don't even waste your time comming to Jonesboro
Quoner replied to statefanatic's topic in Mean Green Football
I googled "best turf in the nation" just for kicks and it looks like you are in a dog fight with Allen high school and Stanford's field hockey stadium. Bentonville high school loves it too. Good for you. Why do you think your crappy school will beat our crappy school just because we both beat the same opponent by different margins and we beat an opponent you guys lost to? If I was gambler, I'd probably bet on your team, but your idiotic argument is just amusing to me. -

First of all - you sure about that? That Wal Mart scares the living crap out of me. Second of all - I hope everyone can appreciate the beauty of ASU and UNT fans smack talking each other. This is how I would summarize the battle in cartoon form: http://youtube.com/watch?v=0mCxBFmOemI -
Someone's getting touchy - would this be a bad time to mention my high school had a cannon too? Don't forget, Al Groh got the kids to start wearing matching t-shirts to games instead of dress wear a few years ago. That's a rip off that you can include in your next rant I do think we need some traditions and anything that fans and families embrace is good - I just get frustrated when we hold these up as the end/all be all. Like all parts of the program, we are still a long way off from being big time, but that doesn't mean forsake who we are. And if a fan wants to support two schools - even Texas - thats okay - we need everyone willing to come in our gate.

What is your gut feeling on how we will respond

It was nice of Harry to open the board up to the special-ed class at Jonesboro High, but it really might be time to pull the plug. They are making UNTplaymakers' posts look like the work of Charles Dickens. I almost forgot: Go sTAINTe -
I told Margie I'm driving to Groansboro...

Sir, I am shocked and offended. That's a special event - you go to a C-USA or WAC town for something like that. Probably WAC.... -

You know what else is funny? King of the Hill. Or as you probably call it - anime porn. sTAINTe -
I don't know, but are you sure you can tear yourself away from Texas/ Nebraska long enough to check? FFR has taught us all you can't be a friend of two teams - what are you thinking....

How come NT cant upset big name teams
Quoner replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
Confusing - getting beat by lowly teams helps recruiting? We should be an f'n powerhouse then. (You're doing the excited post thing again where you forget to edit ... deep breaths.) -
I bet he's holding out for ULLAF or NMSU like all the best ones....

From SI truth and rumors http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/sion...lege/index.html One top Florida International official said the school would love to lure Butch Davis -- a friend of new AD Pete Garcia -- but that's a major long shot. We're told a return to the University of Miami does interest Davis. -- Miami Herald

I agree with most of what you said, but the crowd for the first game Friday of that tournament had a pretty good turn out. Then both teams lost their first games and that was that...

I'm begining to rethink Coach Dickey...

I just meant you missed the original sarcasm in the post you quoted - nothing more. -

Speechless. Friends don't let friends miss sarcasm. -
The crowd was also pure luck and mostly UH fans since they were in town with their bowl game. I agree with your thoughts on big name schools though - but UH was a perfect storm. The point of my comment was not defending the schedule as the best one ever, but to explain why it happened. If we improve our program against what is in front of this year, teams will be more willing to play us because it will not ruin their RPI. The new emphasis on scheduling has changed the way everyone is setting their schedules. Look at A&M's schedule this year vs. last year as their expectations and profile rise. Win this year, then see what that gets us next year. Win this year, and get more fans. The Mavericks can crank out pump up the jam during a playoff game or play wild wild west (both happened at a game I went to) and no one cares. They were winning. Beating what we have in front of us is the way to go. If you care enough to post here and you are able location-wise, come support the team as they grow. I would love to schedule TCU, SMU, etc. - but I think we need to work on being a more attractive option to them.

Shhhh, don't let the 10 people who haven't figured this out yet know....

What's going to be accomplished by having a guy who's very close to Rick and loves to flaunt it and another guy who may or may not be someone fight it out here? I'll tell you what - me, being entertained. -
So is booing the playcalling, but I still look forward to a day when no one has to do it.....

sure he wasn't driving across the street to the AC?

The Rangers do the same thing - as do a ton of baseball and other outdoor sporting organizations..... there's much better things to complain about right now. Fireworks will not run off fans - all they can do is keep families around or give little kids another reason to encourage their parents to come. I'm WAY more insulted by the games than the pre and post game activities.

Speaking of Tulsa and Kragthorpe - this is yet another reason that maybe looking into Slocum's help is not a bad idea. He picks and develops good assistants. I won't break down the whole track record - don't care - but he was able to find a few good assistants who are now succedding elsewhere - such as Senor Kraggy. No reason to think he couldn't put a staff together that could succeed beyond him after a few seasons. As for the boring offense criciticsm, his teams were designed not to run, but wear you down. They would pound the ball at a weak team and the score would stay close for awhile, then as his line and backs took their toll, he'd open up downfield and his teams would pull away in the second half. He didn't just run the ball with no sense of purpose or discretion - he had a gameplan. This concludes the Slocum fan club committee meeting for 10/5/06. I bet if Pete Carroll loses his job at USC, someone will post that we don't need him coming to UNT either. Lets win with class - Kelvin Martin for HC!

I know you meant your, but still funny. Besides, our players can learn so much from watching on the sidelines and picking the coaches brains...... that's why our older players never make mental mistakes, they've seen it all!
-
Thank you for calming down - but its a rule of this board to not trash the players for one. I, for one, would not dare violate it. As for the senior thing, I don't understand your logic at all. Can you explain further?
-
Shut up. You're right. We shouldn't apply that logic to the players. Shut up. The best part is picturing you turning red and flailing away at your keyboard like a crazy man. Shut up. and thank you for the greatest argument ever against midseason coaching changes. I don't think we should make changes until after the season either, but you sort of make me want to change my stance with your well-reasoned logic. Breath, and say what you want to say. Calmly. We'll give you a mulligan.
