  1. I really like what you've said here and agree almost 100% (I think Derek is better than a C grade QB). I think Derek is an above average QB that graded out as a C last year. I'll be a bit disappointed if Derek does not start next year as I beleive he deserves the chance to work with a WR group that will be more experienced route runners and hopefully better at catching balls (really hope Coach Grant helps us out in this area). If a receiver stops short on a route, the ball is overthrown. If the receiver runs a 12 yard pattern when it is supposed to be a 10 yard pattern, the ball is underthrown. When a receiver runs an out instead of a slant, the ball is intercepted. If the QB doesn't have faith that a route will be run correctly and precisely, the ball will be delivered late. All this being said, IF Brock is the better Dual Threat and IF he clearly wins the job in the spring, I will be on board with that decision because it will make this team harder to defend!
  2. Leg strength looks alright although most of the highlights are with a pretty good wind at his back. HS Videos of kickers are really difficult to judge since they can use a block. 50% of good HS Kickers become average when they start going from the ground. Technique needs some work which means the transition from a block could trip him up. He's an OK High School Pnter but not so much at the next level. Macek is head and shoulders above this guy in regards to Punting.
  3. The Read Option has been a part of the NT Offense for the last 5/6 years.
  4. So the results of the 10 games before we play UTSA next year mean nothing? If we are bowl eligible before playing the UTSA game, but lose, you want heads to roll or you will stop supporting your school? I really do not get statements like yours. For me, I'll take the games one at a time and hope that we only lose to UTSA next year. I'll take those types of results and would hope that those in charge would get an extension instead of cutting bait because we lost to a particular team I felt was beneath our greatness(Not saying I feel UTSA is beneath us in any way other than being a newer program).
  5. Dodge was the one that hired Coach Gahagan, the first dedicated North Texas Football Strength & Conditioning Coach, back in 2009. Before 2009, Coach Seroka split time between ALL mens and womens sports team. Dodge actually requested a dedicated strength coach when he was hired but was told the money was not there for that dedicated position. *****MGT beat me to it!****
  6. I love the "North Texas Football Performance" Facebook page!! In my opinion, the daily/weekly updates provide a significant window into which players are the ones to watch and those that most likely will not contribute next year. Coach Wintrich started the site and I really appreciate the feeling of being part of the off season instead of talking about helmet sickers and uniform changes. Coach Wintrich, and the rest of the Football Performance Staff, put a lot of time into keeping the information up to date and I appreciate all that they have accomplished in his short time at North Texas! The FB Page tells a small part of the story in how he is making our North Texas Football program better each and every day!
  7. Positive Grant is gone but pretty sure the other two are still around.
  8. Obviously you've never seen me squirrel hunting
  9. This is a College Senior Bowl not a High School Showcase.
  10. That's probably only something that Brock could answer, anything else would be a GMG Opinion.
  11. SMH pmg or maybe I should say pms. Appreciate you dumping on the program the night set aside to celebrate the North Texas Football team and their accomplishments. A team of young men and adults that work non-stop to get better and represent this school in the best possible ways! You may not have called out the players but dropping this crapola in this thread is a direct shot at the work they do for North Texas no matter what you intended. Real big of you! As bad as NT needs supporters, there are times I wonder if losing your type might be addition by subtraction. I'll take what Rawlings, RV, Coach Mac, Coaches, Players, Managers, Trainers, and all of the other Athletic Staff have done and do for NT instead of what you do to support the program!
  12. Olawale is the only one that pissed anything away during his time at North Texas. Two completely different coaching staffs saw the same thing and evaluated him. I'm very excited that it appears he has figured it out now and is utlizing the potential that everyone saw and loved but previously was only potential.
  13. We get new uniforms every two years, so there will be changes for our first year in C-USA (other than a new patch). I have no idea what the changes will be, only that we will have new uniforms next year. New uniforms in addition to some type of throwback that have already been talked about by the Athletic Department.
  14. Although I know it is sacrilegious, I can not argue with your point.
  15. The injury is NOT a Broken Collarbone. AJ should find out the particulars today.
  16. I wouldn't bet on this.
  17. Yes he has been back since the start of the semester and has been on the sidelines. He should be ready to go full speed in the Spring.
  18. There was a game at Apogee last year.
  19. SMH. There is a bit of misconception going on here folks and no reason for the negative crap being spewed. The hotel reservations were made at the start of the year. The Athletic Department was fully aware of the TMS Race this weekend, they didn't just make a change this week. The Hotel around TMS is where they have been staying during the entire Mac Era except for race weekends which is a straight shot up 35w to Apogee. Pre-Mac they stayed at the Holiday Inn there in Denton. The way Mac has it structured required more space and therefore the reason the team moved hotels when Mac took charge of the program. Tonight they are in Los Colinas. The amount of time required for the kids to participate, in the Bonfire, would take them away from their normal pre-game routine which is scheduled down to the minute. Meetings (Positional and Team), Dinner, Treatments, Film, along with other preparations take up the players evening from 5pm until 9 or 9:30pm with lights out at 11pm. Attending the Bonfire would pretty much replace every part of the normal pre-game schedule these guys have been living for the past 8 weeks. These coaches believe in structure and do everything possible to maintain that structure. That structure remains the same whether a game is played at home or away. It's a shame the players can't participate tonight but I'd much rather have them focusing on their performance tomorrow. I also respect the structure and discipline that has been established by Coach Mac.
  20. I don't think I will be basing our talent level on an All Conference Team announced from the conference we are leaving. I just don't see the remaining conference members voting UNT and FIU players to the Sunbelt All Conference Teams this year.
  21. I believe Kirby is the only Freshman Lineman that has been traveling with the team which tells me he is on the brink of getting actual playing time. Really like the way he is shaping up!
  22. We're going to need some players to step up on Special Teams and at Wide Receiver. Hopefully Harris, Bynes, or someone we haven't heard much about, will take this opportunity to establish themselves this weekend against MTSU. A couple of unexpected holes to fill on Special Teams this week which could also significantly influence how this game plays out.
  23. Completely False Assumptions here. Chancellor not returning punts, Calling for Fair Catches, or not Fielding a punt is his choice to make. In fact, he has been ENCOURAGED by the coaches to step up his efforts to at least Field every punt in order to keep from making every opposing punter look like an All-American.
