  1. The PAC might elevate us 2-4 places in the AAC. So that's a positive.
  2. One problem is that nobody in the athletic department views UNT as a final position. Everyone (now including the players) appears to be looking for the Bigger Better Deal and doing the bare minimum to keep the current gig.
  3. Every time UNT has a chance to make a good impression it stumbles. EVERY. <CURSEWORD>. TIME. I've been a fan since 1988 and this just kills me. And of course it occurs when the PAC is starting to look east.
  4. UNT has been forever relegated to the basement due to NIL. The history of this institution has been a series of logical decisions that turned into disasters over and over, and the end result has put us in precisely the wrong spot at the worst time. There's no point in cheering high school signings, because if there is a breakout player they'll be yanked away by a P4 team. UNT cannot compete on a dollar-to-dollar basis. There's not enough intangibles (history, alumni network) to keep someone here when the payday is elsewhere. People love winners. Mediocre teams just have too much competition for things to do in the MetroMess. I see a long line of 5-7 seasons ahead. That will translate directly to an empty stadium, and indirectly to an apathetic alumni base. So, yay? Cheer for the Green and White? I have to say that the connection to a school that I attended in the last century is growing tenuous indeed.
  5. 30 hours without power so far. A good thing that I bought a portable generator after The Big Freeze. Window AC and fans are managing to keep the room comfortable. Still no cable internet, but a phone hotspot is doing ok. I'm going to lose a lot of frozen food 😞 Still, it's better than having a tornado take the house out. I can't complain too much.
  6. I was there. That was the second screw job by the refs that game.
  7. https://billfarley.substack.com/p/the-pac-2s-contracts-with-the-mwc The interesting thing is that 2Pac is not required to take ALL the MWC if they choose to rebuild the PacX.
  8. I think Michigan wins, but I'm rooting for Washington. It strikes my fancy that the Pac12 would win a Championship just before imploding.
  9. I think the roadmap is to not be competitive in the ACC until they can buy their way into non-competition in the B1G
  10. Perhaps not
  11. I am curious why UNT hasn't organized a Bowl game at Apogee (errr. DATCU) stadium. It's a good looking venue, and a CUSU or Sunbelt matchup would be a good fit.
  12. FSU so *very* excited about those new ACC members . . .
  13. Man, I hate how the final 2 minutes of a bball game lasts a half-hour. edit: And they can't even pick a winner. Can we send this junk to ESPNews for overtime?
  14. 7 years is longer than the average NFL career. I'm going to watch the game on TV, but there's some dumb bouncing-ball game on the channel now.
  15. On a side note, Bally Sports Southwest has a free 7 day trial, which will cover the playoff weekend if you start tomorrow. https://www.uiltexas.org/football/state/football-state-championships-broadcast-information
  16. At least the NFL has a salary cap to keep the league somewhat competitive.
  17. Ok -- then remove the scholarships and room&board subsidies. Remember school? Education? At modern prices, they ARE getting paid a pretty solid chunk of change.
  18. .500 ball is *elevated*?
  19. Following such greats as Todd Dodge, Darrell Dickey, and Dan McCarney. I hope Morris can reverse a 30 40-year trend . . .
  20. They're leaving and had nothing positive to say on the way out. I'm glad they get a lousy bowl. And it appears that SMU is jumping from one G5 conference to another 🙂
  21. Pathetic. FSU did EVERYTHING they were supposed to do, and some SEC bootlickers just couldn't live without their whiny conference. ACC joins AAC as a G5 . . .
  22. With Delaware joining CUSA, 33 teams have changed or will change conferences since the OU/UT action. That's about a quarter of FBS teams (including those moving up) You can also figure about another 6-8 when 2PAC works itself out after 2025.
