  1. I was waiting for you to post that an earthquake will destroy Fouts, but this is even better! UNT Playmaker: Official "The world is coming to and end" Eagle!
  2. I have a huge room all to myself, and the Ark/Tulsa game has finally ended. Come on down!
  3. I 'm at SRO (Houston). If I had stayed at home and paid $21, I'd be really pissed.
  4. Unfortunately, the BB game at UH is the same day as the last FB home game vs ArkSt (great scheduling ). I expect to be at Fouts, but I'm sure that we can get something together for those going to the BB game.
  5. I just got off the phone with the manager of SRO. She will be able to put the game on a big screen for us. Just in case someone hasn't been there before: SRO NW Mall map & directions One more time - who's coming?
  6. It's at 3:30 according to the schedule on meangreensports.com.
  7. If the game is on GamePlan, then we should be able to find a place to watch. SRO NW Mall is the most likely location, but if you know of a better place - and know someone at that place who will guarantee to have the game on - chime in. Who's in?
  8. Yeah - how about a giant Stewie helium balloon?
  9. Wow, he looks kinda like a Texan Dr. Demento! Not at all what I imagined...

  11. All he needs to do is wear a green tie, that's enough for me.
  12. I wonder if it has something to do with the NCAA Graduation Success Rate scores: meangreensports.com - NCAA Releases Graduation Success Rate Scores "On the men's side, only golf and track and field had a GSR score below their comparable federal graduation rate."
  13. What genius chose to name a mall in Denton "Golden Triangle"? That must have confused DeepGreen. Give me the "Downtown Mini Mall"!
  14. FFJ - maybe the Athletic Dept. will have merchandise for sale at the reception tonight or at the tailgate tomorrow? It's probably too late to call anyone... Lifer - I bought the last one of those long sleeve t-shirts at the Dave & Barry's at Katy Mills during the sales-tax-free weekend in August. It's dark green, and just says "NORTH TEXAS" in black letters, right? I asked to speak to the manager to tell him to get more NT merchandise, not knowing that Dave & Barry's is in bankruptcy. So... if they're in bankruptcy, and supposedly going to close, how did they open a new store??? KRAM1 - no, I think Lifer was either talking about either West Oaks or Katy Mills. But speaking of Gallerias, you know that Houston had theirs long before Dallas, don't you? A memorable moment: in 1980, when we played UH in the 'Dome (I just looked it up - in fact, it was Sep 27!), the Marching band was given several hours in the afternoon to check out the Galleria. A few dozen members went to the ice skating rink, and someone got the idea to line up in forrmation (no instruments, of course). As was the way we did things back then, the drum major yelled "BAND ATTEN!", and everyone stood at attention and answered: "N T S U Band!" We had a great time, and it turned quite a few heads!
  15. I don't think anyone else has posted this - it's the only article in the Chronicle I've seen so far this week: Owls primed for prey their size After defeats to Vandy and Texas, Rice set for UNT
  16. Apparently so: Dolphins cut rookie tailback Jalen Parmele "Parmele was buried on the depth chart behind Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, Patrick Cobbs.."
  17. The Stafford / Sugar Land area (SW Freeway (59) just outside of Beltway 8, just before US 90A) has a lot of hotels - Motel 6, Days Inn, Marriott Courtyard, Hampton Inn, Residence Inn, Homewood Suites, to name a few. It's only 1/2 hour away from Rice U.
  18. Even if you're going to do your own tailgating, take a few minutes to come on by the tailgating sponsored by the Mean Green Club, Division of Advancement, NT Exes, and the NT Letterman's association: Mean Green Tailgate Party And don't forget about the reception Friday night at the Westin Galleria!
  19. No, you're not crazy - you're hearing Groucho sing "I'm Against It" I don’t know what they have to say, It makes no difference anyway -- Whatever it is, I’m against it! No matter what it is or who commenced it, I’m against it. Your proposition may be good But let’s have one thing understood -- Whatever it is, I’m against it! And even when you’ve changed it or condensed it, I’m against it. Horsefeathers, 1932 - one of the great college football movies!
  20. Bummer for us in Houston - Nov. 29th is the last home FB game against ArkSt. If only those two dates could be switched!
  21. I'm visualizing Nordberg (OJ) at the end of "The Naked Gun". Trivia from IMDB: The marching band seen trampling Vincent Ludwig at the end of the movie is from USC, but the band you actually hear is the Rice University Marching Owl Band (the MOB). They are thanked in the credits. How appropriate for this week!
  22. Here's a press release from the main Rice site: Rice gets back to business "There was damage to the R Room at Rice Stadium, according to Athletics Director Chris Del Conte, but he said other athletic facilities came through the storm fine. "Rice Stadium has been standing since 1951, and it's not going anywhere," said Del Conte..." I'm guessing that "The R Room" is the equivalent of the Mean Green Club Deck at Fouts.
  23. In case someone didn't receive it, here's an e-mail sent out by the NT Alumni on Wednesday: On behalf of the alumni association at the University of North Texas our thoughts are with those who have recently experienced the devastation brought by Hurricane Ike. Due to unforeseen circumstances related to the hurricane, the alumni association will be canceling the wine and cheese reception before the musical performance by Gustavo Romero on September 26th. Currently, Rice University is still planning to hold the musical performance, however, please continue to monitor the Rice University website (http://events.rice.edu) for further details. The alumni association will still attend the scheduled events on Saturday, September 27th and we encourage everyone to join us at Rice Stadium to cheer on the Mean Green! If you have any questions regarding the alumni events in Houston on September 26-27, please contact the alumni association at alumni@unt.edu or 940-565-2834.
