  1. Thanks, gents, for the good wishes, and thanks also to those who e-mailed me direct. But my questions are: - how did anyone know of my birthday? - and where are my presents?
  2. okay. So we shouldn't talk about the guys UNT signed, for the same reason?
  3. Signed a 6-10 260 lb guy. This will give them one 6-10, one 6-11 and one 7-0. As said by CBL, conference teams are getting bigger.
  4. Well said. Magley was effective in the NCAA games. UALR beat us out in the West Div last season, returns most of its players, and will be bigger. Monroe was all-conf and will have help. MTSU and USA have a lot of effective and experienced size. We have a lot of questions going into next season.
  5. UALR has a 6-9 258 guy. FAUs Monroe (all-conf) is 6-9 245. FIU has 7-0 250 and 6-9 235 (all conf), plus 6-11 skinny guy. ULL signed a 6-9 260 type and a 6-10 thinner guy in Nov. MTSU has a 6-10 250 as well as 6-8 guys. WKU has a 6-9 260 and 3 other 6-8 or 6-9 guys. Troy has a 7-footer. The Belt has some bigs, including some that made all-conf last season, over our two guys.
  6. Those guys are weird. Looks like a good hire.
  7. How is this a gold mine if every home team lost money? Maybe some charged more than $10.
  8. I am part of a group of six.
  9. Good analysis; see you in Mobile, I am going Saturday.
  10. But Jones doesn't wear green.
  11. I might have had Banks in there instead of Wedel and surely someone should give Steve Shields some recognition - picked 6th, finished 1st.
  12. Without going thru the entire bracket, it looks like the UNT women will host Denver or UNO in the first round Wednesday. Then, if we win, we get WKU on Saturday. Ouch.
  13. I fear that first round matchup. There is a history of bad blood between the two squads and because of that ArkSt will be even more determined to revenge their loss to UNT in last year's conference finals. As you say, beating the same team 3 times is tough enough without the added factors. They were a tough out two weeks ago with what was then a new HC and could be tougher in a play-in game. Should be fun, though.
  14. From the Sun Belt message board. "(1) USA BYE (8) UNO (9) DENVER ------------ (4) MTSU (13) LA-MON (5) LA-LAF (12) TROY ----------------------------------------------------- (3) WKU BYE (6) NT (11) ASU ------------- (2) UALR BYE (7) FAU (10) FIU Tiebreakers: (1) USA swept WKU; (2) UALR swept LA-LAF; (4) MT beat LA-LAF; (8) FAU beat UNO; (12) TROY beat LA-MON" I didn't see anything wrong; correct me if you find something.
  15. " WHEREAS the University of North Texas currently funds all athletic programs through private donations and minimal student fees; and " This is not a true statement. The information reported by UNT to the NCAA database shows student fees going to athletics in the amount of $4.3 million, an amount which is more than 10 times the amount of ticket sales and more than the total of ticket sales and donations. Source is: http://www2.indystar.com/NCAA_financial_re...venue_stat/show Keep in mind the amounts in this data base are as reported by the member institutions. The numbers came from UNT.
  16. Somebody has to beat UALR for us to have a shot at the top spot in the West Div. Looks like ULL Sat is the only chance.
  17. CMJ is right: 15 seed.
  18. We were a 14 seed. Which is bad enough. An 11 or 12 gives you a fighting chance, many 11s and 12s win in the first round.
  19. The weekly feature is up on the conference website. If the season ended today, UNT men would host FAU in the first round of the conf tournament and the UNT women would host Denver. If the UNT teams were to win the first round games, the men would play WKU and the women would play ArkSt in the 2nd round which would be in Mobile.
  20. You got my curiousity up so I did a little looking. In the last 10 yrs SEC teams have won 3 NCAA tournaments and had two other teams in the Final Four. The PAC10 has not won an NCAA tournament and has had two teams total in the Final Four. Make it 12 years and the results are SEC 4, PAC10 1 NCAA tournament champs. I couldn't find a source for the overall records of W/L in the NCAA tournament by conference.
  21. The PAC 10 is very strong this season. Things change from season to season. The SEC has been very successful for many years, has had three teams in the final four in recent years and will be very successful again. By the way, the ArizSt/LSU went into OT before ASU won at a neutral site. If ASU is one of the PAC-10s best and LSU one of the SECs worse, that doesn't speak much of the PAC-10. Hard to say what you are basing your opinions on, polls are nonsense and Sagarin is nonsense and I doubt you have been courtside to see all these teams. What is not nonsense is success on the court. The SEC has a very distinguised record in the NCAA tournament, and will again.
  22. The PAC-10 is far superior to SEC in hoops? Then how did an SEC team just win two consecutive national championships? PAC-10 is definitely powerful but don't discount the SEC.
  23. Can the same type data be pulled together for the JCs we signed?
  24. Oops. My bad.
