  1. Or how about Beat X banners - we could hang them all week as good publicity for the upcoming tilt. We could even recycle our conference mates - hey that is GREEN, right? Create a Beat Indiana, Beat the Coogs...
  2. Can we paint them with words on the tower base or the fan blades? I have never seen those fly so fast that you can make out the words! GMG
  3. How about "Thats a Wrap" and get a burrito joint to sponsor it! GMG
  4. AT 6 and 6 could we go bowling - just by winning out! Go Mean Green
  5. He strikes me as a leader who loves a challenge and UNT sure is a challenge with huge upswing. You get a chance to bring your expertise and game to one of the richest recruiting grounds in the country. You get to share the headlines with June Jones and the #4 team in the country. You are in the home of the Dallas Cowboys and World Series bound Rangers. You get to open a brand spanking new palace, the newest in college football, get the Mean Green back into SBC contention and get us moved up to a bigger league or into one of the Big 6. It screams Awesome Opportunity! Do not underestimate how appealing this opportunity is. It is an opportunity to create a national program in a new nest, with a massive fanbase waiting to erupt. GOMEANGREEN!!!!!
  6. As painful as this was isn't it some ways 10,000 better than another close loss? This game left no doubt about where we are, where they are and reinforced the fact that this call needs to be made now. GMG
  7. just remember this moment MG fans. it is low but it is not forever. remember those empty stands and that empty feeling. No one in the Belt has emerged as the BYU of the Belt, so we don't have a monster climb with the right set of pieces in place: stadium - check awesome tailgating - check good ooc games in the next few years - check it is time to roll up the sleeves and get to work and get the Mean Green train back on the track! GMG
  8. i was all for giving dodge another year (this year),especially with the changes we saw on his staff. But Emmitt was right. I respect RV for taking the risk in the first place. So much good has happened in the past 4 years despite this horrific football experiment. I wish Todd and his family nothing but the best in the future. It is time to read the next chapter. I trust RV and we are going to make a splash. The SBC is ready for the Mean Green to come back. GMG
  9. I watched it on Gameplan and was about to fall asleep. Why is it that one team looks like a college football team and the other a high school squad? I like Cristobal - he has developed a team over his years there and Dodge and run ours into the ground. Really shocking. The first thing I want our new coach to do is get rid of that puke high school looking green we wear! I mean it will always remind me of these tragic years of Dodgeball and I don't want to remember much from this era. We look small. We look weak in toothpaste green. We look disinterested. It is time for a COMPLETELY new start! Use the stadium as a excuse to change every terrible thing about this program as it currently now sits. Go Alma Mater! I love the University of North Texas!
  10. i actually got a chuckle out of the post game interview and those infamous words "another close loss." yeah this is the worst I have ever seen our program. i like the fight but my gosh couldn't you roll out any coach right now and they would stand a better chance than this regime of willing a team to a victory. How do you never stop an opening drive touchdown. Where is the accountability! Love my University but this is a sad state of affairs. We deserve better. We continue to get beat by teams from Jonesboro, Monroe, Murpheesboro, Troy...I mean my goodness this is crazy. Expect better, beat down the company we keep in the SBC, make a national splash with a new head coach and move into the next chapter in Mean Green history with a strategy that never allows us to feel like this again. Erase this culture of losing by leaving it dead on Fouts Field tonight. The 4th largest university in the great state of Texas needs to start acting like it da*mn it! Every single administrator and fan needs to step it up and make a difference. We have a rich history that must highlight! We have a bright as the sun future that we must seize! Start protecting the seal, the name, the brand, the spirit that is North Texas! GMG
  11. That would be the smartest move the Big East could make but they have about 48 hours. Don't think TCU think about it too much. This gives the BE an inroad into the Texas market for recruiting. TCU gets the autobid. BE gets a top 5 program. TCU gets east coast press (ala Dallas Cowboys). BE gains immediate stature and TCU renews rivalries with Louisville and Cincy. Oh yeah and my main reason for wanting this move - UNT fights for that MWC spot! GMG
  12. thank you for this thread! I found a great internet radio station - bring on La kalle! GMG
  13. Well there were Beat New Mexico shirts at the UNLV game and that didn't stop the Rebel roll. Poor New Mexico looks terrrriiibleeee! There was ONE North Texas fan smiling big in that big ole clan of stunned (back row). Surprise nobody noticed her:) GMG
  14. Adler I could use some sunshine and daphodils on months like this - 0-5 including that tragedy in Arlington - I am seriously thinking of hiking instead of getting emotionally drowned next weekend. It is just the terrrible and disgusting! gmg
  15. Doesn't the Belt all of a sudden look winnable! I mean for someone. We may be a stretch but that stench coming from TN was MTSU losing to Memphis! Really? That is one of our premier teams and then that terrible UAB getting over on Troy! What! Arkie State might just be the class this year! GMG
  16. FFFRI AAARS FRI ARS Friars Friars Friars #1! Alumni moment:) GMG
  17. Something said during the game today alarmed me. The announcer said that Dodge does not blame the players or something to that state but rather holds the coaches responsible to perform. It was something like that and there in lies a huge problem for me. I don't think the players feel the urgency to perform they maybe should. I might look at this as a free pass to be coddled. I am not unloading on the players but I do think there needs to be serious consequences such as lack of playing time, benchings, loss of position. I mean execution requirements run through the ranks, right? I want performance expectations from the athletic department employees through all of our coaching staffs in all sports. GMG
  18. Idaho 1-11 year 1 2-10 year 2 8 - 5 year 3 Like Dodge but we deserve wins. GMG
  19. usually i will agree about the alignment stuff, but i sat near the band and they had juice ALL NIGHT LONG! They were crazy in the stands and observant of the game. They actually enjoy and consider themselves part of the experience. Props to the GB. Thank you for the work you do before and in the stands!!! GMG
  20. Though first year coaches are always realistic and can only churn out a couple of wins, don't think this said first year coach might actually out win the coach with 4 years under his belt? I've seen more teams luck into more wins than we manage to choke away. It would be hard for a first year coach to disappoint more than what these past few years have been like. GMG
  21. Didn't you just feel that yesterday? The pressure of that entire afternoon might have been disguised as oppressive heat but there was soooooooo much underlying pressure for the Mean Green to win that game and at the end they revealed exactly who they are. The guys work hard play hard the coaches yell loud and develop the fans show up to support and underneath it all is a big judge and jury waiting for the 000. UNT had to win this game for: 1. Coach Dodge's future 2. Fanbase support for the rest of 2010 3. CUSA readiness and worthiness 4. RV's decision to hire and bring back TD 5. A fan lowpoint called 77 - 20 around 700 days ago 6. Beautiful pillars and cranes across the stree that must have looked like daggers all game long It was unbelievable how much pressure there was for so many on 9.11.10. Livelihood and lifelong memories were on the line last night and that is why the end of that game was like driving away from a day of revelation. We supported and witnessed what was the Dodge Era yesterday. We supported this University like never before and will always wish this cast the best. Last year Ohio mentally ended the 2009 season in the players minds. Rice was not another MAC team rolling into Denton to play a part in this judgement day saga. There was so much more intensity added to the day because it was Rice, and they may have killed the mentality of the 2010 squad. Either way I will be there watching us fight whatever fight we bring to Westpoint and I will always bleed green. Thank goodness 9.11.10 is over. It was mentally, physically and emotionally exhausting. GMG
  22. RV is a risk taker. He took a monster risk taking this job many years ago! He took a huge risk keeping Dickey after that Monroe game and off to 4 straight bowl games we went. He took a huge risk hiring Todd Dodge and one that I frankly was glad he took before the results. RV is a master at his game in many ways and there is a method to his maddness. Think about the coached we will be able to intrigue with the stadium underway and a brighter future on the horizon. We are 5-33 under TD and yet we outdrew SMU and their high dollar coach by 7,000 fans last night. Both opening nights in the Metroplex. One fresh off a bowl win and the other grasping to hope strings in a jello bowl. His next risk is to go get Mike Leach. Both of those crazy minds at work could do miracles on the college football scene. RV the risk taker with political correctness and ML the risk taker who wins. That would bring in national attention to Denton, Texas and with a commitment of this magnitude could land us an invite to the Big East, MWC or Big 12. Crazy things happen both wonderful and weird when risk takers are in charge! GMG
  23. oh my gosh is that dumpsalot! on the day when you get a free pass to be doom and gloom I am looking do DD for inspiration and motivation! It really is a new day in Mean Green land. DD kidding and thank you for caring for this program as deeply as you do! GMG
  24. I am confident that we will be a purpose driven program with results. I love many things Coach Dodge has done to help progress our program forward. I only wish it would have been with results because that is the only thing missing from really wanting me to have Dodge here for a long time. It is simply time to go get another character guy who can continue moving our program forward AND get results. This is barring a Dickey type miracle turnaround the remainder of this season. GMG
  25. This is simply a culture of losing. I don't think this team thinks it can win. You cannot continue to lose these close games unless mentally a team simply not know or believe they can shut the door. That lies at the feet of Coach Dodge. To be up and not be able to close in the 4th quarter over and over again is ludicrous. This may be the only game a get a chance to see this year in person. I feel like I will see somebody walking our sidelines when opening across the street. Great game! Amazing heat! Fun times! Hope for the Mean Green, my team forever! GMG
