  1. Awesome win. The kids just would not quit! Coming back to Denton with a W! Now light that Tower!
  2. I was listening to the game and I heard them talk about that hit. Putting the "Mean" back in "Mean Green"!
  3. We haven't played you in five years, but sure, come on our board, accuse us of not being cute and funny when we always are, just because you are upset that U of H have had, shall we say, a slow start to the season. Things will look up soon, I feel that Cincy, TCU and Iowa State are yours for the taking. And I'm pretty sure Rice does not want to play you guys either but for probably different reasons.
  4. There used to be a "Dallas Telegragh College". That'd be awesome to have a shirt available for that long defunct institution of higher education.
  5. Sure, Jan. Here's an article to recap the Owls double overtime victory last year, in case you'd like to review it: https://news.rice.edu/news/2023/owls-capture-bayou-bucket-after-captivating-overtime-shootout
  6. Those old deranged state senators from the University of South Texas are proprietary about their name. I guess they got distracted by A&M long enough to let our name change sneak through.
  7. I just have three things to say: 1) God bless our troops, 2) God bless America, and 3)...... Go Rice Owls!
  8. I was there in Lubbock for the wins in 1988, 1997, 1999. Pretty awesome. We were underdogs and came to play.
  9. Thought it was just me! I appreciate the commentary on the thread so I can keep up with the game.
  10. I'm so proud of Coach Orr! I loved watching him play. I'm so happy for his success!
  11. I know it's not sexy, but we're gonna need a kicker. A good one.
  12. Was George helpful at all?????lol
  13. It's odd, isn't it. A million years ago when I was an undergrad, we'd have weekend parties, and these friends/people I knew at SMU always wanted to come to our parties. So we'd say sure and they'd show up and be the last ones to leave (finally). Eventually I drove down to one of theirs and then understood why they always came to Denton.
  14. I tortured myself by watching that play again. That SOB Kaleb Oliver and those MF Refs. Gutless cowards for reversing that call.
  15. I'll truly miss watching Oscar play. It felt like we really got to know him. He battled through some injuries and came out the other side.
  16. I always sensed those guys were just stopping by. You are right, Oscar is not that.
  17. For some reason, Oscar's transfer hurts. All those injuries, I always rooted for him to succeed. I wish him well, but I was hoping to see him wear Mean Green until he ran out of eligibility.
  18. I agree. He's been succesful but he shows up in interviews like he's still at Gilmer Middle School. But the Aggies would probably like that. He'd fit right in.
  19. As much as I hate this game, I hate the ESPN announcers worse.
  20. Spouse has a degree from UVA, so we may end up representing the Commonwealth when UVA ventures down here.
  21. Helwig banned tailgating? And is he the one who did not understand how Title IX worked and ended up cutting men's soccer? And I cannot believe we tolerated Rick V for 15 years. I mean, in some ways it seemed like longer but seriously....
  22. Not too far from my hometown of Duncanville! If I were visiting my mom tomorrow, I'd stop by! But alas I'm in East Texas so I guess I'm watching by myself......
  23. Full of angst? Full of anger and anxiety? Lots of hand-wringing at any rate. Way too much wind bringing the aroma of the feed lots to the people forced to live there (like myself for a few years). The South Plains is a whole other world and sometimes it needs new vocabulary to tap into all that goes on there. Let's just say they are not happy they lost to Wyoming and they are being quite dramatic about it.
  24. Whenever a Pony gets on our board, I hear their comments in a Thurston Howell III voice. "Lovie, we have so very much attendance and endowment! Now where's the cavier? I say, Gilligan, bring us more champagne!"
