2021 North Texas Football Way Too Early Schedule Predictions Sept. 4 Northwestern State - UNT will win this one big at home 44-14 Sept. 11 at SMU - SMU is still too much although UNT gives a valiant effort 35-21 Sept. 18 UAB* - UAB is still the best team in the conference especially at home. UAB wins 31-17 Sept. 25 at Louisiana Tech* - A very close game but Tech pulls ahead at home to win by a hair. La Tech wins 28-23 Oct. 2 Bye Oct. 9 at Missouri - UNT makes this interesting but beating a crappy SEC team on the road is still a bit too much. Missou 45 UNT 35 Oct. 16 Marshall* - I think UNT will win this game at home against a down Marshall program that is rebuilding. UNT 45 Herd 31 Oct. 23 Liberty - I am sorry to say but Liberty has too much talent. UNT will come up short against Hugh Freeze 31-17 Oct. 30 at Rice* - Rice is improving a lot but I see us winning this on the road in 2021. UNT 28 Rice 21 Nov. 6 at Southern Miss* - USM is still tough especially on the road. UNT loses 27-24 Nov. 13 UTEP* - UTEP is getting better but UNT still has their number especially at home. UNT 41- UTEP 21 Nov. 20 at FIU* - Very tough game against Butch Davis on the road. This one could go either way so I will give NT the edge in a defensive struggle 23-21. Nov. 27 UTSA* - UTSA may be the darkhorse team this season and sadly may be better than us on this day. UTSA 38-UNT 35 Final record prediction 5-7 but good news is we will get to a bowl game because there are not enough teams to fill the spots again this season. Also this team is much improved from last year, the defense improves a lot and the 2022 season looks very bright.

Good for him although it will be a hard road to get back into coaching after everything they have put him through on this. I wish him and his family the best.

6)---"Mean" Joe Greene Joe Greene got his nickname playing collegiate football for the North Texas Mean Green defense. One of the best defensive linemen in NFL history, Greene was a 10-time Pro Bowl selection and a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers "Steele Curtain" defensive line in the 1970s. Greene, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of fame in 1987, played 13 seasons in the NFL (1969-1981), all with the Steelers. Usually, controversies involving Antonio Brown arise from his own behavior. The latest issue regarding Brown flows from something other than anything he’s done. Three weeks after Brown agreed to terms on a return to the Buccaneers, Brown still isn’t part of the roster. Coach Bruce Arians disclosed that Brown had knee surgery on Tuesday, and that he has yet to pass a physical. Until Brown passes a physical, he won’t be on the team. It’s hard not to be curious about the timing of the news of Brown’s agreement to return to the Bucs — one day before the 2021 draft began — and the fact that the Bucs traded up in round four to get North Texas receiver Jaelon Darden. A cynic would say that the Bucs struck the deal with Brown the day before the draft so that other teams wouldn’t think they’d be looking to draft another receiver. The fact that they gave up a sixth-round pick to move up to get Darden shows that they definitely were targeting the position. read more: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/05/19/antonio-brown-situation-raises-several-questions/

The are one of our opponents this season and pretty much every season. Think of it like a scouting report. -

The response I have always heard was they don't want to "half-ass" it, meaning they want a new stadium to completed and a good solid budget to be in place etc. I do agree the UTSA doing it is a valid argument, especially since UTSA has a much smaller overall budget. I would love to see a comparison of UTSA's budget against ours. My sense is that our AD office and coaches salaries are much higher than what they pay for theirs.

TAMPA, FL - Jaelon Darden can move. “Being able to make guys miss, I feel like that’s what I do best,” said the Bucs’ rookie wide receiver. He’s already turning heads in just two short days of practice. “He’s super quick,” said Bucs head coach Bruce Arians. “Super quick and fast and catches the football extremely easily so, yea, he can be very explosive.” It’s easy to spot Darden on the field. He’s the little guy running around in the number one. While NFL players are celebrating the ability to wear the single digits of their youth or college days, Darden is cherishing that number for a whole different reason. “My dad (saw) me play in #1 so that means more to me than anything,” said Darden. read more: https://www.baynews9.com/fl/tampa/sports/2021/05/16/news-bucs-wr-jaelon-darden-making-his-late-father-proud

DRC: DE Jimmy Walker enters transfer portal
meangreen11 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Explains all of the numbers at the position. I was concerned that this might be why we were adding transfers. I worry about the other young kid from Houston as well now. Always a sad day when a Houston recruit doesn't work out for us. -
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Former NFL head coach and 30-year coaching veteran Scott Linehan has joined the Tigers staff as an offensive analyst, it was announced Thursday by Mizzou football head coach Eliah Drinkwitz. Most recently, Linehan served as Passing Game Coordinator at LSU (2020) and as Offensive Coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys (2015-18). “Scott Linehan is an exciting addition to our staff,” Drinkwitz said. “He’s a true veteran of the profession with experience at a variety of levels. We all look forward to working with him.” Linehan played quarterback at Idaho from 1982-86, earning team offensive MVP honors in 1986 when he led the team to an 8-4 overall mark and a berth in the I-AA playoffs. In 1984, Linehan passed for 2,407 yards and 17 TDs and then in 1986, he threw for 3,954 yards and 22 scores. He and his wife, Kristen, have three sons: Matt, Michael and Marcus. Matt – also a former Idaho quarterback (2014-17) – is currently a graduate assistant with Mizzou. Michael played collegiately at Idaho (2015-16) and North Texas (2018-19). read more: https://www.ozarkradionews.com/sports/nfl-veteran-scott-linehan-joins-football-coaching-staff
