Analogies really escape you - don't worry about it. No - the converting goals to touchdowns analogy is a complete kick in the crotch every time a soccer fan does it. People don't care about that at all. That is an idiot explanation but forth by European-fans to try to explain why American's don't care. no one - save Big 12 boosters who believe those really were the best teams this year - is distracted by shiny scoreboard lights. Congratulations on Howard's nice save. Even in a poorly played mid season hockey game, I saw 15 really good ones. and more than 50 total. I never said I watched it at all. You are really bad at this reading thing. I just hope the more we beat soccer at Mexico the more we secure our borders. YEEEHAW!! USA!! -
It's not GMG.com unless you take it personally and turn it into something serious between you two.

Glad you did. Good things are happening for group think!

Unless they threaten those illegal Mexicans down south! Am I right? Am I right? Border security!

Can we? Animal genitals! Will we? Roe vs. Wade.

That's why I like public parks, libraries and late night truck stops - just you and nature. Well, unless Carl Monday shows up.

You did it - you made the analogy to a crappy 14-0 football game! Hooray! Then, you compared it to the Dodge situation but forgot the part where the previous best player defects to Brazil for no reason. Does this mean that a Riley-led NT team could beat that Techa Prep School that plays Dallas Jesuit and Texas schools sometimes. I guess soccer fans just don't have the passion of UNT's sprawling fan base because the only thing I have heard anyone complain about in 10 years is the best players leaving to play in other countries and Bruce Arenas. Also, since soccer plays so damn infrequently, we should have added that to the discussion yesterday. I run 7-9 miles a day, so do I "run" more than a soccer player if you go by timeframe? Sometimes I even kick rocks while I do it You know what I really like about soccer though? The global hooliganism and despicably racist fans. It's like a post on this forum, but with more chanting and possibly more going on. Back to the Stars - here's hoping Roberto "Borat" Loungo stays off his game until the weekend. -

You know - each of those goals is like a touchdown in football.....or 40,000 dunks in premiball. -

I had to give up tickets for a thing in Arlington. For some reason, the worst Stars games I ever attend are against Phoenix. One game around the holidays I brought 8 friends only to see them lose 2-1 while half the team had the flu. I'm going Friday with good seats, so I hope they bounce back since Vancouver has been struggling. -
Are we 100% sure that none of them are diabetic?

My brother-in-law was a KA at Auburn who later got his MBA via SMU. He said this is par for the course everywhere he saw (which is limited to the wonderful south in general) and he was not shocked whatsoever this happened. Take that for what it's worth - which is nothing. -

I'm from Euless and I wouldn't do that, but I'd think about it for longer than 7 seconds. -
Wow - this thing got long. I'll wait a few more days and then submit. I know some of you are taking them directly to the source - so keep up the great work!

Despite positions that have been taking for comedic effect with varying results and resonance, I blame a lot of this crap going through squarely on Bush. He created the perfect storm for the last election to be a referendum on him and his failures rather than what is best for the country. Accountability for many of the folks who just voted is removing the old regime and assuming that nothing else could be much worse. We are reaping the failures of both sides right now - and spinning it any other way is just trying to save face for wherever you happen to fall.

Fun tidbit from today's shootaround: http://starsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2...very-stuff.html It's not quite premiball - but I'd play it. -

When you hold the all-time record for INTs, nothing is redundant. -
And we saw all of them as winnable games too.

Exactly. It's the top 10 mid-majors to watch, not the top 10 ways to please your man or make a delicious Thanksgiving dinner! She probably doesn't even watch football and just goes off what all the other national "pundits" write about us anyway. She's in for a rude awakening when I cut finger holes in her oven mitt and we win 10 games next year!

Agree there's no way to scientifically settle this, but why do more hockey guys have their skills transfer to soccer, lacrosse and occasionally baseball if it is so niche? If your goal is for continuous action and running for that long - why not pick lacrosse because they can also hit each other while running? What looks like gliding to you is often done backwards, forwards or sideways. The soccer players know their surface and what it will do at all times. There's no Olympic event for running around on a pitch gracefully, but there is one for skating. A hockey player goes for a shorter time, but each player on the ice will handle the "ball" (looked I used "them" right) a ton more than soccer. They will also be an average of about 70-100 recorded hits each game, not to mention the other stuff that happens on the fly and between whistles. Also, think about how much bigger hockey players are then soccer guys and the toll that the physical play adds up to. Hockey players are capable of playing longer shifts than what they do - but it's a peak performance thing. If soccer allowed more substitutions and resubstitutions like every other sport, you might see their time cut too. Each line is not out there to do the same thing and that strategy is part of the fun. Two scoring lines, a checking line and a grit line is a lot more interesting to me than just watching Modano, Lehtinen and Loui Eriksson skate around for 60 minutes. The coaches make changes, adjust pairings and do other little things to counter each other all the way down to how each line tries to enter the offensive zone. Just like soccer - but faster and without 50 minutes spent outside of each offensive end. I can't believe those jerks clean the ice twice a game to improve the quality of play. That's one more break than a soccer game and I don't even get the fun of not knowing when the game is actually over at the end. I kind of wish soccer stadiums would stop tending their grass and let the game come more naturally. Also, last year there were over 5 total goals scored a game in the NHL, but keep holding on to that theory that it's just like soccer. Almost forgot to address the staged fighting thing. Fighting is standing up for when the other team takes liberties on a player or to spark your team. It's a known role and it is understood. Last year, Calgary fought in a playoff game down 3-0 to the Sharks and came back to win the game after they won the fight. On the other hand, if you go around gooning it up, you can get tagged for instigation and get killed on the powerplay (just like Anaheim did against Dallas last year.) Every powerplay and decision is weighed much more heavily in the postseason because the games mean more. AA Arena huh? I didn't know you were such a big Florida Panthers fan! Think they'll make a move before the deadline if they stay around the 8 spot?
