  1. Dacat, thanks for not naming someone who sponsors the site. I can tell you that they do whatever they can to get the games. Honestly I used to be as flustered as you as to why the local scene does not support the programs. However one large part of the reason the Pourhouse cant and wont get a package has to do with the costs associated for it. When a game in on a certain package its not $99 to get it like it is for a home viewer. Its based on capacity, TV's etc. So the size of the Pourhouse dictates the cost of the event. Also canceling Fios or Comcast to get Direct TV etc for a semi-final game isn't going to happen. All these places are in business first and fans second. Ideally in the Pourhouse's case they are doing the best they can to make those 2 align
  2. i love that too, however the fact that its hanging or not is not the be all end all of supporting the program. Also many times these items are held hostage in a way by the Ath Dept regarding donations and levels etc. Just saying
  3. Bump Thanks to Kram for handling the $ collection and handing out T-Shirt. Please welcome Stebo as the captain of the Green Team! Still in need of a captain and a ref.
  4. Thanks for getting back to us and glad to hear you are on your way home. We'll add you to the draft. Also PM with who you might reccomend. Maybe we can twist their arm since its for charity
  5. I'll lead.... Green Nightmare 6'3 180. A WR and safety. Positives: Only 28 and still in decent shape. Big Hands ability to win jump balls. Negatives: I haven't played organized sports in 2-3 years. Also never been injured playing tackle football however, I broke both thumbs playing touch on 2 separate occasions Literally the ultimate lurker on here. Been religiously reading on here since '01. I know who many of you are but you don't know me Prediction: Early Rounds unless the unknown quantity effect creeps in, then I'm a late round steal Shirt Size L
  6. Ditto Apologies to FFR and and MeanGreenFreak
  7. love it. that joke never gets old for me actually if we just could find a way to combine that with Nostradamus, nothing could be funnier
  8. I know. Sometime the logistics get lost in the shuffle, the cost for the Pourhouse vs a chain. But I see your point on the reasons. No they wouldn't pull it over that
  9. Let's not turn this into an indictment of the Pourhouse for protecting a brand. They made a commitment to the site, the 1st business to do so. Advertising dollars are few and far between in the economy and especially for a start up. I think Harry and Co are just trying to give the people that help fund this place the best chance.
  10. Negative the Mean Green would definitely get priority. Look no further than when we held down the room for NT-WKU football delaying the start of UT-TTU. They are committed to the Program and the site
  11. I am pretty sure Nick would not want it that way. I'll look into it and thanks for the support
  12. I really hope that not the case
  13. Not at all. I hope it didn't read like that. I haven't approached them regarding any donation of items. It was a process just to find one open weekend so I didn't want to bog them down just yet for a donation. Also if anyone has more of a connection to the department go ahead and approach them. This is a group effort. Regarding Volunteer help, I need 2 captains, someone to track down TX Stranger to ref or a ref if we can't. Also if someone wants to manage the shirt handing out and money collection day of the game, that would be welcome. I am trying to see if we can get someone to donate some food/drink for the post game, any one knows someone let me know. I put a donate button in my signature if people want to do it by Paypal. I'll figure out a way to post how much we've raised
  14. The 11th sorry for the confusing typo
  15. Yeah. That was literally the only day available at least until the 2nd weekend in May. Sorry
  16. Most of the major items are in place for the game to move forward. Still some outstanding issues but they shouldn't pose a threat to the game. In regards to the TBD. Please feel free to volunteer. I approached the prior captains and the timing is just not right for them this year. I'm looking at you 92. I've heard the legend of your play making ability but can it translate to the coaches box. Are you the next Bill Russell? The majority of the post is borrowed from the posts Medpilot made in the past. Trying to balance the cost so that the max amount can get donated. I am working with the Mavs, the Stars and some Ex NT players to get something donated to give away in the past. I've pretty much annoyed the heck out of the NT Ath Dept, so if someone wants to approach them for a school related item go right ahead. Winning team trophy and MVP award right after game. Pictures taken after awards will be posted on the GMG board. Draft Rules (Draft begins with the white-team selecting first. As in Chess, the white moves first. I do this every year...captains usually rotate, so should be fair) 1. The selections will be a normal draft, meaning each captain takes the player of their own choice. The draft will continue until there are no draft-eligible players remaining on the roster. All eligible players will be selected. 2. All players taking the field on gameday must have been drafted during the live draft. Late roster additions may be allowed, but must be approved by BOTH captains, then myself. 3. Women will be drafted first, as usual... then the guys. 4. The captains may discuss player trades at the end of the draft. Trades are allowed as long as the teams are kept relatively equal. I retain the right to reject a trade if it appears to make the teams un-even. (Has never happened in five years?) Prior years trades were all fair and all went but one. Game rules Most rules (such as blocking) will be discussed at the coin-toss by Texas Stranger and the captains. As most of us have played this game many times, we all have a pretty good idea of what we can and cannot do. Here are some basics for the game: 1. All questions about the actual game-play should be discussed with your captain so he may discuss it with the Ref. Reminder - all calls and decisions made by the ref on the field are final. No questions or complaints about a call may be made directly to the official. 2. Only team captains may call the ref over for clarification of a call made on the field. The officials word is final. 3. A female player must play QB at least one series in each half. Females must be on the field at the same time. In cases of an odd number of female players, the captains will rotate accordingly to ensure everyone gets playing time. 4. The flag belts must be worn by all players at all times on the field. Should a player lose the belt while running, they remain eligible receivers but are considered "down" at the point of the catch. RINGERS 1. Former players are certainly welcome in this game as they are also alums, and to us they are special. However, the presence of a Division-I scholarship athlete on one team can substantially affect the outcome of the game. To ensure fairness, I am enacting the "Good Sheppard-Clause". A former scholarship athlete may certainly play, but the other team must also have a ringer on the field to balance the talent level. Both ringers must be on the field at the same time, but they do not have to line up against one another. If one team has a ringer and the other team does not?, the Ringer may still play, but the team with the ringer will drop one player from the field and play a man short for that time. Anyone who played in the first GMG game, or played last year understands why this is a necessary rule. We love having our star athletes out there having fun with us, but being "poster-ized" by them over and over gets a little frustrating. This rule is for the sole purpose of fairness and team balance. Get your BIOS in with the shirt sizes by the date listed. Thanks again to Harry for providing the site where we can all gather. ps Please pin
  17. Thats the direction I'm headed. Green and White shirts with Black writing Anyone know how to get in touch with LadyGreen. I emailed her. i wanted her to get first crack at the graphics, if not I am going to get Smitty to do them. 95% chance its on 4/11 just waiting on confirmation from Hank and Brian. Should have the bio thread etc up today or late tonight
  18. Part of the master plan for NT and TXDot calls for the demolition of that whole eyesore. Sack and Save on down to the Taco C.
  19. Thanks for the heads up At least try and play, who will talk smack?
  20. Its the screen print that will drive the cost. just wondering if we need 2 color shirts. Regardless I will be coming in under $9 a tee it looks like 'll get yours in burnt orange, just beware that people wearing that color during the game are eligible to be tackled
  21. Update. I will have an answer on the date by Friday the latest. They are tied up with the home game on Wednesday for BBall Also can anyone who has played previously help me with a Tshirt Question. What was the setup. Were they all 1 color or 1 color for each team. Did we have numbers on the back? Right now I am doing 20 white and 20 green with a singular logo in black. In the interests of $. Thoughts?
  22. Ok spoke to Hank this morning. They have an operations meeting today. Should hopefully have an answer today. I threw out the 25th in addition to the 11th in case Easter weekend was bad for them or too many of us.
  23. ugh didnt think about that.
  24. The 4th is the Spring game.
  25. Ok I'm trying to string this together if everyone is still interested I'm going to speak with the T-shirt people on Monday about doing a "recession style" shirt for the game. Just numbers and GMG on the front? Any ideas or slick non-tricked out logos? I put a call into John Burkett and one other contact at the AD's office regarding the field and help with the event. Targeting 4/11 for the game. How many shirts would we need/want. What would we be willing to pay?
