  1. Comparisons to Dickey's classes are irrelevant. Rivals had us 3rd in the conf in 2008, tied for 7th in 2007. Not 1st or 2nd.
  2. 6-10 Theryn Hudson has not been playing; has played in only 3 games, total 40 minutes. Wonder why? Injury?
  3. They are a member of the Great West conference, but apparently will not begin conference play this year and are playing as an independent. In fact the Great West Conference may not have yet begun play as a conference, the web sites are not clear and I haven't found any conference standings. Plus, the conference standings on ESPN.go.com show all the conference members as independents. Heckuva conference, including a school in New Jersey another in Utah a couple in Texas and more. Whatever, their record is 0-9.
  4. It should.
  5. We still need DTs.
  6. A few bowl-eligible teams got there by beating 1AA teams, I didn't count how many. We don't play 1AA teams, we prefer to play teams that are undefeated in the SEC and MAC, teams with young squads. Helps a lot.
  7. Bought season tickets since 1971. Contributor since about 1980. You can find my name in the football program. Facilities donor. You can find that in the program, too. Life member alumni association. Past member of board of alumni association. Past member of several university committees including accounting dept alum board. Member of fund raising committee for athletic center. So Scott: is it ok if I express my opinion? And, pray tell, since I told you what I do, what are you doing to help?
  8. In fact, according to Rivals, five of our seven commits had no other D1A offers.
  9. Actually SMU has 5.
  10. Today's (Sunday 7th) has the recruiting lists: area, state and national top 100s. You had asked me to let you know when they were published.

If you have been reading the lists on-line, no surprises.

  11. First call: we got called for not getting the ball over in 10 seconds. The call was correct, we didn't. JJ was not arguing about that, he was arguing that he called time out before the ten seconds was up and therefore SHSU should not get the ball. JJ was right in that he was trying to call timeout (our seats are right behind the UNT bench), but apparently no one heard him. I don't recognize the other two calls you described. But on balance, 40 minutes, we got our share of good calls.
  12. Just curious - what makes you think they haven't undertaken a real, ns effort to get the $30 mil? And do you think we have no commitments for funds thus far? (I don't know, either.) People should understand that no one in the ath dept or admin will alert us when they have an interview with someone with big bucks. The theory has been that first you have a "quiet phase" during which time you talk to big bucks guys. The quiet phase ends when a target dollar amount has been pledged. This letter could be read as being the end of the quiet phase; or not. Who knows. But this letter is certainly not a negative, though one could certainly choose to take it as such.
  13. McCoy was no more useful guarding three's than Dominique or Josh.
  14. It would help if he would guard somebody. Now maybe he has done better in these last two road games, I don't know, but he dang sure didn't vs OklaSt, the road game I DID go to, and he didn't last season.
  15. As mentined elsewhere, the BOR was to approve the student fee, not a stadium. Approval of the student fee by the BOR is a necessary step prior to submitting it to the State coordinating board or legislature, , for their approval. As to your other questions, do you actually think we know something? That we have received communications and status updates? You must be new here. As to the alleged plans for the stadium, my guess is we will see them when they are finished, which is likely months away but that is just a guess. Ditto timeline.
  16. You should say TxTech's version of the spread crumbles in a key game. Oklahoma's version seems to be doing just fine.
  17. Ball State and USC do not use the spread as their basic offenses. They seem to be having some success.
  18. Right, my bad, but he had 7 fouls in 31 minutes. Defensive fouls were a problem for him last season, it is not good that he hasn't shown improvement in that area vs DII teams. He needs to improve if he is to be on the court very many minutes this season.
  19. Howerton has committed 11 fouls in 31 mins vs DII competition. He has to do much better than that if he is to make much of a contribution this year.
  20. It was not an either/or situation, as some like to say. It was not a choice between DD or TD. It was time for DD to go (reason #4 and others not on your list) but we had plenty of other options, good options.
  21. Boise frequently plays FCS teams, as does Hawaii. Hasn't kept them out of the BCS bowl. Marshall, in their heyday, scheduled one or two every year. I am all for opening the season every year against an FCS team. Get the weakest one you can, if you want to. We will have to do something if we intend to abide by the conference rule for having six home games a year, if we continue to have an away money game.
  22. In addition to a national championship, he also had 14 winning seasons in the last 15, won 10 games in 2007 and 9 games in 2006. Tennessee appeared in the SEC title game in 2007, having won their division, the seventh time Fulmer had them in the title game. This is more about "what have you done for me lately" than poor performance. "Lately" being this month. Don't misunderstand, I am not a Tennessee fan, my wife went to LSU and we follow LSU. Fulmer being forced out tells a lot about the competitive pressures in the SEC.
