  1. It's true, if we weren't banned, the pyramid of jokes based on your contributions would probably reach the moon by now. We were banned because we took your serious, racist and ignorant ideas to extremes and one moderator got trigger happy to make an example of us to restore harmony. And guess what? IT TOTALLY WORKED! Things have never been better and the GMG nation is marching lockstep into the 2009 season ready to cheer together. Everyone has never been more ready to put these "fun" discussions aside and really focus on what unites us all as fans. It kind of makes me weepy. Also, where did you get the idea that Tasty and I are hardcore, socialist left wing nutjobs? Because we are friends with CBL? Because we make fun when you post ideas that support the theory that you might not be entirely ready for the 1950s to be over from a social stand point? Thankfully, there are plenty of folks of both parties who can point and laugh at you - don't make it political.
  2. The league over (KHL) is starting to pay players - including non-Russians like Ray Emory and a few others - more money than NHL teams can now and have stolen a few mid-level talents back from the NHL. There was someone in Nashville who scored about 25 goals a few years ago and now I think Viktor Kozlov is headed over there from the Caps. Plus, there's been issues with getting players out of Russia (Ovechkin and Malkin had big issues a few years ago, for example.) With Swedish players being suddenly the "in" nationality, everyone figures they can work around dealing with them. The NHL Draft is different - some of these kids go to college after being drafted (that's part of the fun of the Frozen Four - some guys you start learning about are held by teams and enter the AHL afterwards.) Think of the AHL as AAA and then all of the stuff underneath it as the Rookie, Single A, Double A, etc. The college players can leave at any time (I think even in season) if they are ready to go pro, which makes it different than the other sports as well. The Stars picked the best talent for them at each spot, but it was interesting that they went for a different mix of size and skill than before. They've loaded up on D-Men in the last 3 drafts more than I remembered, but we'll see where this goes. I've seen nothing but praise for it so far on few scouting sites, but we won't know for years if it's worth it. Also, rumor is that Gustavsson will announce his decision tomorrow, but we'll see.

  4. Only one Russian taken in the first round. Hope Vladmir Constantinov was sitting down. I'll see myself out.
  5. I think someday we will look back and think of all the people at the AAC at Zubov to shoot more as the same type of people who booed Aikman during his last couple of seasons. We'll probably never see that pure a passer in a Stars jersey ever again. I'm still holding out hope he comes back. We need Bouwneister, but our cheap owner will probably keep us 6-8 million under the cap this summer. If he ever sold the Stars, they would be able to sign a free agent or two right away, which is nice.
  6. There was a winger that bob Sturm was high on InsideCorner, but I can't find him. Sadly, Sturm is on vacation, so all we really have is Heika to talk about local stuff. I can't find anything too compelling from him, but he does support my take the talent strategy: http://starsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2...y-on-skill.html Also, saw Zubov's house is up for sale. It's probably time to move on, but that depresses the hell out of me.
  7. No - they only have lowercase god, like a Baal or Egyptian guy - because the Red Wings are pure evil sent from hell to destroy us and cloud the message of Jesus.
  8. Genius pun or part of the ongoing hot streak? If this was NBA Jam, you'd be shoving me down on every inbound pass, stealing the ball and hitting about 20 straight three-pointers. Also, embed is disabled, but: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUDV7Q-8dfc
  9. I'm gonna try a hard left turn <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyAbHdqjzW0&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyAbHdqjzW0&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  10. Don't just shout your argument louder after you said something stupid because you can't read. Do you even know who you are talking to anymore?
  11. Dude, you are a comedy gold mine. Unless the kids parents were O.J. and Michael, which, besides being confusing, would make you a master of inside info.
  12. You can't spell KARMA without KRAM
  13. If I was a football player reading about people bitching about a 1 or 5K in the heat followed by a BBQ, I would laugh pretty hard, then think abut how this is where people gather on the internet to criticize me and then come after each of you with a spiked mace aimed at your crotch. In the heat.
  14. There were 2 posts when you made your "burn in hell" remark. One was about bad things happening in threes and the other was me anticipating Thriller 2, so you weren't exactly the voice of reason in a love fest. I don't know what coombyaed means, but I hope everyone who participated washed their hands and faces when it was over. I was hoping we'd have a nice mix of jokes and music videos to pretty much pay tribute to how he was viewed, but the burn in hell comment pretty much made my day. Besides, I hear Jesus thinks its awesome when folks take care of eternal judgment for him, because it frees up more time for him to work on his live album.
  15. They have several soon to expire contracts to play with and the MLE to deal with the immediate. None of the other guys CBL mentioned are likely to be a front of rotation for anyone and there are plenty of guys out there that are supposedly being shopped. Omeka Okafor is my favorite rumor, but you also have Tyson Chandler, the corpse of T-Mac (who gets a ton of money off the books if you gamble on him), Felton, Josh Smith, Camby, Kaman. MLE guys include Rasheed Wallace (if he goes to the Spurs, that's crazy), Bird Man, Ariza and Barnes. Moves can be made to upgrade this team or at least start the remodeling process, but I am losing faith in their ability to do it. Also, although I stress I am not a fan of what the Mavs did, I liked this look at it how they did it: http://www.dallasbasketball.com/fullColumn.php?id=1764
  16. Sort of - but a god, deep defense or puck possession style can make anyone look good when they click. When Chris Osgood gets in the Hall of Fame, he should immediately get on all fours and let Lidstrom, Kronwall, Rafalski, Wheelchair Russian, Larry Murphy, Chris Chelios and everyone else who wore the winged wheel have their way with him like a white girl at a late night meeting of Japanese business men. Osgood was an above average goalie, but there are countless goalies who could have won as much or more if they would have had his situation. I think they just need to draft the best available and not worry if it's a D-Man. The last time they picked this high, they convinced themselves they needed a D-Man first and reached on Richard Jackman, who was a total bust. Take the best talent available and don't look back.
  17. Not demanding he burn/rot in hell the day he dies (ala Saddam Hussein) is a free pass? I only like a handful of Michael songs and, like most folks until yesterday, have seen him as a joke punchline for 20 years. It's one thing to say "meh" or issue a joke, but the rot in hell demand just amazes me.
  18. And he threw out the first pitch at the last game of the Rangers/Astros series. The biggest barrier is Toronto just hired the best goalie coach in the history of Sweden hoping to lure him (and get decent goaltending in general). Brunnstrom is his former teammate, so that should help too. Still, not many teams are closer than Dallas in terms of competing and Turco could be gone after this year if we don't resign him, so it's a good fit if he wants to win.
  19. The only thing driving me is that the Okafur rumors won't go away. This is terrible. On the plus side, on Twitter, Cuban said he got the guy he wanted - and a pick!
  20. The direction of this thread is so typical of the internet's toilet. I love you guys.
  21. Thriller 2 is gonna be epic. This is one of the first times Twitter paid off with a joke.
  22. Can we start blaming your trifecta call for Michael Jackson's death?
  23. I've been told my insults have been slanted towards one party lately, so let me just say that a lot of innocent words died in your mass execution of punctuation. Still - there are greater questions: Why kill and kill and kill and kill? Why not add one more? Or one less? How will Deppgreen answer about the shit situation? Does he indeed know shit or does he not? What was put on the rock somewhere? Since the two halves of the sentence seem ill-matched, I can only assume a greater truth is being masked.
