  1. We lost starting RB Trey Siggurs and lock down corner Cam Johnsons and our starting QB Jason Bean and starting OL Anterrius Grey as well so yeah we lost some damn starters we sure did indeed.
  2. Dr. Suzanne Enck is the chair of communication studies at UNT and uses it for classes on social movements. “I was astonished to see that suddenly CRT is a thing, that people, that lay people are interested in this and invested in it,” Enck said. It’s not a new concept. It’s been around for decades and started with legal scholars in the 1970s and 1980s. “They said ‘Great, the civil rights movement has come and gone. There have been all these changes. All these new civil rights laws and yet racial inequality persists. Why is that?'” Krochmal asked. Both say CRT is less about attitudes like racism and more how race can lead to different outcomes in housing, justice or banking systems and more. “Critical race theory isn't this theory that says all white people are bad, all Black people are oppressed,” Enck said. read more: https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/what-is-critical-race-theory-north-texas-professors-explain-highly-debated-topic/287-f61d01ca-fd84-4e86-9f36-2cb2bca5ebc9

  3. HUNTINGTON — The good news is that North Texas’ offense was the best offense in Conference USA last season. The bad news that the North Texas defense was one of the worst defenses in FBS, if not THE worst. That porous defense led Seth Littell’s bunch to a losing record overall and even in Conference USA, which was not the expectation coming into a season in which they featured one of the nation’s best receivers in Jaelon Darden. Unfortunately for the Mean Green, Darden is gone to the NFL and the defensive problems still are present. Former SMU head coach Phil Bennett takes over the defense, which is a big step forward, but North Texas needs more than Bennett’s expertise to fix a defense that allowed an FBS-worst 43 points while also yielding 522 yards per game. The good news for Bennett is that, from a production standpoint, there are plenty of pieces returning who can help. Up front, All-Conference USA tackle Dion Novil returns and there is young talent at the end spots with Grayson and Gabriel Murphy, but defending the run and getting a more consistent pass rush are pivotal to improving the 2020 numbers. read more: https://www.herald-dispatch.com/sports/2021-marshall-football-opponents-north-texas-has-to-improve-defense/article_88448e57-cd3f-5230-9726-58e5c1f6a1be.html

  5. Florida International: 4.5 Wins Well, that was a forgetful year. Butch Davis has been coaching football for a long time, with a lot of successful seasons under his belt, but even the veteran HC had no answers for the debacle that was 2020. A common theme among teams that struggled last year, FIU was hit extremely hard by COVID. However, this past season came on the heels of a 6-7 record in 2019. Is the program slipping a bit? A main reason the Golden Panthers struggled was a complete lack of a passing game. Davis shuffled in three different QBs under center but none were effective. Max Bortenschlager and Kaylan Wiggins return while a couple of freshmen come into the program. Someone has to step up and lead this offense that is returning four starting offensive linemen and two solid RBs. Defensively, the unit should be much improved this year. They have one of the best secondaries in the conference and are loaded with upperclassmen throughout the starting 11. Butch Davis has always been able to bring in defensive talent and deserves the benefit of the doubt coming into the season. read more: https://www.sportsgamblingpodcast.com/2021/06/21/college-football-win-total-predictions-conference-usa-east-ncaaf-over-under-middle-tennessee-state-charlotte/
  6. I think it will mainly change things for the very elite college football and basketball players. Those are the only two sports that make money. Right now there are age restrictions that incentivize/force super athletes to stay in college for a period of time before they move up to the professional leagues. I look for these to be immediately removed. So you won't see a Tony Mitchell be a one and done he would just go directly to the league. Secondly, I think that you will see more of the secondary sports like track softball etc dropped at a lot of schools because more of the pie will go to the major revenue athletes that can generate $. This is going to change things no doubt but the silver lining is that removing the money from the NCAA will revert things back to more of an amatuer type of league like it was before.
  7. Thank you for posting this. Very encouraging.
  8. If she chose to leave UNT to transfer to OU due to their people and culture doesn't that imply that UNT's lack thereof was why she left?
  9. It's the only one you need really. It's really complete and thorough.
  10. "I'm excited to join Oklahoma softball because of the people and culture," Trautwein said in the press release. "In the past when playing against OU, they have always been a class-act program with players who genuinely love the game.” read more: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/college/oklahoma/.amp/softball/oklahoma-softball-announces-portal-addition
  11. I’m concerned. We lose Hair Griffin as a return guy and there is no definitive answer at kicker and punter. Special teams could make or break us this season.
  12. His argument is the strength of conference schedule helps the AAC whence compared to the other G5 conferences but your point is well taken. another interesting ramification might be that we see more FCS programs wanting to move up to G5 now that they can boast a place at the playoff table.

  15. After going 2-0 and losing every game after that in the playoffs? You definitely stand by your man!
  16. To my understanding Ivy league schools do not offer traditional athletic scholarships. Found this online: So if you have a financial need they can assist you with books tuition and living expenses. My understanding is that the same applies for the service academies either: So given that to enter one of the service academies requires an appointment from a member of congress and outstanding grades, extra curricular etc, you could say that an athlete might receive a commendation over a regular applicant with higher stats. They do not offer athletic scholarships.
  17. When a low tier P5 starts to win in recruiting the big boys don’t like it. Shame on ASU but this was going on at bigger places no doubt and ASU gets to be the example.
  18. I think it’s clear - if you are a high school player and perform at a G5 you will be targeted by high level conference schools. It’s really sad because tampering is against the rules but the NCAA is scared to death to do anything about it.
