to sell 100 tickets and as I remember he got Mark Cuban to buy the majority of his allotment. The Hardline did a pre game remote from the 'Eagle Dome' tent on the practice fields and most of those tickets were there on a table for anybody to take. -
From the Link "Update: In the post below, we link to a story from the Lincoln Journal World's Web site that contained a number of inaccuracies. According to the Cowboys, the 20-inch pizzas at the new stadium will cost $60, not $90 as reported. (That's the same price they were in the suites at Texas Stadium.) There will be five different types of pizza available for that price. Beer will be sold for $5. The suites themselves will range from $100,000 to $500,000 per year. That lease will include tickets to Cowboys games, but not third-party events. " But other than that it 100% correct!

LINK Who is No. 1? That debate rages weekly during each college football season, and often long after the season is over and the trophies have been handed out. The debate is as much a part of the annual ritual as the touchdowns, fight songs and bowl games. If you think that process can spark a debate, try ranking each FBS team's all-time position in college football history. But the ESPN Research Department devised a plan to settle the argument. Their system lets the numbers do the talking. ESPN's Prestige Rankings are a numerical method of ranking the best FBS college football programs since the 1936 season. Point values were assigned for certain successes (win a national title, earn 25 points) and failures (get your program banned from the postseason, lose two points). They ran all the numbers through the computer to come up with the No. 1 program (and Nos. 2-119) of the past 73 seasons. Here are the results: 1. Oklahoma: 1,986 2. USC: 1,897 3. Ohio State: 1,655 4. Notre Dame: 1,579 5. Nebraska: 1,553 6. Alabama: 1,534 7. Texas: 1,494 8. Michigan: 1,332 9. Florida State: 1,110 10. Miami: 1,109 11. Penn State: 1,088 12. Tennessee: 1,072 13. LSU: 926 14. I'm old enough to remember when Lewisville's biggest rival was Denton High School. The DRC even sponsored a big traveling trophy for the "Denton County Championship". This was the early 80's and Denton and Lewisville were the only 5A progams in the county. My how times have changed.

It doesn't REALLY get cold by Minnesota standards until Dec/Jan. They'll be fine. They did it for years at the old Brickhouse before moving to the metrodome, and every other team in the Big 10(11) plays outdoors.

Anybody know if those Ch 21 games are going to be shown in the San Antonio market?

I've always advocated doing what a lot of schools do... put the marching band in the end zone. It will fill up a section , the sound of the band would be projected out towards both sides of the stadium, and it makes for a really loud end of the field.

Vacation Talk
Baby Arm! replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
At my old job we got 5 weeks from day one, bump to 6 after five years, and to 7 weeks after ten years. I worked there for eleven years, I never used that much vacation so I carried one week over every year. So in effect I had 8 weeks of vacation by the time I left. Nice thing was I was able to cash out any unused time when I left, 2 months pay was a nice going away present The new job started with only 2 weeks. That was an adjustment! Im up to three weeks now
