Until they start attributing interceptions to receivers in regards to tips and bone headed route running, instead of putting those on the QB, the INTTD statistic is completely flawed as are a number of other "QB" passing statistics. I don't care if they've been doing this stat forever, it still does not necessarily give you a true picture of a QB's proficiency which is why the NFL Scouting folk don't even look at this stat unless it is completely lopsided one way or the other.

I like these once a year games with FCS teams. I like them due to the fact it should always allow us to empty our benches. Some guys sit on the sidelines for 1-4 years without ever getting a reward for working their butts off. They may only be scout or special team players without games like this and they deserve to take the field and feel like they contribute on the field. All the Rudy's out there deserve to see the field in regular action and these games provide for that.

Sneaky Pete's...Lots of additional Scenery to go along with the games on TV. -
The message from the two first timers I brought last night, "We had a great time !!! I think we will be calling the ticket office!" Oh, these two are huge Nebraska fans and have nothing tying them to North Texas. Maybe you guys are doing it wrong.

Yep, still around.

Drunken Donkey on Lewisville's Southside(3040) is where I get my public sports fix but I'm not sure if they can get TLN. Didn't check because I'm Austin bound!

North Texas goes as Special Teams goes, in my books. Looks like Keena might have moved into the starting Punter position and will handle KIckoffs, heard he also was put on scholarship. Looks like Macek will be regulated to holding on place kicks and extra points, maybe take some of the shorter punts (read inside 50). Still a battle between Dunham and Johnson for starting LS. Looks like Paul is holding onto the Kicker position over Moore. Looks like the coverage and return units are still a work in progress. I can't tell who will be returning kicks and punts but there are options. Edit: Looks like I missed on the Kicker.

I need two votes. From what I've seen, I'd be comfortable with either Mini-Mac or Greer taking this team into the season.

Scrimmage This Saturday, what time and is it open?
UNTnewbie replied to MeanGreen01's topic in Mean Green Football
Depending on your donation level, you do have access. -
Invites can go out at anytime up to the start of the Training camps. In fact, after the Mini camps, teams evaluate all the video from the Rookie Mini camp before determining which additional players will be extended training camp invites with the exception of players that really showed well during the rookie camp and were signed at that time. Just because you don't get signed right after the Rookie camp, doesn't mean you won't get a call later on in May and into June.
-
Rookie Contracts don't mean squat until you make the 53 man roster, or sign as a practice squad allotment, then the player gets 1/17th of their contract amount each week of the season. During Mini-Camps and Training Camps, players only get a per diem but that is really cash in hand for rookies since the team picks up the players room and board while they are in town for team activities. I think rookie minimum now is around 500K.

Is Dan Johnston gone?
UNTnewbie replied to Grant.UNT's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I believe Dan is still at UNT until May 4th. -
April 17 - "Dallas Day" for Thompson & Orr
UNTnewbie replied to jdennis82's topic in Mean Green Football
Dallas can only invite players from a certain radius and Copperas Cove is outside that Radius. The players they invite had to have played High School Ball inside this radius. I don't think Derek was there. Orr for sure and possibly Bellazin were invited to attend. The areas allotted to the local NFL Teams are very small. -
Who is your favorite UNT Assistant Football Coach?
UNTnewbie replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
My Ranking: Frank Wintrich (NT wouldn't be where we are without Coach Wintrich!) John Skladany ( Ditto for Skladany!) Mike Simmonds (Well worth the two slots in the poll!) Mike Grant (Really made a difference with the WR's last year) Kevin Patrick (Even with his limited exposure, this guy continues to rise in my list of favorites) Tommy Perry ( Glad Coach Mac started allowing Special Teams to take a few chances) Mike "Chico" Canales Nick Quartaro -
Joe Judge, New England Patriots, was at Apogee on Monday morning to put Brelan through a workout. Sounds like Brelan performed well. There was a player from Oklahoma State in attendance and both he and Brelan were catching punts/kickoffs from UNT-Ex Will Atterberry. Sounds like it was only a Specialist workout, no route running or QB's involved. I don't know for sure, but I think the other player was Josh Stewart although I didn't think he had graduated or declared for the NFL Draft. Brelan had the better showing of the two. GMG!

Who will be the UNT starting QB against UT? (POLL)
UNTnewbie replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Mini-Mac today. Spring might muddy the waters a bit. -
No.
-
You've made a solid choice! Coach Simmonds is one of the best OL Coaches in the nation and Coach Wintrich is top notch also. Make sure Bo listens and buys in to these guys, doing so will provide Bo the ability to excel on and off the field! So looking forward to his progress over the next 4-5 years! Good Luck and Welcome to the Mean Green Family!

Tee Goree named Max Preps 2nd Team All American
UNTnewbie replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes it is. -
So far, several seniors are receiving interest but are not the #1 choice at their position. In other words, they will get an invite if the guy (or guys) in front of them decline their invitations.

NAIA Schools can offer combinations of Athletic, Academic, and for need scholarships since they are not part of the NCAA house, not to mention there is no 5 year clock for athletes. The top NAIA programs are equal to or better than NCAA DII programs in all sponsored sports. The highest concentration of NAIA schools are located between the Mississippi river and the Rocky mountains but California has a number of strong programs.

Latest from the folks at Reunion/Hyatt Tower via email: ... You will be pleased to know that we are taking action on this already and will definitely have a show for UNT on the 31st and, if (NO, MAKE THAT WHEN) UNT wins the game, we will run a celebratory show for the Mean Green on the 1st... ***The Ball is visible from the Omni and I can't wait to see what they have in store for the Mean Green Nation!

Great Job 90 Grad! The Hunt Building will be running content containing University of North Texas on the buildings Ribbon display but only on January 1st, you'll have to stay downtown after the game to see the results and I think we will share time with Baylor. Hunt already has NYE content which they were unwilling to change. Reunion/Hyatt Tower is pretty much sticking with what has been reported by UNT 90 Grad. Still no final word from Fountain Place.
