If You Like Feminine Flopping
Quoner replied to Quoner's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Me saying things sarcastically is as reliable as you missing sarcasm or exaggeration and responding with a serious and somewhat angry statement. I guess I am too stupid to understand why that "highlight video" of game 6 is good for basketball. I have also watched maybe an aggregate of 56 minutes of Sportscenter excluding with the sound off in bars, so I guess its not TV that blinds me about it. At least hockey has its too best skating teams to showcase everything that makes it a great sport. A Spurs/Pistons Finals will mostly remind America of everything that sucks about the NBA. -
But....but.....ummm... Sports!

This is for you: http://tysports.blogspot.com/2008/05/fun-w...urshornets.html That's a video montage anyone can be proud of! The NBA deserves Spurs/Pistons...if only to give the NHL a chance to see if they could score a 4-5.0 with Pens/Wings against that crap. -
Texas has been floating around for awhile wit the Big 10. I doubt it happens, but imagine the money to be made in an annual (or close to annual) series between Michigan, Ohio State and Texas alone.

Richie Sexson's A "dead Man"
Quoner replied to SUMG's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I spent the last week in New England but enjoyed telling Yankees fans that both Texas teams had better records and better futures as they had no real response. I bet we are headed towards another 3-3 split with the Rangers scoring the most runs. Tom Hicks will then wear the boot around all summer and polish it to match his Stanley Cup(s?). -

anyone else in tonight? We're making signs and handing out anti-Red Wings paraphernalia. It may be the last night, but we're going out swinging. -

Damn it people - there's a boot at stake here! A real, live boot - made of real silver. And here the Rangers sit, one game away from keeping this boot where it belongs. Interleague play rules. -

I liked the article, but I also liked We Shot JR's take

Richie Sexson's A "dead Man"
Quoner replied to SUMG's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Both teams are in a good groove right now (even though the makeshift rotation finally blew up yesterday.) I cannot believe the Rangers just allowed 18 runs in 9 games and have the best record in baseball over the past two-and-a-half weeks with 5 straight series wins. I truly think the world is ending. The Astros have finally come out from under letting Roger Clemens hold their entire roster hostage for a few years and are 1000 times more likable without him and right there with the Cardinals and Cubs. This year could be the most intense Silver Boot yet (excluding 2004) Rangers: 4 boots Astros: 3 boots Astros are 22-20 against the Rangers all time. -

As I read this list, I can only chuckle that people blame Tasty and I for ruining the amazing level of discourse found on this board. /smugged -
Richie Sexson's A "dead Man"
Quoner replied to SUMG's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
True - I am banking on the fact that he is a douche and will appeal. I also have no idea how this club has won 4 straight series and just completed a 5-2 road trip. This means we are due for a 1-5 homestand. -

Padilla pitches when they come to town next Monday. Should be fun... -
Interesting parallel - a slightly corrupted institution trying to cover its ass after being deemed to "be in bed" with one of its darlings (Southwest.) I may have a soft spot for airlines, but well done sir. Replace Southwest with OU, Indiana, USC or a number of other schools and it works perfectly.

I can think of at least 5 borderline retarded posters on this board. I'm no SMU-lover but I think education at any school is what you put into it. I also know a single mother who raised her daughter while getting undergrad and advanced degrees there, a few teaching students who are wonderful people, a brother-in-law via Auburn first, some great law students (and some raging law douchebags of course) and some fine film/theater folks. One of my best friends at UNT was an SMU transfer who loved both schools but was glad she came here. Lazer, I know I quoted you, but this for everyone - why do we make this rivalry so petty all the time? On a completely hypocritical, we'll be back to bashing the stereotype idea of them on TY soon, but when we do it, we hope to at least be funny and light-hearted about it. If we hit the right note, we might even get more anonymous requests from some tough Ponyfan types to mow their lawns. Or, if we cross the line again, maybe SMU will cock-block us the next time the conferences realign....(shakes fist)

Oh, it was a stupid article to rile up the masses.

More Leach...
Quoner replied to LongJim's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I HATE Leach with a passion and Tech is my least favorite school, but good job reading me. He's such a "pro" coach, huh? -
Name one pro coach who has covered up the aftermath of a murder? Unless you equate Belichick to to Bliss? Outside of spygate, when is the last time a pro coach tried to cover something like this up? When is the last time a teammate killed a teammate. I have heard of teammates donating kidneys to save each other down the road, but nothing on the other end. If Bliss winds up in the NBA, then I guess we can revisit this entire thing. Who are you arguing with about this? Who said they don't want him? We all agree, but your confusing capitalization and use of "..." is dividing us all. Short answer: Because we follow college basketball and didn't go to Duke. Here's a fun read from an over-zealous Duke Hater: http://www.covers.com/articles/articles.as...;tid=29&t=0

I thought he was blaming both of them with the ultimate finger at the top decision makers. Oh, and finally! It took a few pages, but we got politics in a scheduling thread! Speaking of which, I can't believe Nancy Pelosi wants the fight to continue!? There's a gift to knowing when to step back and walk away. Lolz!!111!!! -
I think the issue is institutional support and what it means, but I won't pretend to know enough to keep this debate going. Here is the most recent release I could find on how Fulks conducts his research. http://www.ncaa.org/releases/research/2000110601re.htm I saw an article that quoted the number I gave early but can't find anything to support it, so please disregard.

I don't have a link, but according to the 2006-2007 Fulks' Report, only 19 college athletic departments in the country made money. I think in 2003, it was something like 25 or 26.
