You mean this week - because it's happened before

Move Dodge Into The Sid Assistant Position, And
Quoner replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
So if we made the change, what would they do with Stephen Howard? -
You make a lot of good points and it's not a question of character. If Dodge is really doing what Dickey didn't, than you are right and we should appreciate it more. But if he's not...

I like Vizza, but I'm fairly high on Tune. Can't hurt to give it a go.

Not only did we have a great time, but I found a pair of sunglasses on the field after the game. Seriously, they are really nice, so if they are yours, PM me.

Good summary of the season.

Sherman has stapled some of the teams most productive receivers from last year in exchange for these new QBs and has been raked for it. He has been forced into making a QB change that he resisted to the point of insanity until injuries forced his hand and he stapled Javorski Lane to the bench for not blocking well as a converted fullback in practice until the last possible moment against Army. He is greeted by a lot of sarcastic applause for these decisions while in game and is mocked for attempting to blame his lost to ASU on the fact that his kicker was concerned about the coming hurricane. There's a whole block of college football blogs that debate the entire question of whether a former NFL coach can make it in the NFL. The consensus is that he has to change his ways and not demand the perfection and flawless execution that is a given in the NFL. That is why for every Pete Carroll you see more Dave Wannestedt (even with the upset win), Al Groh or Chan Gailey. Fans second guess things everywhere and have that right. The truth is no coach ever has all of the athletes he needs to be successful - the responsibility is to game plan for what you have as you build and get the most from your talent. If everyone felt we were getting the most out of the talent we had, there would probably only be a handful of people complaining. I also got the impression that people were not questioning the position (some predicted that would be his role), but why his shirt was burned so abruptly when we have so many WRs on the roster. Besides, we both know this is GMG - people are going to say stupid things about everything. The way to evaluate the year is improvement, consistent performance from the offense and the expectation that the D needs to be rebuilt from the ground up because of what a setback last year was. Is that fair? It's also hard to talk X's and O's when every game has been over by half time. I think you'd see a lot more shop talk if there was a few small things to latch on to. People were fairly focused after LSU, but then the bye week and Rice kind of shot the wheels off of that. I've rambled enough - let's go build a stadium together!

I'm sad that no one on this board seems to be familiar with Green Man or It's Always Sunny. I figured my new title would just appear organically - just like all the others.

Here's mine: FIU at UNT (SBC play starts): UNT 42-31 Rice at Tulsa (Bailiff against the Evil One): Tulsa 56-38 ULALA at ULAMON (taking ULAMON at home): ULALA 30-27 tOSU at Wisconsin (will the Badgers rebound?): tOSU 21-16 ( only because this is the game that they get picked to lose every year and they always find a way on a combination of a bull shit punt return, a defensive touchdown and one drive where their offense doesn't like like a bunch of retarded seals playing volley ball.) Mizzou at Nebraska (border war): Mizz 52-35 (if you can't move the ball on Mizzou at this point, you are either I-AA or not trying) aTm at Ok Lite: OSU 30-27 (this game is always close and aTm has a knack for winning this is weird ways. OSU can never stop anyone and, depending on what White Kim Jong Il decides to do with the running backs, can be controlled by a healthy dose of Javorski and friends. Since he seems bent on teaching lessons instead of winning games, give me OSU with a close score that does not belay how well they control most of the game.) TTU at KSU (fling it and sling it): KSU 49-42 (KSU is good for one wild ass kitchen sink game against a good team and since they don't have Texas on the schedule, why not here?) Texas at Colorado: Texas 31-27 (Texas reminds me a lot of OU at this time last year when they looked unbeatable. Then Colorado humbled them out of nowhere. I'm not saying it's happening, but I'm not saying it's not.) Speaking of OU, I think I read somewhere that Baylor is gonna beat OU.... so, OU 42-21 Now that is how you hedge some handicapping!

How Would The 02 And 03 Teams Fair In Today's Sun Belt?
Quoner replied to calvin's topic in Mean Green Football
You just said such nice thing about me and I appreciate it, but: You win games by running the ball well and playing defense. Everything else should come from that - you run to set up the pass, and if they take it away, then you pass to set up the run. You don't just pass to set up the pass. I saw the same records running the ball instead of passing before - individual and team. Those teams also won more than 2 games. The fans were excited about the change, but the luster is wearing off. Everyone acts (rightly or wrongly) that we are at a crisis junction for the future of our program. Did Dickey not want success - or was he too busy actually achieving it to not talk it up enough I know several kid's mommas who don't like Dodge - but he is next to Jesus in the SLC cougar demographic. I really don't want to just bag you and Dodge because I am hoping we get this turned around, but I just can't handle the idea that Dodge came and wiped away the clouds by having our offense break out in 2 out of 16 games (which we both lost.) Our offense is, in kindest terms, a work in progress that has yet to come close to working against a team without significant speed and size deficiencies on the other side of the ball. This is what I want, and expect, to be fixed by the end of the year so that there can be hope that only one side of the ball needs to be overhauled in the off season. -

Yeah - thank God we're not stuck in a one-dimensional wasteland of an offense now. -
Bump - how'd we do?

Big A brings up an interesting point if you're into that sort of thing.

I know what you were trying to do, but the scenario is a no-win. If Dodge, was winning, of course he would get all the credit, because Dickey was fired for not winning his last two years. Taking the same players and winning would immediately prove that he was a better coach. The question now is whether or not he can build a better program, and he needs at least this year and next year before we start calling for his head. Firing a coach this early in a contract after terminating Dickey would make the next coaching search a complete mess. But on the plus side, we probably wouldn't have to worry about candidates being leaked to Southern Miss message boards.

What - no outrage that Mean Joe, Todd Dodge and Hayden Fry weren't wearing all green? You people disappoint me.

I wonder if the people who run the Coliseum value our basketball program or robots more?

Did Anyone Else Know That Dickey Was Once The A&m Oc
Quoner replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
In your defense, the main text was extremely poorly written and made it somewhat easy to come to that conclusion. However, we both know that I am not capable of just being pleasant. It's one of my eight fundamental flaws as a human being. -

Read the wikipedia page again, but pay more attention to who Charlie Bailey is and where he coached and try to match up the years with what was happening where and... Actually, nevermind. Tell all your friends about Dickey's run at A&M. That'll teach 'em.
