  1. Most annoying fan base and most times to "GIT YER GUNS UP!" has to be way up the record list.... This man fascinates me and I almost wish he could coach at a more academic institution where he could be fully appreciated. Maybe he'll go to ACC country or Stanford some day....
  2. Here: http://blog.peta.org/archives/2007/01/rip_barbaro_1.php I hate PETA, but don't see anything wrong with the four requests in JD's post.
  3. Don't confuse me with an NCAA supporter, but perhaps OU got a waiver because of the current Sampson penalties and A&M due to having one of the model compliance programs in the nation. It would be interesting to me to look at how coaching changes influence these scores once they have been around a bit longer.
  4. Love that Coach K quote in there from 2003. Douche bag. You know, because it was obvious that he must run around taping all the time and not during a murder while working at a new job for one of the worst coaching human beings ever. And hey Kram, this has never happened in the pros - jk
  5. I thought he got "deported" when we got Kidd and Lue. Or is that stapled to the bench before he walks this summer? I always get those terms confused.
  6. I wish TFLF would stop taking a crap on everyone's ignorance. We have tailgating now!
  7. Theory 1: I guess people just tune in for our insincere and asinine Houston/Dallas rivalry banter. Theory 2: Immigration crackdowns have greatly reduced their number (crosses fingers that someone turns this thread into an immigration debate.)
  8. It's like they are playing on ice. Guh.
  9. Just heard from Alex - he is heading to Marist and wishes us all the best: http://tysports.blogspot.com/2008/05/greek-tragedy.html
  10. Sadly, the game was in Dallas, but Versus felt the need to start it at 9 pm EST even though all other sports were wrapped by 5:30 pm or so on Sunday. I know hockey is not mainstream, but if this thing had started at 6 pm, I wouldn't be wishing for death at the office right now.
  11. It's the second greatest happening in all of sports...besides sudden elimination Dodge Ball.
  12. That was the best individual one game performance by a Stars goalie I have ever seen. You did not get that many quality chances in an entire series against the 1999 team.
  13. I really thought you'd know that was a good-natured shot at this point, but I guess that Houston "Dallas is my mean big brother and we have these two NBA titles and decades of failure everywhere else so yell about the two titles more" reflex caught on. Hockey is my favorite sport by far and it is cute to watch the hockey n00bs get fired up. If you want to use the popularity/interest argument to bash what I like - here's a newsflash: we both root for one of the most irrelevant college sports teams playing right now. I am sad that you cannot handle the teasing sir.
  14. Whatever makes you feel better about McGrady and the boys is okay with me! Boo Mavs!
  15. Watching that in person was just exhausting.....Marty STOLE that game in a way that kick Belfour's legacy in the balls. I don't know if TV captured how well he was moving and seeing the puck tonight. That was easily the greatest sporting event I have ever seen in person. Also, we need Barnes back to have a prayer next round.
  16. Laughing at Eagle1855 - yes this would be an even bigger joke, but that is like comparing a 30 car pileup to a 32 car pileup.... Boston will probably walk through the next round against Lebron, and then they can take turns with Detroit deciding what games they should each care about and try in. There have been quite a few games in both conferences where teams have just quit - the NBA is FANtastic! Also, NO didn't look too bad last night...
  17. June Jones demands a chance.
  18. That's a pretty good Riley impression.
  19. Stadium. I kid because I love
  20. Get ready to flame me. I think this story is so appealing right now because it is a sport that does not resonate in our collective consciousness. Imagine how you would react if the Mean Green were playing for a Sun Belt title in hoops and the other player stole the ball in a tie game and fell and broke his leg streaking away. Then, out of "sportsmanship," our player laid it in the other hoop as time expired. Would you be happy? What if the football team was in a tie game with 10 seconds left and the other team's back broke into the clear but somehow shattered his legs at the 5. Do we pick up the ball and run it out and then back into our end zone for a safety? Once again, are you happy? NOTE: I could be proud of a team that did those last two examples, but I think being truly happy about it would be a challenge for all of us. Also, I think this is a really cool story and I cannot believe those girls did what they did. I just wonder what you guys would think if it wasn't some obscure softball team. EDIT: After thinking about this - let me revise one point. Pretend in both situations UNT has a one point lead.
  21. Oh I agree with you completely. But if Texas had offered him sooner, he would have very strongly considered it. Although now it is much more enjoyable to listen to his Texas family make their plans to wear black and gold to Austin in October.
