  1. Well this has turned out interesting indeed
  2. Cougars. From what I can remember, I apparently had a great 1 semester at that school

  4. I expect "normal" for UNT. 6-6 and a loss in the WhoCares Bowl on Dec 13 at 2 PM. This game doesn't change that. I'd love to be wrong, but 33 years of fandom tells me to temper expectations.
  5. One thing about this UTEP game -- it's making me realize that if we somehow got a miracle PAC12 invite, I'd never stay awake through a whole game.
  6. I suppose it's a good thing Mr. Bennet isn't miked up 🙂
  7. I'm just glad we didn't start with Austin Peay
  8. Argh, out-of-sync mouths annoy me so much. Great work, Stadium. And I'm watching on over-the-air, so it's in the broadcast itself.
  9. And to think the entire UNT schedule was on broadcast TV their first season to return to Div IA. Now we need 8 streaming services. Hurrah CUSA!
  10. I don't know if it's still the case, but when KNTU went to 100K watts (I was a student DJ then), there was some special directional tuning in place to keep it from blanketing other stations. It was explained to me that meant the signal was actually weaker in the metromess than the power indicated.
  11. Sure, let's dilute the image of the school once more. Everything that is unique about North Texas gets tossed aside in the name of money, "updates", or just trying to be more like every other generic school out there. It's a damned shame. Full disclosure: I spent my time at Smith Hall, scrambling to learn enough about jazz to not look like a total idiot on air.
  12. Just to throw this out there: assuming a weakened PACXX somehow comes calling for UNT, do you take that chance? Is a spot in a weak traditional P5 better than a spot in a strong G5? Remember that the P5 isn't just a media name, the conferences are actually under a different ruleset as named "autonomy conferences".
  13. It's a shame SEC Shorts is in off-season.
  14. https://fbschedules.com/sam-houston-hawaii-schedule-2024-2025-home-and-home-football-series/ Sam Houston State gets a home and home with Hawaii, and it's not in 2039 or whatever. How did they manage it?
  15. I'm been a Mean Green fan since 87. That's just experience talking. In fact, if you're looking at records since we returned to D1/BCS/(whatever) competition, 5-7 is overperforming. But it's mostly just having a bit of fun with the calendar.
  16. 🙂
  17. Sure, but you can go 7-9 and still be bowl eligible . . .
  18. https://sunbeltsports.org/news/2022/2/28/sun-belt-releases-2022-football-schedule-including-four-new-members.aspx So that's at least 2 games that we have a pretty decent shot to win . . .
  19. A State or one of its subsidiaries can invoke sovereign immunity (unless the case involves certain Constitutional rights, which wouldn't apply here). A public school is considered a state subsidiary. Texas A&M used immunity not too long ago to fend off angry Texas Wesleyan law school alumni.
  20. I'm sorry, but with over half of the teams in FBS going to a bowl every year, that's really not a good metric any longer. Back in the 70s when there were 15 bowl games, sure. These days, when the powers that be literally created the "Participation Ribbon Bowl" for us and didn't even bother to repaint the football field, bowl games mean little. How about winning records and conference championships?
  21. There's zero chance that this is our actual 2022 schedule.
  22. A 10-year plan for success would be a godsend for UNT. I've been a student or fan for 34 years and there's never (on-field) sustained success. It's been almost 20 years since we won a conference championship. (and no, low-end bowls are not "success", when there's 40+ of them. Bowl games meant something when they were rarities, not over half the teams in the NCAA)
