  1. The Dan Patrick Show Twitter feed broke news two hours ago that Leach will soon be an Oakland Raider. If true, crazy on about 8 levels.
  2. With gorillas! Also, isn't Kentucky about to be open again? Full circle!
  3. Should I be a fan -- even if we lose the game? The old Cowboy conundrum.
  4. I strongly support the practice of watching what is hot in college football offense, waiting a few years until more schools adopt it and then acting shocked when people quickly adjust to us doing what everyone else did a few years ago. That's how you get ahead of the curve with less talent - follow the back end!
  5. Meh. His assistant coach was just happy to be off the island.
  6. But he's so funny and makes people laugh with his bit -- and even bloggers like him! Doesn't that absolve everything?
  7. Newberg talked about Byrd, the AL West picture and what to look for next year this morning: http://newbergreport.com/article.asp?articleid=1689. I hate to lose Byrd as a guy I really enjoyed in Arlington the last few years, but giving him a few years of big money to stay and block up a crowded outfield (assuming Moreland and Beltre live up to their status/prior production in a year or two) doesn't make complete sense. And, since a Cubs reporter didn't like the Byrd signing, here's a good response from Rob Neyer at ESPN:http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/1903/are-cubs-getting-the-byrd-they-want. I'm really interested to see how he and Rudy do next year in the NL. It's a bit premature to go around the AL West since I think there will be more to come all the way through March, but: Seattle added Figgins and Bradley while subtracting Beltre and Bedard. If Branyan doesn't repeat his career 30 homer year, they should have a bunch of 15-20 homer guys and a strong top of the order ala the Twins. I think they need a power bat and a pitcher, but I can't believe how quickly they remade themselves since they lost 100 games. The Angels have lost Lackey, Figgins, Vlad and Oliver, but people keep forgetting that they probably did the Kazmir trade to mitigate Lackey's loss last year. They are relying on Matsui, Hunter and Abreu to fill the gaps as their younger hitters develop. I have a giant stiffy for Kendry Morales when he gets in a groove and I don't think they'll backslide as much as people think. I don't like the Rodney deal, but if the Rangers and Hurdle don't fix their penchant for striking out every 4 seconds, he could own us. Oakland has solid kids, gave the Rangers fits late last year and should be better than they were for the first half last year. Every team in the division has enough prospects to make a big move or two before the season, so it should be fun times on the hot stove all the way through spring.
  8. And if you want to refute or debate what someone else posted to show them why they are wrong and influence them to stop, just requote it. Wait, that doesn't make sense.
  9. Rick, if that's what you took from those posts, I don't know how to help you. They have a serious issue to discuss and they seemed pretty focused on it because it is real news. Heck, people have started 15 threads on it on our board and there's not a hijack attempt in site -- except yours. There wasn't a lot of thread-jacking when Dodge was hired or Dickey was fired either. It's the damndest thing.
  10. A good read from the Wizard of Odds: http://www.thewizofodds.com/the_wiz_of_odd...e-in-gitmo.html I had no idea that Leach and the AD had been at odds over various issues since 2002. I still think this was just two sides ready to be done with each other, but this really fills out why.
  11. Just our offseasons.
  12. FWIW, Dykes had 5 straight winning seasons directly before Leach arrived. It's not like he built the program out of sand. To me, Leach is a guy you add as a coordinator when you have talent equal to or just below your opponents and want to take it to the next level. I've never thought of him as a guy who could build a program, but in the smaller conferences, his offense may be enough to overwhelm most opponents.
  13. Really? This might be a bit overstated. He's bold and brash, but only with schools he knows he is favored against, his players don't generally get in trouble, he graduates them well and I cannot recall a major scandal before this highly suspicious shed fiasco. If Leach is a PR nightmare, then so was 1990s Steve Spurrier.
  14. What are screaming eagle 66 and that russell guy going to do without him? How will they replace all the conference titles and top tier bowl games he won?
  15. You get what you pay for. And you'll be hearing from my dad shortly. I also agree that we need to get some hard hitters and defensive linemen. I also want to exhume Korey Stringer and see how he plays on our o-line.
  16. Only if we can find a way to get them those dildos while they are there. Maybe a nice doubleheader with an engraved Blink 182 plane heading down in flames.
  17. I cut the brakes in your new Lexus. You've been warned, jerk.
  18. I loved it. I made a similar comment that a similar mishap was the highlight of my day and was calling back to the response I got and....you know what, this is your fault. You just don't get me like you used to.
  19. We'll have plenty of time to downplay JJ's legacy and fight with each other after he leaves for a better job in the next few years.
  20. Do we really want more playmakers? Could the board handle it?
  21. With Marshall's win, I will be pulling for the Moutaineers to pull off the win now.
  22. Don't fight the power of the Bleacher Report. It's 100% legit when it says what people want to hear. Also, let Playmaker run with this. It will makes RV's next podcast more exciting.
  23. You know what's sad? I believe you really do love it. On a serious note -- what can we learn from SMU taking coaches out of the equation: -Fire most of your marketing and comms people early -Sink a ton of money into failed ad campaigns -Run off a few scholarship athletes These probably played a much bigger role than the alums banding together and making Jones happen. Or maybe an athletic department that couldn't stop tripping over it's own feet for a few years was pushed forward to make a good hire by its top donors in spite of itself. Or, to be safe, we can try the three things I listed above. Hey, we already got number 3 down.
  24. Leach wants out and Myers wants to fire him. Everyone wins.
  25. I think you should have given Henry a bit more time. Next year could be huge.
