  1. and everyone knew, and the story broke on here pretty quick, but then everyone got bored waiting a full summer for a confirmation and started convincing themselves it wasn't true? I'm not saying that could be happening right now with other topics, but I'm just sayin'.... I saw Glad to be Green on the other night getting ready to post something, then he must of thought better of it. Or perhaps Bobby Ray cut off his hands and shot a hole in his computer? Yeah, that makes more sense. EDIT: Fun Fact: The edit function fixes typing and grammatical mistakes!
  2. You think he has a manifesto somewhere and he just edits as needed? Or do you think it's all written out in paint on his walls? REDRUM! YAR YBBOB! SLLEB SLLEH! REKNILS ERIF!
  3. When Johnny has time to RETURN your calls.
  4. Here's an equally hard-hitting question sure to have equally shocking results.... Are puppies cute?
  5. Good ideas - but one research concern for the coverage variable - Since the time frame we are analyzing saw a complete change in the way sports media is (websites, blogs, etc.), its a given that the number will go up dramatically. You either need to find a way to adjust for it (doubtful), or just acknowledge this in the analysis section.
  6. So I can't say FUPA but we can use merkin now!? Awesome. I use mine to cover diseases - and yes - its mean AND green.
  7. Hopefully at least half of you realized eally was being sarcastic....
  8. I'm bitter and hateful now? I stayed positive pretty long about things - I just think that this sponsor makes it even easier for those quippy bowl season previews to marginalize this game in their bowl season overviews and get in a few cheap digs. Yes, a sponsor is great - but the fact that this bowl could be marketed as a way to show a company is committed to supporting the NO economy makes me think we could have done better. It's easy and relatively cheap goodwill for a company to sponsor this thing. And, if anything, with it running on a Friday (a ratings graveyard all around) I wonder if the sponsorship price moved even lower. This is great for the sponsor company - I bet they got a tremendous value and more power to them for finding a non-traditional way to promote their service and support the Belt and NO. Was I advocating turning down the bowl? I am sure whoever goes will have a great time, get a nice check, and get a head start on practicing for next season. I didn't know I was planning a grassroots boycott of the only bowl we have enjoyed in the last several decades. I just made what I thought was a light-hearted joke at a goofy sounding name - much like people do with the bowls you mentioned.
  9. R&L Carrier's presents the R&L Carriers' New Orleans Bowl brought you by R&L Carriers. Awesome. The new logo has our green...so I guess a small part of us is still there.
  10. Told you he was reasonable.... In theory, all three area teams getting better is good for all of us. However, only 2 of the 3 schools have proven their leadership cares enough to do anything about it....
  11. I just hope the parents and relatives of Talons members aren't reading this thread. Its so unfair.....
  12. That is so immature. It also explains all the delay of games and timeouts though.
  13. We win this game because... We always pick ourselves to win these type of games and it always works out.
  14. The Sun Belt Conference - where everyone's a winner!!! What a crock....
  15. Speaking of BC, why not Flutie for no logical reason? I'm sure his experience in the metroplex last night impressed him enough to want to join this local college football hotbed.... Our best selling point? A 100% certifiable lack of Craig James. Top that, ESPN. On a serious note, BC is not a bad program to emulate. Always seem to have had a good coach one way or another, always seems to be a top 20 team at the end of the year, wins bowl games, etc. They also have great academics and made their ACC move mostly to join a more complete (athletics and academics) conference. They never have the best talent and always seem to win more than they look like they should on paper.
  16. I'm sorry the gay bit makes you uncomfortable. I bet if I was a minority I would really blow your mind, you small-minded jackass. I am glad I completely screwed up for you. I find it completely screwed up that my alma matter will give you a masters degree in anything based on the crap you post, but that is another story. When I don't get a management promotion next year because of that mammoth devaluing of my degree, please lend me $5. You remind me of an old George Carlin joke about earrings. He talks about how people are always asking him what his earrings mean. One guy asks if he's gay. His response - "bend over and let's find out." I invite you to do the same. You and Dallas Green (who admitted this morning he is still crazy) had the biggest, non-sensical win at all cost hard-ons (SMUners if you will) for this game. I was yelled at for trying to temper it and am just bringing it up again. You lost sleep over this game - read some more of your comments after the jump.... Highlights of your blabber: September 4, 2006: "I will lay awake at night wondering if we can pull away with a win or talk to everyone about my tailgating plans or how this will be or biggest game in years. Also I tell everyone that this is a real rivalry game that mean everything to the program Just wondering what you guys thought.... Ive been like this for weeks now Cant wait to see Fouts filled up, tailgating and a NT win... If we beat SMU, lets go crazy.... " March 28, 2006 "The UNT - SMU game is the biggest game at fouts in years, forget, that, biggest game in years for both of these long-time rivals. the winner takes bragging rights for being the hot team in the metro plex and also has a head up in recruiting, donations, and exposure. " "You can begin to imagine the Campaign to Fire Coach Dickey, if we lost to SMU, if thought it was bad after the tulsa loss, wait till after a SMU loss.... Down with SMUt " I guess you also infer I didn't want to beat SMU because I didn't post hysteria for 6 months about a game between 2 teams in the bottom half of the NCAA? It was a game were both teams had much more to lose than win - I even think an SMU poster rightly pointed that out. We never had a "great" team in the past several years. We had some good teams, but never anything better than 55-75 in the country. The year we beat baylor - A&M beat them 77-10. They have bigger, faster athletes who would have overwhelmed us. A&M lost to teams that outcoached them by identifying their weaknesses and exploiting them over and over again. When do we do that? What OOC result gives you any confidence that we could walk into Kyle Field and beat Aggie at anytime since 2001? ASU played them close in 2003 in Fran's first game if that helps you start your research. Hell, aim lower - how about making a case for us to beat any Big 12 North school? Careful, don't look at the recent KSU results....you'll hurt your eyes. For example, Navy has had a lot of recent success - but still cannot beat Notre Dame. Most years it isn't even close. If you watch the lines, you see that Navy's smaller line is overmatched. This is what would happen to us. The teams that beat A&M during the last 6 years pass all over them. Do you have confidence in our staff to do that? Plus they now have Van Malone to break down all of the "intracies" of our offense (do we push A and up, A and down to pass or B and left to run? its very tough.) Line us up against Army this year - see what happens. I win. Hope this doesn't get deleted.
  17. Screams of terror from the people in my trunk drowned out by the new Movin' 107.5. EDIT: Haha, drunk.
  18. So this is more satisfying than playing TCU close and losing during years we went to the NO Bowl and had a winning record? What if you could go 10-2 this year and lose to only Texas and SMU? You'll light up a cigar if SMU loses its next 3 games and say we cost them a bowl game and feel great about this year, won't you? To say we "awakened" SMU is pompous. They were a young team we had the luxury of catching early. for UNT's situation, pinning any season on one game is absurd. I was excited at that game and had possibly the most fun I've had at a home game and even posted as much. I thought the season was setting up to be at least a little more fun than last year. I even posted as much and was wrong. Happy (or pissed) to admit that now - I assumed that somehow, despite years of knowledge of how poorly coached and outmatched our team is most weeks, we could have a good year. The reality is, despite your protest, we beat SMU, then crapped the bed, and 2 days later no one (press, fans, etc.) even blinked. When the season ends, more people will remember the FIU game than the fact that we beat SMU.
  19. Still believe that SMU was our biggest game this century? Still think 1-11 is okay as long as we beat SMU this season? Still think we could beat Aggie? Just curious. "UNT (coaches, players, and especially FANS) get ready for our biggest game of the 21st century, by all means dont even think about discrediting that statement, since this game was announced, this is all that we have talked about."
  20. Leach has found a way to insult every conference team he played directly or indirectly before or after the game this year. It's amazing he found the time to do so when he was not insulting his own players and questioning their manhood. His behavior almost seems similar to what another thread on the board is accusing RF of. Maybe its a trait of "genius" coaches to belittle others? I'm done adding to this thread though after this post unless something particularly compelling comes up. No one is going to talk me out of thinking Tech sucks - I'll still root for them to beat some lame PAC 10 team in whatever bowl they go to though. But, hey, let's not debate that. Let's just read whats in today's paper on Tech. Go Raiders! http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...st.1769aef.html http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...f2.2a94995.html
  21. Still funny after all these years... GO RAIDERS! The second one is the best testament to these drunken morons... BTW, I'm talking about their idiot football fans. Not their alumni loyalty. Since its a theme here, Al Queda also has lots of loyal alumni...
  22. Actually, only about 25-30 programs make money off athletics. They treat it more as a way to come close to breaking even and a great outlet for PR and branding. Speaking of the Sun Belt, except that we weren't, this is an interesting site that discusses that topic: http://thesportseconomist.com/archive/2006...197589793303519 Check out the Indianapolis Star database at the end.
  23. So confusing - but funny. I'll save you a seat in hell.
  24. So am I.
  25. I figured I'd repost on a new thread since I just hijacked the "I'm done" thread. Discuss. F Tech. Leach was crying the moment the game ended but honestly captain genius decided to go for the homerun six times instead of staying underneath. Then he calls a failed QB sneak in a bad situation and clearly did not come close to getting it. This abortion of a tech season is his come-uppance for being an all-around jackass. And hasn't he accused his team of quitting and acting entitled this year? Does a West Texas attitude also entail drinking large amounts of alcohol, cussing on mic, and flicking off camera crews on national TV (great moment by the way!) does it entail throwing bottles and trash at Chase Daniel's parents when they got their ass spanked at homecoming? just curious....
