  1. Never the ones you hope, though.

  3. Oh... NOW this board wants to defend a career pizza man? Lol.
  4. Would love to see a sturdy and powerful 1971 Zenith color take on a Samsung 70" 4K with today's pansy ass, non-settop box driven Nielsen rules.
  5. What if we just scheduled Liberty to watch all our games from the corner of the stadium? Heard they might be into it.
  6. That's former SMU great Chad Wolf to you. I heard he and the St. Louis gun lady are bullish on Shane Buechele this season.
  7. You know...the momentum of the early Tea Party movement got me excited and when Mitch McConnell took over as Senate Majority leader in 2015, I was pumped about more Conservative justices and a new Supreme Court. I figured the days of abortion and catering to the gays was over, but recent decisions have really proven it is more of the same - year after year, we get close, but nothing ever changes. That's why I logged on today - to ask a question I think we've all been avoiding. When is Mitch McConnell the Senate Majority Leader going to hold someone accountable? They have every advantage - brand recognition as the party of Lincoln, a passionate base and even their own GOP news network (like the Long Whorns!!!) We make all these excuses for his dual roles, but other political parties don't do it this way. I want what's best for the GOP, which leads me to my tough question, when is Mitch McConnell the Senate Majority Leader going to fire Mitch McConnell the Senator?
  8. It's all green and it's all good. Congrats to all!
  9. And here's a recent Higher Ed article on how to respond to these incidents for the good of the community without running to expulsion and focusing on restorative justice, which is where KSU seems to be headed: https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2020/06/23/first-amendment-response-first-response-racism-campus Again, weird to see folks arguing that the students just need to lay back and take this to preserve the integrity of the first amendment. Most college speech codes at public schools read fairly consistently because legal teams have found what is possible and what can be enforced. And students who disagree have the same free speech rights to shout these assholes out using everything they got. Remember when the Aggies drowned out the Richard Spencer clown show? Ain't America grand?
  10. I think a point everyone missed is no one asked for the student to be expelled. That's the obvious legal precedent this couldn't jump. Since the Michigan case and others, a lot of campus leaders have basically shrugged at incidents and speech like this and said "nothing we can do here." It was a scared copout that to be fair, is not unfounded (but you generally have paid legal counsel and firms on retainer/speed dial for a reason.) Enter the policies I mentioned. You can't ban someone for saying a bad thing at a public school, but you can shore up the consequences around it. If they cross into targeted harassment or inciting violence, the law protects the removal. There is also, as the article says, endless opportunity to amplify other voices and drown out the idiots. When you put the parameters and accountability in place, the idiots generally cry victim repeatedly, then screw up against the new rules. That's why it took 3 different incidents to get @eulesseagle banned. The dude just couldn't stop linking to white supremacist websites. The fun part is he wasn't even the only one who did it (shout out to those of you still here), but at least everyone else figured out how to stop. The KSU student has two years to avoid the ban or pull a @eulesseagle, so we'll see how it turns out all around.
  11. Reading comprehension check: they're asking for a policy to stop him in the future and the university president is fast tracking it. System worked?
  12. Would you quit your job if your boss was an outspoken racist? Would you chastize someone else if they did? This is such a weird hill to die on, Racism Voltaire.
  13. The other student at the center of the controversy did, but you also might be thinking of @eulesseagle
  14. Google your favorite school or university and honor code or student code of conduct and prepare to live.
  15. Here's the KSU student code of conduct: https://www.k-state.edu/sga/judicial/student-code-of-conduct.html. Not sure how advocating for the advancement of a master white race doesn't check those boxes, but I'm also not the one questioning why everyone can't just give the white supremacy teen a fair shake.
  16. So, does this mean you guys are against universities having honor codes?
  17. When some chud in a golf polo can't post a picture of a linebacker with dreadlocks alongside the Predator or Whoopi for the 50th time, democracy is officially dead. I'll admit I missed the memo on our racially charged student section banter (because I don't think it exists), but if they were and we asked them not be racist, I'd hate to compromise our zero game winning streak at Apogee.
  18. Imagine being pissed Derek Thompson is in the Hall of Fame but mad this statue came down. Participation trophy culture can't even find homeostasis anymore...
  19. Facebook is doing their best to make sure the problematic olds can understand their own posts. https://techcrunch.com/2020/06/25/facebook-old-content-notification-screen/
  20. You don't seem to demonstrate any understanding of what you post until you are questioned. So much of the board is people explaining basic principles to you - politics, sports, your own link, etc.. It's like watching a child learn - which oddly, seems to go better for my actual kids - because they are actually open to new ideas. You want to show up, be fawned over and have your biases confirmed and have been having years of angry meltdowns when questioned - even before the acrimony picked up. I think I've talked sports plenty - there was a whole blog that got pretty popular (maybe start the Lifer Report and we can compare content web traffic some day) and a history going back to the mid-2000s. But weirdly enough, I just haven't broken down a game for 4 months or so. I think people who closely follow recruiting without being paid for it are mostly wasting their time so I stay out of that talk, so sorry for not adding "huge get" or "sounds like a good get" or "screw that guy for signing elsewhere" to a bunch of random threads. Sorry for not filling arguments with negative posters or trolls who would go away if ignored. No judgement if that's your thing, but weirdly, I just ignore them and stay out of them. If you'd like a take or opinion for the upcoming football season, I have no damn idea and don't want to blindly optimistically guess. And weirdly, everyone who "left" is still here either posting or trolling this site for content, and the people we have lost who were good posters will gladly point fingers at who and what made them leave in private conversations. Spoiler: it's not who you seem to think it is! But in the end, I'm just excited that a potential new fan who is not 50+ can open this dumpster fire here or on the football forum, see great takes on covid, race relations, swearing and more, then sign up and join and be welcomed. I know we've all been on edge waiting for our less than 10 minority posters left to share their experiences and opinions in such a welcoming and open forum. It's why the site just seems to add so many new faces and diverse opinions year after year and I am sure @All About UNT, @Harry and the other admins are loving the community welcome mat the Boomers are rolling our day after day.
