  1. Are you so binary that the idea of someone saying both sets of claims against both men (Trump has many more on the record with more evidence than Biden) deserve to be fairly vetted and all legal maneuvering of non-disclosures , countersuits, intimidation, etc. somehow means the libs have personally victimized you again? Why are you olds so frail and inflexible when you had possibly the easiest lives in the history of humanity?
  2. The MO in this thread is post something unvetted or your own guess, challenge science to prove you wrong because sound scientific method takes time, cry "see!?", wait for the data to catch up, disavow being wrong and move on to the next thing you read in your partisan research. Little concern that the dead could now fill the Arizona State stadium, just a desire to... not really sure. Win coronavirus? Preserve skepticism in amber for future generations? Just ask the tough questions?
  3. I didn't say Biden gets a pass. I have never professed support for Biden anywhere. I'm just curious that if this is an absolute for someone, why it is only applied in one direction? I'd be happy to see everyone accused fairly investigated, prohibit them from using legal machinations to suppress the full disclosure of information and hold anyone that is proven to have done something completely accountable even if they are nice or a good kid / nice guy. Doesn't seem like a controversial stance, but here we are.
  4. Yes - coaches have a lot more say in basketball and the lead time is usually under 2 years. That's why we pivoted so quickly with Grant to a tougher OOC. Sometimes an assistant will have the scheduling duty. Here's some recent links with references: https://www.sltrib.com/sports/byu-cougars/2019/05/20/byus-new-basketball-coach/ https://www.theadvertiser.com/story/sports/college/ul/2020/04/29/ul-basketball-coronavirus-impacts-cajuns-basketball-scheduling-plans/3047701001/
  5. Nope. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/briannasacks/coronavirus-death-toll-cdc-misinformation
  6. This is a great long read on all aspects of this issue: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/04/pandemic-confusing-uncertainty/610819/ I don't think many here will read it fully, but topics of note include: What we really know and don't know so far How scientific methods around pandemics/epidemiology work - including research vetting and how so many papers/studies come to be part of the public domain, especially now (you'll see what became of many studies linked right here in this very thread!) The lack of information that still persists overall - and how we are not considering how to define and adapt our understandings correctly The dangers of making this strictly political and sharing the one-offs that support your "team" (with many examples that are also linked right here in this very thread!) The fundamental problems with how the media has covered this so far and how they are not building the base understanding to cover this in depth, but reacting in the traditional short burst method we're all accustomed to.
  7. Don't be mean. He clearly meant ozone therapy, not O3. Real doctor stuff you wouldn't understand...
  8. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/courts/2020/04/24/federal-judge-orders-dallas-clinic-to-stop-promoting-ozone-therapy-as-treatment-for-coronavirus/ Just in case anyone else reading this is taking this as still a reasonable thing. "This defendant preyed on public fear, peddling bogus treatments that had absolutely no effect against COVID-19,” U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Erin Nealy Cox said in a prepared statement. “As we’ve said in past COVID-19 civil cases: The Department of Justice will not permit anyone to exploit a pandemic for personal gain.”
  9. So the Babylon Bee? Cool with me. I'm glad you and Lifer have found common ground after how much time you spent dragging him over RV. There's truly hope for all of us to unite around athletics in the future.
  10. My buddies? You mean, not the 2 people posting with you here on the non-unt sports forum? Most of my North Texas discussions are done on text messages and side conversations. I have life-long friends because of these boards and am thankful for them. We don't post for you - we post around you, because you suck ass. Your contributions are bad, your posts are bad, your inability to pick spots are bad and this board would improve 4000% if you cut your posts by 75% tomorrow. You're a weed that won't stop growing and since you've been here awhile, look around and ask yourself where so many familiar names and faces went - and why. I've backed way off and life is better - give it a shot and in the meantime, I look forward to your dedication to slapping -1 on everything I post because you have nothing else worth doing or people who want to talk to you in real life.
  11. God...the more I think about it...the harder I am laughing. He said the dumb thing and we started with "well, he was clearly taken out of context." Then right as we were moving to the "well actually, this thing is extremely good and here's why" stage, he completely cut the rug out from under his supporters. Like, it almost happened in completely real time and you boobs have to circle jerk around the Babylon Bee's reliable safe and wholesome White Christian Laff Factory and pretend you didn't get dunked on again - all because you are always compelled to defend one man as infallible for some reason while crowing about snowflakes, TDS and other terms captured in the "middle-aged extremely online dudes age 45-75 with wrap-around shades and visors and maybe a fish in their profile pic" dictionary. Political discourse is just beautiful here in the year 2020.
  12. Whoa whoa, slow down, doctor....you're losing me with basic cancer treatment terminology you picked up. No one has probably thought of any of this yet without it coming up 90 or so days in. He is legit throwing shit he hears against the wall daily that is based on the same level of conjecture and understanding to see if he can own the libs. Don't take my word for it, here's him talking about it just now: Get on your doctor phone and tell him not to back down and that this is extremely good. But if he was sarcastic, and you are seriously defending him, are you the dumbass?
  13. I did! Here's a fun chance for you to watch another experienced doctor like yourself react in real time. Would have been great if she spoke up, though. And here's the statement the company that makes the stuff had to put out because of his rambling. https://www.rb.com/media/news/2020/april/improper-use-of-disinfectants That said, I do think these two products would be extremely helpful for keeping exercise equipment clean and safe to use when social distancing policies relax, so it's not a total loss for all of us.
  14. Good luck https://time.com/5825983/rick-bright-covid19-hydroxychloroquine-trump/
  15. The Onion (on MARCH 25th): https://local.theonion.com/man-just-buying-one-of-every-cleaning-product-in-case-t-1842493766 Twitter (on MARCH 23rd): Rick (on MARCH 19)
  16. Because you hyped a drug that didn't help as a definitive solution because the president did while shitting on people who rightfully called you on it. It's not a matter of opinion - it was dumb, testing has found it was super dumb, and now the country bought 29 million does of these now-proven unhelpful pills for blurry reasons while it was hyped in press briefings and a certain news network because #fiscalresponsibility I guess? You and a few others ran off @SteaminWillieBeamin for pushing back and have been shitting on @CMJ at every turn for I guess being a "pussy" for taking this seriously and following data closely. I will also note they are grown men and can handle themselves, but sometimes you just want to take up for your friends in an absurd situation. I'll never understand how anyone wants to carry water for some of the most ill-intentioned people on earth (most politicians on both sides) because they wear your team's colors. It's performative and now you're getting it back and kind of going whoa, whoa this sucks. I don't think either side has handled this effectively, but two months of downplaying by the party currently in power (and an entirely lost month of February), followed by the last 6 weeks and a new wave of absurdity on the horizon. Unfortunately for that group, there are 20 pages of posts (plus a few other threads) from this time period with info that's getting proven wrong by the day that they are probably going to get pulled when appropriate. It's also super hard to reconcile your reaction to Ebola the more you downplay Covid-19, so there are some real questions and fascination behind all the snark. In real life, we know each other, we can text each other and if we were debating playcalling or running the option, we'd have a damn blast. Adults can disagree. That said, Political Rick gets what he gives and we'll never agree on most things publicly, but are probably more aligned than any GMG exchange. Besides, isn't this not a place for the timid or shy or whatever because shit got more and more vitriolic for the entire Obama presidency and how here we are (pour one out for TFLF and 90.) Maybe this is a time for us both to look inwards and change our approach in all these threads and we can have a gentlemen's agreement to be best? PS: You and Trump were wrong about hydroxychloroquine. 😘
  17. Nailed it. It's also warm again today, so look out virus! Score another slam dunk for anti-intellectualism and being the loudest voice in the room!
  18. Nope. Same sense of shame and self-loathing I feel every time I hit "Submit Reply" on this website for the last decade and a half. Thanks for checking, though! Accepting your premise of what the flu is is a completely non-dependent choice when it comes to elective procedures and the economic impact of all this. It's like saying you must accept the thesis of my high school paper on how the real finale of Wild Things was the pool scene and not the twist ending or else we will never show movies again. @ColoradoEagle is right. Hearing both sides sucks and I miss how the greatest generation would just shut down bullshit directly instead of playing the newly trademarked "hey, hey, just asking questions here" equivalency card for bad ideas their kids created.
  19. If you have to cut and paste part of every post like a proud momma bird serving dinner, at least fix the font sizes back. Also, catching up a bit this morning, so just want to confirm that everyone who disagrees with you on this topic does not travel (but might possibly understand population density a bit better), make investments, care about retirement, own or partially own a business, or faced a terminal illness or even ultimate loss directly or through people they love? And these bold claims are from someone who seems to stick to Tarrant County, doesn't discuss travel much beyond the footprint of CUSA and has a tax payer funded career?
  20. Can't help there, but I know a guy with an empty sushi place...
  21. Wow guys - props to you, Dr. Lifer and Andrew's dad for coming through with the peal clutching and victim hood in stereo, especially on the Sabbath. IS THIS MAN'S MOTHER NOT SACRED AND OFF LIMITS!? Was there a joke made? I didn't see one, but now that I think about it, I'll have a sensible chuckle later for sure. I thought we had found common ground that we really don't know enough either way yet on this thing and the China data was unreliable, but magically, when the guy who wrote a bestseller during the Bush years about torture actually being extremely good pens his weekly op-ed with a stance you like in a field he doesn't know, it's clearly a checkmate in internet Covid-19 arguing chess. This isn't a real argument, this is conservatives and Trump are infallible gymnastics. Would the firefighter of 2020 even know the firefighter of 2014?
  22. Fun fact: the writer of this op-ed is now posting on Twitter for prayers because his mother has covid-19. Life comes at you fast...
  23. You nailed the cut and pasting of the quote. 10/10. It's understanding the full article that seems to be just dangling out of your reach.
  24. The article is about how the data we are using to make decisions - all decisions is flawed. We need to rethink and remodel to know more, then they dive into a pretty detailed explanation of the mathematical models and issues in play. It was a great read and I am glad you posted it. However, you then used an out of context quote that is not from the author to prove that it is time to make a different policy decision that you agree with. You're doing the exact thing the article is criticizing, but harder and different. So, best case scenario, the big words lost ya and you made an honest mistake. Worst case scenario, you're just sort of intentionally misleading and combative and never quite made it past the way you saw someone else tweet or share this because Statistical modeling is not really an interest of yours or something you typically read up on.
