I remember hearing someone (maybe Florio) talk about how talent from smaller programs can be coached up and improved more nowadays because they don't have the same degree of resources as the bigger, semi-proffesional programs. This was in regard to how guys from Texas and Ohio State seem to be pretty much a finished package while guys like DeMarcus Ware or James Harrison become dominant once they have a level of coaching and training never offered them before. It's not a perfect explanation, but I think there's something to it.

I agree the system sucks and it's not going to be easy -- but it's part of his job to find a way to make it happen. Get creative -- find a neutral site, offer money...he's got nothing to lose -- and can even gain from leaking a few names of who said no.

Their AD gets paid a lot of money to take advantage of opportunities like this open slot. I agree it's not fair, but if you're a #1 team, what's a couple of road games against a top 10 team at this point to balance out the conference schedule? This spot should be looked at as an opportunity for them to play someone besides Tech and outside of the Big 12 to make a national statement -- even if they don't get the home and home.

It's like half the people commenting on that thread get the joke and I can only assume the other half does do, but just want it to be true so bad they are willing to forgo common sense as they respond. I can see it now.
