Board Statistcs (and A Stadium Funding Idea)

I'll just say I know the history and concerns around doing things this way and am just really interested in how this idea would be received by some folks who could help it along. -
Board Statistcs (and A Stadium Funding Idea)
Quoner replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't understand why this has to happen through some dude's paypal? Why not just donate and make a notation that you are part of the GMG pledge drive or whatever catchier name that could be used? Seems like the tax breaks and gifts will pretty much be pulled from the masses if you do this - which I know is not the goal. Why not contact the AD and ask if something could be made as far as a fund raising challenge for the board or some kind of other incentive,. Right now, this just looks like a way to slap the Athletic Department and push the stadium issue around them. It could get to that point, but why not see how the two sides could cooperate first? The possibilities for cross promotion and improved incentives are here, but why not see if this could get "blessed" or even tweaked for the greatest benefit to the program? -
Be like me - get a major, a minor and a masters and then do something barely related. It's awesome.

Bo Jackson's wife graduated from Auburn with my sister and he and his crew had banners, horns, whistles and they all sang the Ray Charles "you got the right one baby" from his Pepsi ad. It was awesome. What was not awesome was all the other Alabama rednecks deciding this was their invitation to match the noise level when Cletus P. Judd got his degree next.

More Playmaker - less CBL! God bless America! Just because a thread is about soldiers doesn't mean social checks and balances vanish.

Nba Ref Scandal Gets Worse
Quoner replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Agreed - I think what happened in that series gets overlooked because of the steaming turd the Rockets laid in game 7 and the choke jobs it took as Jason Terry made himself into a faux clutch hero for two years, but man, this sucks. I really don't see how Donaghy could be 100% truthful on this, but I am more pissed that I follow a sport where I have to think he is telling at least a half truth. -

Sigh....really dude? We were going along so well... Checkfacts started with a point and then got anonymous big boy internet pants. Blogging and social media consultants know much better than to do what he did (well mostly.) He is just a guy with a lame agenda.

Any recaps of what went on this weekend for those of us who were out of town?

Big East Commish Stepping Down June 2009
Quoner replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
The issue is not as much Catholic basketball schools as it is institutional quality and (somewhat) private vs. public. When BC, VT and Miami left for the ACC, it was as much about academics and standards not being enforced across the board as it was athletics. Schools like UConn, Rutgers, West Virginia and Cincinnati do not share the same mission or standards as the private schools around them and that has led to a lot of tension throughout the years. -
not getting involved, but for the record, I thought the Star Wars bit was for Playmaker because he hates when people hijack serious and groundbreaking discussion that will create change with Star Wars photos, you freakin' nerdlingers!

I spent last week putting a media event together to honor Veterans for one of my clients and was amazed at how well the whole thing went off from a logistics level. It was great to see so many people who sacrificed so much tear up as they were honored individually. This was another major media market several states away, but we only had a few crews come out to cover it, because, while 77 veterans were being honored, Memorial Day had already passed and people "just wouldn't care about that kind of story after just seeing it."

Whats Wrong With Unt?

Ban the n00b!!!! -
You have no faith in your man-parts and this makes me question your leadership and commitment. Start acting like you have the biggest package in the metroplex and you'll see results - including the sextuplets!

If we're being technical, that has nothing to do with whether or not RV will apply. Wonder what would happen if SMU opened up though... (setting up Tasty)

Whats Wrong With Unt?

I kept a 4.0 during my entire time at UNT and left with every reason to be frustrated. I was not offered money until my final Spring semester and only because a professor decided to finally ask "what the hell?" in a nice way. I was told I could stay and add another minor and have full tuition - which would have been awesome if not for the fact that the scholarship would not cover the classes between May and August and I was already accepted to grad school (NT didn't have my program.) I left pissed, but then realized a few things: 1) GPA does not equal being smart. It equals ability to work and reason. If you need proof, read the crap I write. 2) UNT is bigger than us, and feeling entitled to something, even with the criteria, gets you a karmatic groin kick both at school or your career 3) UNT caters to a lot of people who will never care about it and takes the ones who do for granted. 4) There is too much good here to let one experience or slight ruin it for you. I could have stayed bitter like a recently departed poster, but I decided it was not worth it. 5) Finally, richard joke. -
Call It The Bomar Rule

Seems like good math and rationale on where to set that cap. If three players caused the problem, where should the bar be? I guess three seems too simple and four just seems like a cop out.
