  1. Proud to have a US Congressman supporting my beloved Mean Green!
  2. Yep just like the leftover Big 12 schools have no value now that UT has left them.

  4. Any particular reason or just gut feel? I think it’s an easy travel game and my wife likes shopping there so makes it easier to convince her to let me go.
  5. Looks like we may be trying to reconfigure the Southland conference with these announced games.
  6. Agreed and part of it is Hed is doing the SMU thing were he recruits lots of big school transfers. He used to do mainly high school players only.
  7. Finally, we have the junior transfer from North Texas, Jason Bean. Even though he doesn’t have any experience with Kansas football, he appears to be the one in the quarterback’s room with the most college football experience. Last year with North Texas, Bean threw for 1131 yards off 79 completions, 14 touchdowns, and five interceptions in eight games. Leipold spoke about Bean at media days as well, stating, “Jason Bean is new and he’s learning his teammates and what it’s about. He’s got length. He runs well.” If you’re looking at the numbers, it appears Bean could be the favorite to take the starting spot on Week 1. read more: https://throughthephog.com/2021/07/29/kansas-football-who-win-starting-qb-job/
  8. They can’t. Our ship is tied to SMU. Best case scenario is b12 survives and adds programs like BYU, Boise and also Houston and SMU from AAC. That would open up a window with AAC or possibly Mountain West.
  9. Pretty much. I mean that’s our collective hope no?
  10. I will give credit where it is due. At least the American is clawing and scratching to better their lot in the NCAA.
  11. Agree 100%. The more I look at this I think the Pac10 and Big10 have no incentive to add any of the leftover Big 12 schools. Everyone would love to add Notre Dame but I think they would prefer to remain independent. And I don’t see SEC adding anymore teams because it will push too close to monopolistic practices. They will be able to add UT and OU and will stick With that for the time being. Each of the leftover Big 12 teams will be incentivized to keep the Big 12 in place for awhile because UT and OU owe them about 20 million smackeroos each as long as the Big 12 remains intact. The Big 12 Will raid AAC but they will not share any of the leftover big 12 money with any of the new additions. Here’s the most perverse thing. The Big 12 should make moves to create a revised SWC by adding Houston and SMU etc but they won’t because Baylor, Tech and TCU are concerned that doing so will elevate those programs into bigger and better programs than they are because of where they are located (Dallas and Houston).
  12. Both were former assistants and were in their first D1 head coaching position. Both played the game and were good college players. Stoops came to Norman in 1999 with limited experience in the region. Similarly Littrell did not have experience in the DFW region other than occasional recruiting endeavors. Stoops hired Mike Leach as his offensive coordinator and opened up the air raid. Littrell was an assistant under Mike Leach and considered a disciple of the air raid. Of course OU is a power program and has totally different resources etc. That said, OU was pretty down before Stoops got there and had hit hard times under John Blake. I think you could argue UNT has similar resources (facilities salaries) if you compare it to other CUSA programs. What I see is two new head coaches that started off ok in year one and exploded in years 2-3. After that one coach continued to win and win big and the other regressed. Why is that? Recruiting and assistant coaching hires come to mind but I am sure there are other reasons as well.
  13. Schools deserve some blame as well tho. They haven’t given much for the conference to work with. There hasn’t been a team like Houston who almost made it into the money bowls way back when since the new group formed.
  14. I don’t think there is a more hated program in the country than Texas right now
  15. Agreed. And of course Thanksgiving Day is about to get fun as well.
