It Starts And Ends With The Head Coach!
Green Nightmare replied to meangreenbob's topic in Mean Green Football
Here is a diff way to slice that with about the same results. CHFF 2009 UNT Points 280 Total Yards 4,189 YPP 14.96 Conf Rank 52008 UNT Points 240 Total Yards 4,356 YPP 18.15 Conf Rank 82007 UNT Points 298 Total Yards 4,901 YPP 16.45 Conf Rank 62006 UNT Points 154 Total Yards 2,786 YPP 18.09 Conf Rank 52005 UNT Points 157 Total Yards 2,991 YPP 19.05 Conf Rank 72004 UNT Points 309 Total Yards 4,128 YPP 13.36 Conf Rank 2 Kind of jumping the gun here, I am trying to put together a total comparison of all those quality stats amongst the belt teams and across the Dodge/Dickey eras. Mainly to see if that D was as good as w e thought and is this one as bad. Also to compare the offenses and the teams in conference -

I'm Still Not Freaking Out.

Chuck was great at Air Force as QB/Off Co. However he did play safety, so I am alarmed at the shortcomings in the secondary. However I think its the corner play coupled with the scheme -
Business is business. So we should keep crappy coaches that are extraordinary human beings? I think relations are still good with Vic. He got a money game from us tonight for Newman

Harbaugh I think interviewed for the job or was supposed to before taking the Stanford job -
I think the fact we were left out of CUSA and that SMU voiced their displeasure with us being considered

This is the bigger problem along with the Preview Day They also were not allowed to sell them at the Mean Green Kickoff Cookout. I mean wtf, the day we lose people like Kram etc is a very sad day. It's just like the loss of Greenstock. I've never seen a business, UNT Athletics, make it so hard to do business

Being from the Northeast I gravitated to the NT Basketball program first then eventually football 00-04. I am starting to get the same feeling I got watching Vic all those nights in the Superpit. It is eerie because he sure did recruit some talent, ala Dodge. One good thing was I did find out about GMG/Harry'sMeanGreenReport due to those games

ditto mine came on the same day. WKU and Monroe

ahh, that was one of them. I had even forgot about that.

Champagne Taste Vs. Beer Pocketbook
Green Nightmare replied to Cr1028's topic in Mean Green Football
How do we know we are going to be able to afford that? If so basically you are saying that 250k is what is holding back this decision fire TD and to hire a top notch coach. -
I agree with most everything and I am usually very optimistic about the program. However the 2 points above are part of the reason I feel we make the change now. I see nothing in this team that makes me think we can win 7 games next year. If TD feels the pressure to win, do I need another year of reaching for JC recruits in an effort to win now to save his job. At the expense of the future. I loved the TD hire and still think highly of him. Part of me thinks he has this learning curve and will figure it out. The other part of me is disturbed that we have to put up with it and that it still is not figured out. Also if someone like Kragthorpe or the like is available and willing, then lets do it. Although I am still partial to Carthel for some reason as well.

BG Daily The move to terminate Elson’s contract will apparently cost the university $500,000 in buyout money. In January, the WKU Board of Regents approved a proposal from Selig to extend Elson’s contract through the 2016 season. Selig told the Daily News in 2008 that he had no plans on judging the seventh year coach on wins and losses during the transition until the 2011 season. “(Elson) does not need to doubt for a minute - nor do those on his staff or our student-athletes - that we aren’t totally behind what they’re doing and how they’re doing it. Because we are,” Selig told the Daily News in the Nov. 19, 2008, story. “I don’t think it’s fair to really evaluate them by that standard alone until possibly 2011, when the (redshirt freshman starting safety) Ryan Beards of our program are redshirt seniors, and we’ve had a chance to stay true to our philosophy of recruiting an entire class - be it 20 to 25 student-athletes, redshirt them, develop them physically and academically to put them in the best position for success. “In 2011, that’ll be the first year that we have an entire program full of student-athletes who have signed on for (Division I-A) football. To me, that’s when the evaluation truly begins from a win-loss standpoint.” I say RV may need to get to judging as well $500k is about the same out we have

Kram, i agree completely If only NT was Denton's Team as it is Austins. Maybe we should not let any other Cities rejects move to Denton You see sometimes the support of Athletics here only goes one way. Notice any establishments missing from this press release of Watching Parties. MG Sports Press Release I wish there was job for like local business liason at the AD dept. I'd jump in a heartbeat

I am guessing the Pourhouse. You can name it, we are all adults no ones feeling will get hurt. First let me say, when I was at NT, I hated this as well. You can't force school spirit on people. It's a culture and as best I could tell prior to say RV, there was no real culture up there to sustain this sort of school spirit. I'm not sure really how you combat the problem. I suppose you could mandate NT gear on the game days. I wouldn't judge the Pourhouse or GMG for aligning with them on something like this. I'd blame the Athletic Dept and University of years past. FYI, there are a lot of those schools "rejects" myself included that came here and are big supporters. It's all a state of mind

espn game plan and TXA21

There is indeed a watch party. As best we can tell there are no other major competing games, so it should be all NT in the media room. I think Nick and Harry were working on a post.

Kram is right, on the deck the meal was $8 this year in lieu of the $5 in years past. However wander out into the stadium and Metzlers could be had for $5 there. Kind of annoying that they are sticking the donors with the high price tag. That being said the guys at Metzlers let me load up for $8 and 3 of us ate on the plate.
