  1. This seemed a bit off to me so I checked - and the records were right, but the OOC wins were not for 2003 and 2004: 2003: Beat Utah and Ark St (lost to Pitt and VT) 2004: Beat Clemson and Wyoming (lost to Utah) 2005: Beat SMU and Tx St (lost to Clemson) A&M at least made an effort for awhile, but now they are going the way of their Big 12 brethren. It wil b e interesting to see if Texas and OU keep up their history of (mostly) strong scheduling or if the Tech/KSU approach becomes the permanent norm. (although in TAMU's defense they scrambled this year to fill a spot left by Miami backing out of a home and home - Texas also had some scrambling to do I believe - and are playing OSU)
  2. Bingo. What we need is an all around strong program in all sports and a guiding master plan. We don't need scattered wins here or there. That's why I laugh when people say they wouldn't want a "Devil" Fran type coach at this school or would rather beat SMU than Texas. You move conferences with your overall program, not just your football team. Even during our years of winning SBC titles, our other sports didn't do much - fix that, and win another 4 straight football conference crowns, and see where that takes you. We challenged the other SBC schools to catch us in football and they did. We need to up that bar again and take them with us - that's how we build this now. Keep doing that, and OOC wins, fans, and recruits will come. We have an admin more worried about pissing off faculty and pushing career signature development projects than turning this into a great regional institution. It sucks. We all want more respect for NT, but ultimately fans can only do so much to get it.
  3. No, you can't. Its on the banned list. You can use punks, goons, no-goodniks, rapscallions, anti-Christs, putzes, and taint-jugglers*, though. *By no means do I mean the slang term "taint" that is just not worthwhile here - see Dodgeball ("We're going to get our taints handed to us.") for context. Rather, I mean a shortened version of the word constraint, which is this context, means a person who juggles the constraints. This applies to SMU's cheating history. They used to cheat at stuff and got caught. Now they suck and can't cheat anymore. We never cheated, but sucked back then and were in I-AA. In your face, you Mustang rapscallions!
  4. This is it for you because its not worth it, but yes - you can learn about the term McMansion here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McMansion Yes, crappily is a derived word that is not real - you are learning fast. A battle of wits is no fun when I am always 6 steps ahead. Have a great Friday! I hope the mustang board does latch onto fake raving insane sarcasm meant to mock previous posts - including yours - they'll tear it up with that one. What I really hope is everything I posts obsesses you as you look for any misspelling or grammatical mistake. I hope you lose hours of your life doing this. One last question, when/if you watch the Daily Show or the Colbert Report, do you think its real news?
  5. I laughed really hard as I watched you struggle for 34 minutes to post this - and you did an excellent job. I think we can all learn from this. However, you still didn't quite get it. Your first two sentences should be one sentence, with the comma coming into play. I am amazed because usually you are all over the comma. At the end of the first paragraph I had some trouble following as well - "not to waste on especially on" - but once again, getting better. If you ever want my help feel free to PM me any posts you want me to preview - I'm happy to help My posts are never perfect but I do have writing experience. I'd love to look into that job if you have a link handy. No one wants grammar police - unless the word loose is involved - but your posts don't even pass the 14 year old girl IM after midnight test (which I invented.) I'm glad you learned from me, though. I am here to teach. Also, when I list you as a reference, should I list you as Playmaker or Certified Cliche Comeback Guy? (the CCCG license is very hard to get by the way, congrats!) I want to make sure I get it right. Now let's go beat SMU. You in?
  6. Now that is a good point - my argument is, knowing that many of them are in that situation, why give them a whole thread's worth of material to turn back on us and make us look insecure? We have nothing to be insecure about with them. As Southern Mustang said, they have a great alumni network that some of their students really use. I bet they are not the posters making those comments - unless it is in jest to the original idea of this thread put forth by our own alumni. One of my favorites parts of uptown/SMU area is finding the SMU guys I knew from high school who now specialize in mixing my drink or making sure they serve my fajitas just right. Those are the ones who never used the network or took advantage of tens of thousands of dollars worth of education, those are the ones who need vindication from a crappy football team, and those are the ones who think saying NTSU is a knee-slapping good time. If everything pans out, they can make a few sales at the car dealership someday and get their own crappily made McMansion in a Dallas suburb and struggle to pay their mortgage while leasing a Lexus. A college diploma proves you can read, write, and comprehend the world around you - and some specific technical knowledge/ contacts to open a few doors. Its what you do after and the character your college experience put in you that decides who you become. I feel like Tony Robbins. Does that SMU prof still have her blog that makes fun of the students? That was a great read. Now, I have a war to go prepare for this weekend. If all goes well, by Monday we'll control the right tollbooth at Mockingbird and the Tollway and use it as our base for ground ops. If that fails, I'll just drink. No mercy.
  7. SHUT UP! YOU'RE THE DEVIL! GO WIPE YOURSELF WITH A $100 BILL AND GO BACK TO HIGHLAND PARK!!! This is Jihad - embrace the spirit of psychotic warfare!
  8. It was a passionate rant - things become phonetic. I now understand how playmaker's mind works. WAR!!!!!
  9. If you learn to spell and make coherent, non-rambling sentences, I'll toss the football with him every night for an hour. Deal?
  10. HAHAHA! Thank you - and thanks for the term horse hugger - I was looking for some new innuendo that wouldn't get banned. I obviously stated I didn't want to win the game and all SMU people are great - not that the 2 posting on our board have been classy about everything so far. I obviously said you can generalize away about SMU people from your middle mgmt job as you resent away anyone who ever had any privilege. I hate snobs too - but they are everywhere. I met more than my share of great people at NT - but also have a laundry list of douche bags here as well. I got to room with a few of them. I obviously stated I don't want to win this game or beat SMU. Let me highlight that again. Want me to meet you before the game, get the artillery together, and lob grenades at beamers? Maybe we could launch rockets at their campus? I'm up for whatever. The postings of the 10 fans of SMU football have convinced me that this is war!!! WAR! This is the most important game ever - so I have a plan of action. 1) We start an internment camp and kidnap as many SMU fans and players as possible. We give them no trial, torture them, read them excerpts of our MG history, and read fake versions of their fight song and alma mater - as well as make them hug horses. 2) We attack Gerald Ford and dispose him from his remaining power. We will make a deck of cards - their coach is obviously the ace of spades. He must be destroyed first - cut the head of the snake I always say. 3) We sanction Mockingbird and cut off all supplies of whatever the crap Denton exports (Patriot cigs, beer, pot stank, Bowling for Soup CDs, good food, etc.) 4) We impose democracy on whoever is left behind, allowing them to vote and set up a new government, leaving troops to deal with the khaki short DMB-hadist who will continue using their car stereos to spread Dave Matthew's extremist message of relaxing crap. Ants Marching = A Call to ARMS!!!! 5) Finally, when it is over and democracy is accepted, we annex their homes, sell them, and use the money for a new stadium - made of white collar human heads and steel!!! Those homes are a precious natural resource and need to be liberated first. Only when this is done will we win this war and take are rightful place at number 94 in the week 3 football polls at 1-1. BTW - their posters "smack talk" has to be the gayest collection of noise I have ever seen - and I once went to a shouting contest on Oak Lawn.
  11. Maybe we can start "stealth winning" at some point.
  12. I hate SMU too - that's not the point. There is so much more to bash them for that what is being said here - in all honesty it makes it really easy to turn this back around. In fact, on this board, SMU posters are coming off as classy, which is absurd. Make fun of their rich QB history (those who didn't form rock bands or transfer), make fun of their khakified army of douche bags, but don't make this debate into some weird metaphorical, end all be all conflict. Its like being given a chance to roast Bin Laden and sticking only to "beard joke" material.
  13. It must have been SMU that screwed her up. I know no one else who has gone to college anywhere else, changed, and become weird or messed up.
  14. If you equate us to Florida State and SMU to Florida, I have no rebuttle. Although on a side note - A&M beat Texas a lot in the 90's - I think Texas is still feeling the side effects of those debacles.
  15. Is that a shot at RF?
  16. CS - you don't know how it works here yet. Rather than commend schools that have built fundraising programs correctly, we'd rather name call and resent them for it. If we ever got our leadership to figure out fundraising at all levels of this university, we might have to have a group suicide because we'd have no choice but to loathe ourselves. There are plenty of reasons to hate your school - but alumni success is not really one of them. Why don't we go out this weekend, fire up the Dave Matthews, and GHB some sorority girls?
  17. I don't get this leap backwards thing. Is losing to SMU worse than losing to FAU? No. It would be sweet to beat them but to be honest losing to them would only keep us where we are after last year - the bottom 10. Winning the belt can get us back to the top of the bottom 30. SMU last year was above both. We have a lot to gain with this game but nothing to lose except the pride of the SMU conspiracy theorists/class warfare advocates. I'd say it would hurt recruiting but since when have we recruited the metroplex? I hope we pound them but good lord - this isn't like Fresno, La Tech, or New Mexico losing to them. I am optimistic about next season but lets remember how low are starting point is so we can appreciate how much we climb next year (hopefully.)
  18. No that's just because SMU owns the paper and wants to keep us down. Duh.
  19. Its a perfect confluence of grammar, sentence structure, and thought - in other words - exhibit A for why people can make a case for calling this the idiot board. Some SMU guy is going to have a field day resposting that on their board and just ripping it line by line.
  20. Yes - if you represent the Best Post Committee of the "subtle hints of an inferiority complex" Hall of Fame.
  21. But unlike prison, the person you shank doesn't get to beat the living crap out of you the next time he sees you like Baylor did.
  22. I say we've given them no reason to care on on the field since we changed. They have 119 teams to preview - why bother fact checking one of the worst out there last year?
  23. Does anyone really not want to beat the crap out of them? I want to beat the crap out of anyone NT lines up across from, whether its Texas, SMU, a team of trannies in chaps, or the Dallas Cowboys.
  24. Dude, if that is your beef with SMU, then you have MANY, MANY schools to beat. But SMU on a list with just about every D-IA school except for the Sun Belt schools and Baylor. Calling this a class war seems to sell many of our very successful and rich alumni short - the only difference is many of our alumni don't care about their school. SMU grads do and traditionally have. The real problem is the failure of UNT to establish an identity or positive relationship with many of the students who come through here in any form. Seems like that's changing, but the benefits of that are still years off.
  25. Wait so you are advocating taking something that can get bogged down or mundane, and then pushing buttons and saying inflammatory things for the amusement of yourself and others? I am appalled.
