  1. Is not about whether or not this is real or not. It is real. How long will it take us to be competitive in this conference? The level of competition is going to be challenging to say the least. SMU, Tulane, Navy, UTSA, Tulsa and Rice all appear to be on the upswing and we seem to be way behind. I feel alite but better about basketball but Memphis Wichita State and Temple will be tough there as well. We just flat out can’t afford another learning on the job hire in football. It’s really the most critical hire in our history. Wren needs to get this one right.
  2. It’s official or they wouldn’t have leaked it. Great news for UNT!
  3. Why is Navy projected to be in the west?
  4. It’s the UNT chip on shoulder thing definitely. This conference is a huge step up and we should be thrilled to be a part of it.

  8. Jim - I’m a fan of you. Where do we go from here man? Seems like a bad situation.
  9. That just boggles my mind. This was a TOP TEN Offense last season. What a farce. We were never good we just had one of the worst defenses in the history of college football

  11. He had a good run but it’s time to step down and hand the reigns to Phil Bennett as interim. UNT needs to position this as a Tom Herman’s type of termination. “Thank you Tom for raising the level but it is time to take the next step…”
  12. Appreciate your positive attitude. It is hard to come by these days.
  13. 1 – Run Defense It is hard to win football games when the rushing defense allows almost 350 yards per game. That is what has happened to the Tigers over the last four games as a collection of SEC and non-conference foes have just had their way with Mizzou on the ground. Be it scheme or desire – or likely a mixture of the two – teams are gashing Missouri with chunk plays and also extending drives with shorter pickups on the ground. The Mean Green have a back in DeAndre Torrey who went for 119 yards against Louisiana Tech last time out so expect to see North Texas running the ball until the Tigers stop them. read more: https://14powers.com/sec-football/11430/missouri-football-3-keys-north-texas/
  14. What to Know The North Texas Mean Green fans better hope the squad plays one heck of a game on Saturday as the odds are decidedly against them. Their week off comes to an end as they meet up with the Missouri Tigers at 4 p.m. ET at Memorial Stadium at Faurot Field. Given that these two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest. The Mean Green came up short against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs two weeks ago, falling 24-17. Meanwhile, Mizzou took a serious blow against the Tennessee Volunteers last week, falling 62-24. Mizzou was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 45-10. QB Connor Bazelak wasn't much of a difference maker for the Tigers; Bazelak threw two interceptions. North Texas is now 1-3 while Mizzou sits at 2-3. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: North Texas is 205th worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with nine on the season. Mizzou has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 247th most rushing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 17 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up. 15. Wouldn't UTSA have to get Board of Regent approval to exit C-USA and also be required to pay exit fees? And don't they and UTEP share the same BOR as the flagship? And won't UT have to pay some nasty exit fees soon if they wish to move over to the AAC or any other conference? I just think it needs to be stated that these secondary system schools have a distinct disadvantage when it comes to switching conferences. They also have extreme limitations in regards to fundraising as they will always be considered secondary to the flagship when it comes to cultivating the biggest donors. Would think UAB has some issues in that particular regard as well. Is the Alabama BOR going to approve them spending millions in buyout fees to move to a conference that has already been poached of its best teams and will most certainly lose more in the coming weeks as well? As far as them being hot in football or whatever, they could easily lose their coach to a P5 and end up with another Frank Wilson. These conference commissioners are making big dough, like 400-500K salaries and car allowance etc. They will do whatever they can to continue doing that for as long as they can. So they will put ANY deal together that buys them more security and more years of great compensation. That is the only thing that concerns me about all this is that the conference commissioners are looking after themselves and their staff more than the schools they represent.
  16. I actually like this idea a lot. It is risky but what do we have to lose. It's either this or go back to the Belt hat in hand.
  17. Mike, Kevin Sumlin has the infamous designation of losing not one, but TWO 5-star QB's in one freaking football season (Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray). NO THANKS!
  18. So how much longer are you willing to give him. I am with you to a point, I hate to change coaches again but damn man this dude has been here 6 years now!
  19. I agree - if they were smart they would grab up the 3 biggest markets in texas. That makes a lot of sense but as we all know the little boys in the conference like Wyoming will cry bloody murder about it.
  20. Great photos. Sounds like a nice trip.
  21. This whole situation is a mess and it is because the AAC, CUSA and MWC have no control over what the Big 12 does or does not do. So, in the meantime, we should be forming block alliances with the best schools in C-USA with the intent to work together and navigate this as a team. For instance, in CUSA would like to align with Rice, UTSA, and La Tech, maybe Southern Miss. I would also be interested in forming an alliance with Texas State, and Tulsa/Tulane. I am probably missing some schools but you get the picture. I know some will say we have no loyalty to one another and that is true. The reality is geography is important to our institutions for financial and attendance and so much more. Our band will never travel to another road game in the Mountain west. That means something to me. Tulsa does not have the budget to fly their teams across both coasts. They just don't especially in a post covid environment. Even if the alliance is informal, we need to decide which schools we want to be a part of and start communicating and working together. If we don't we will all become slaves to an east coast TV company that could give 2 shits about our university.
