If we win on Saturday we are going bowling:) If we don't win on Saturday we are still going bowling:) I see a 4-0 or 3-1 record in October! GMG

I thought the energy was great. I think our endzone needs to become like GA Techs with students hanging over the side banging on the wall making all kinds of noise. that endzone magnifies the sound and a few deep rows of crazy pit crew style greens could make it crazy loud and force those time outs consistently. i don't think we significant drop off in attendance the rest of the year. I know the people there for the first time yesterday are going back because of the experience. great job for the 21 plus there. Lets get 22 or 23 for FAU. Meanwhile lets beat tulsa and come back shooting for 500. GMG

I was at On the Border in Garland today and a hardcore Mean Green table was sitting at the table next to me. They saw my MG gear and their joiner friends were wearing theirs. They were at the Houston game and will be there manana. At my high school homecoming party tonigth several people giving me the claw as I mozied around the alumni party. I bet we have a solid crowd today and our team can sniff the W. Mean Green coming today! GMG

OK so Mountain West AD's Meet in Dallas Next Week
NM Green replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
In the Mountain West we would enter in toward the bottom, but I believe we could beat New Mexico today and possibly Wyoming and CSU. Hawaii looked flat last week against an improving UNLV (they have the right coach and finally are about to take off.) I believe we would end up here: Boise State Air Force San Diego State Nevada Hawaii UNLV Fresno State Colorado State North Texas Wyoming New Mexico The next logical jump would be to compete with UNLV Fresno State and CSU. The premier group of BSU, AF, SDSU, Reno and Hawaii would be a couple of years away. GMG -
OK so Mountain West AD's Meet in Dallas Next Week
NM Green replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Harry, Can you sneak into the meeting with Rick:) Contrary to what many think, I believe the UNT stock is like gold right now. You want a program in the following: Recruiting hotbed Fantastic TV market Easy travel destination East and West Large alumni base Commitment to athletics Strong basketball program Proven coaching staffs Brand new stadium and athletic facilities SMU and TCU to a degree do not see us as valuable and one has to wonder why. We have all the ingredients to jump into the expansion mix and I am glad many UNT leaders and conference commishes see the commitment and potential. We are a STEAL right now, and if I were the MWC I would invite us while we are still available. The new world is about numbers and quality. We have 2 of the 3 covered in football and all three covered in the strongest secondary sport. GMG -
Steps that should be taken behind the scenes
NM Green replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Football
I was listening to the Ticket online today and they said Dallas Baptist was invited to the WAC along with Cal State something. It was on the ticket ticker. Texas State UTSA Dallas Baptist Cal State UTA I respect some of those programs above but if you believe that the new WAC is anywhere near the SBC you are smoking something! GMG -
Steps that should be taken behind the scenes
NM Green replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Football
With Dallas Baptist University and Cal State something getting invitations to the WAC today, how on earth is La Tech and NMSU not jumping to an improving Belt? We may be headed to a modified WAC during this realignment mess, but I say let's go get a couple of stable programs to stabilize the Belt. If FIU, Troy or MTSU get poached we can curtail the bleeding. Of course I hope we land in the MWC or new Big 12 but the WAC is moving and shaking in a strange way and the Belt is really quiet. GMG -
Attendance Projection for this weekend
NM Green replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
I think there will be some Big 10 backers that may not even have Indiana ties. Being out of town I have a soft spot for my Texas brethen that come through, minus pony fan. I thinks 24,000. Also if Frog or Pony fan is playing away I bet some of those fans make their way up this season and we have a good opponent in house. Another Green and Red stadium full this weekend! gmg -
I really do not understand the big deal with selling beer in the stadium. Why are fooling ourselves into believing that college football is not big business - look at what is happening with our beloved college football. Plus I have frequented Aloha Stadium and Sam Boyd and they both sell alcohol until the end of the 3rd quarter. They load up on security for guests that get out of hand and advertise numbers you can text for out of control guests on the jumbotron. The only games they have a problems with are Hawaii and Nevada Reno. I really don't see a game on our schedule that would get out of control. Further guests would view this as a semi-pro experience which it is and we build the fanbase. Time to realize what college football which we are a part of really is and more importantly where it is heading. GMG

Funny how all of this links together. I believe UCF beat BC, then Duke beat BC (by pure luck in many ways). If FIU spanks Duke they look even better. Go FIU! Go Mean Green!!!!!

One establishment here in Vegas proudly advertises $10 lap dances during NFL games. So if beer will grow the alumni association, I am just saying... Great idea Adler. After the Labor Day run at White Rock they had a fenced area for beverages for 21 and up. It would absolutely draw some people to that area during the break. We have to make people want to be part of the Green by all means possible. GMG

Why the Metroplex will soon be GREEN
NM Green replied to ParksAndRecRick's topic in Mean Green Football
When you look to the future I would paint the new Metroplex landscape Mean Green because I am a forward looking person. However, it will take a lot of moving parts geling together nicely - Coach Mac, Recruiting, Alums, Athletic Department, Orientation speeches...It is not the job of one person but rather a village of energy and hard work to get this Green Machine off the ground. Buildings alone do not do it. So grab your friends and then grab another. Do your part and slowly we will take our natural place. SMU will never be greatly supported by Dallas due to their attitude. I see June Jones back in Hawaii in due time. TCU has been on top for so long that their natural slide has already begun. Work hard and work harder Mean Green Nation and we will succeed. I watched Indiana and SC State on TV last night and then Tulsa and Okie State. Both of those teams are going to be a battle to stay with and we really need to win at least 1. Come out and strong Mean Green! I will say that I find it awesome walking into Sam Boyd last night and sitting in a Mountain West stadium that can't touch our new home. The realization that we have a more beautiful stadium than most of the MWC and CUSA programs is fantastic indeed - get the people out! I want that same energy we had last week and we won't have 4k Indiana fans to pump it up like we did with H-town. So I am on the fan recruiting trail now. Lets Go Mean Green!!!!! -
Monroe is slicing up the TCU defense. After losing Dalton I thought they were going to struggle on offense. ULM averaging 7 yards a play. ULM 10 Frogs 7 Go Warhawks!
-
Nevada has good football but UNLV rules the hoops in this state - plus you get destination city. GMG
-
Blue moon fat orange slice (sweet start). Then salted lime Tecate as a finisher (salt in the wound). Something light out at Sam Boyd rooting for the Bows. GMG

Okay at the risk of bringing up a uniform comment I must. At least I can watch Maryland today. There alternate uni a 1000% improvement. West Virginia is going to give the Frogs all they want in the BE if there is a Big East in the coming years. GMG
-
The Sun Belt gets respect tonight - FIU over UCF - ESPN loves the black knights so bring it Golden Panthers! ULM - TCU doesn't even know who you are - go into frogland and play your hearts out. Arkie State - go stun whatever a Hokie is. Let's go Troy! UNT - stay healthy and cover baby cover! GMG

So I am in the Fremont Experience watching this great 80's band called the Whip Its on stage - zip liners flying above, creatures and characters taking photographs etc etc etc. This guys comes up to me after noticing my Mean Green shirt and says, "Dude are you all going to cover tomorrow? They are giving you 47 points. I was reluctant to go with my heart because I too have heard about betting and your own team...He was like, "You really think Alabama is going to beat you all by 47 points? I hated that I couldn't feel confident at 46 or even 43. He left dejected because he wants those 47 bad. After he left I thought - no way we get beat by 47. As I told him, it will be a mercy victory for the Tide. They will win by 40. Going to the Hawaii game at UNLV tomorrow - they will again have 15 - 20 thousand draped in green tea leaves and war paint going strong. Oh how I would love to go to Sam Boyd to watch the Mean Green play a conference game. Go Mean Green!!!!!

Passing through albuquerque last night the talk show hosts were saying that this would be good for UNM so they could gain an identity playing lower competition. The fanline was blowing up though. They were not happy about it. Crazy how everybody all of sudden wants to go to where we have been banished to for my entire UNT fandom career. Programs want to break rivalries, we want rivalries. Schools want to fly all over the country, we want a regional league. Programs want to lessen the competition to gain respect, we want to get better fast to make the super conference cut. If we do go 1AA again which is essentially what the new league would be I hope we are the Montana or Grand Valley State, or Boise or Georgia Southern or Appalachian State. College football is becoming very seedy and boring, like the NFL IMHO. Big 12 stays together I bet because Texas wants to be a big dog and it is either where they are or in the ACC. GMG If it breaks lets get a strong midwestern league: Houston Iowa State Baylor North Texas SMU UTEP Tulsa Rice Middle Tennessee Southern Miss Troy Memphis GMG

I see this as a strong possibility: FIU - Sun Belt Champions Houston - CUSA Champions Alabama - SEC Champions What a way to open a season. I think we unleash the experience and fire on Indiana and get our first W of the season. Be There! GMG
-
Can we get the concessions to take credit cards? I feel a cash only situation is really outdated. Not to mention the ATM machine was packed. I missed half the 3rd quarter waiting in two lines - that is why we lost! Sorry if this was already posted, but at UNLV games I just swipe drink and eat. GMG
-
Baylor is grasping at straws. Who on earth in Mean Green gear could have sympathy for a team and fans who have to travel all over the place to see their sons and daughters play. Cry me a river already. Welcome to life in the Sun Belt, Big West, WAC and Mountain West. Oh wait, you are about to be welcomed to the Mountain West. Enjoy Reno, Boise and Laramie. Go Mean Green!!!!! P.S. - Let's climb the Mountain (West) first.
-
I laugh about this de javu thread too. But how crazy was it that Houston didn't bring their band, cheerleaders and mascot. I guess they thought they were playing North of Texas. With that said that ladies and gentlemen is why I hope we can somehow land in a conference with some Texas teams. How great would it be to have 3k - 4k visiting fans each and every game sprinkled throughout the palace. Now I won't say no to the Mountain West, but if we can start playing more Texas foes in the future I think we will all benefit from the great exposure. Yes that includes the Bobcats and the Roadkills from down south. GMG

I just loved the enthusiasm of the students and fans in that stadium. The experience at Apogee made the experience at Fouts over the past 25 years feel like a glorified high school experience. It is wonderful to walk into our new home and feel a semi-pro state of the art environment. It still had a college atmosphere with pro amenities. It was just awesome and I cannot wait to return! GMG

no apologies brotha! The day is upon us. No apologies for the upset of H-town either! Go Mean Green!!!!!
