Johnny called Zach yesterday and told him he had a great practice, didn't drop a single ball. They told him they were impressed with his practice and to hang on as there will be people dropped from the roster. He felt real upbeat about his opportunities at New Orleans.
-
I definately will and we will see everyone at the games this next season.

Johnny called Zach last night to let him know that he had received a call from the Saints and he is headed to New Orleans. He was real excited to receive the call. We wish him the best!

Congratulations to Zach and the other graduates. I was hoping that Zach would get an extra year from the NCAA. His career came to a close too early. The best thing that happened to him, though, was getting that degree. We have had some outstanding all conference athletes who did not leave with a degree. Ten years down the road, Zach will be miles ahead of them. Thanks for your congratulations to Zach, thought I would share a little interesting tidbit. Zach got home on Sunday and he went to visit a couple of his old high school coaches, one is still in Alvin, TX and the other has moved to Kempner High, in Fort Bend Co. They both informed him that Dickey was at their respective schools on Monday recruiting! He went as far as telling one of them that the reason he wasn't still at North Texas was because he didn't do a good enough job! Zach got a kick out of that!

Zach's folks drove with us to Arkansas in the game that he was hurt. Zach will be missed...as will his great parents. Zach gave his heart to the Mean Green...and will be missed. Zach thanks for all your great efforts. Zach along with his dad and I were a little surprised yesterday when he was told that his medical redshirt had been denied. We really felt that the NCAA would grant it under the circumstances. Zach was disappointed, as he so looked forward to playing for the new coaches at North Texas. However, life does go on and we will continue to support the University of North Texas I will be calling to purchase our season tickets in the next week. Zach has alot of friends that will still be playing this next year and it will be an exciting year! Thank you all for your kind words it is really appreciated, and we look forward to tailgating with everyone in the Fall!

Like MM were the players showing they

I know several of the players like the black but also commented these looked like Jr. High Jerseys. If they would have been approved jerseys they might have looked a little classier, once again the players were used as scape goats to say he was doing something nice for them when really that was his way to get back at RV and the alumni. Do you really think any of these players are going to tell the coach no, I won't wear that jersey? I know my son wouldn't because like or dislike the coach he is your superior and that is how we raised him! -

What makes any of you think this was the player's idea. They may have wore them but they didn't purchase them as has been suggested on this board. There were other things that happened in the locker room at half time that should be of more concern than the uniforms they were wearing. -
This is not the only thing that has been done in poor taste but I will say no more until this season is over. I just wanted everyone to know that this is exactly what was said to the players and I will tell you I am a player's mother so I do have first hand knowledge of it.

It is true, that is exactly what he told the players.

I just wanted to share with everyone on the board that Zach found out today that he has been chosen to represent UNT at the NCAA Leadership Conference in Lake Buena Vista, Florida May 28th - June 1st. As his mother, I am extremely proud that he works as hard at his studies as he does football. It seems that it is always being discussed the players who don't take care of business in the classroom so I find it refreshing to read about the one's who do. We think UNT is a great school and we are happy for Zach to be there. On a side note, our daughter has been accepted at UNT and will start there as a freshman in the fall. GO MEAN GREEN!!!

No, practice was cancelled.

You are missing the point I was trying to make and that is that we are all aware this is a board of opinions and it should be! No one including me says that when they sign that scholarship that they should not be held accountable and willing to accept what comes with it. I don't think it is advantageous for them to read alot of the posts on this board period. Just because you have been around UNT for 25 years does not make you an expert on the players or how they feel about any of the coaches. I haven't and won't comment on how my son feels about any of the coaches but I promise you I know more than you do about his feelings in that area along with some of the other players who have visited my home. I will leave it at that. I totally agree that these players should be held accountable for their grades as it is a priviledge to have your schooling paid for, that has always been a priority at our home long before college football. Once again, this is only my opinion in which I am entitled to just as you are yours!

The point I wanted to make was exactly what you stated, this is a board for people to rant (not always what parents want to read, I'll be honest) but the fact of the matter is my son is getting his education at a school he thoroughly enjoys and at the end of the day that is all that truly all that matters to me as a parent!! I have truly enjoyed the experiences we have had in tailgating at UNT and we have met alot of nice people, a few people should remember that it is someone's kid they are talking about and if you have ever been a parent you understand the old "you can talk about me but don't you dare talk about my kid" that is why I feel it is best that my son don't read this board. Hey, if they say something good about them tell them, it make's their day and if they say something bad, what they don't know don't hurt them! I believe all of these boys are very competitive or they wouldn't be playing the game and none of them want or like to lose regardless of where the blame lies!

This thread inspired me to actually become a registered user. I have always looked at the board only as a guest, and yes I am a player's mom. My son is now a Jr. and it has taken me this long to not let comments made on this board not get under my skin as a parent! I know alot of the boys may read this board but I would guess there are several who do not, as I know my son feels that most of the people on the board don't really have a clue as to really what goes on behind the scenes and he knows this is only opinions of alot people who have never played the sport or any sport for that matter. Meangreenpop, take their comments with a grain of salt and give your son some advise. Don't read the board!
