Looking to discuss, or debate: the future of CFB.
NM Green replied to untcampbell's topic in Mean Green Football
The 20 programs need to break away and do their thing. They play each other home and away it’s a 40 game season that spans 6 months before playoffs and ultimate championship. There is one conference. The other 110 programs will play for bowl berths. Players will still develop and make their way to the holy grail NFL If the top league wants relegation they can offer up their 3 lowest performing each year. The 110 offer up their top 3 every year. It’s a constant swap out that keeps it interesting. Yes an LSU can get relegated and a Boise or Utah could take their place. This way you keep football 🏈 at all levels interesting and boys get their shots to prove themselves NFL CFL ready. GMG -
That Tech game is going to be a dry heat scorched. Bring your sunblock. Lots of time to get juiced up before entering the Alamodome. GMG

Jared Mosely upset and rightfully so
NM Green replied to Ross Hodgeson's topic in Mean Green Football
I’m just waiting to watch some ball, I hope it is against like institutions. Saturday afternoons hearing the roar of the Green. I’ll catch some SEC Big games but on my schedule and convenience. I’m not seeking it out over a weekend with the Mean Green Tribe in Denton Texas on a warm, cool, windy, rainy, Saturday afternoon. I may be unique but I followed this team to Monroe. Troy, southern miss, El Paso, Colorado Springs, Tempe, boca, Murpheesboro, bowling green and las cruces. Some of the best trips of my fandom. It’s going to be green forever no matter the landscape. I’m out at the Big 12 Baseball Tournament this week and we are all in the same boat. Kansas State, TCU, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech are all going to run into the same issues we are. They have good but not huge fanbases. Their top talent will be poached by the two leagues. They will have connectivity issues between players and fans like we will. They will have trouble getting their fans to dump money into the black hole that is players salaries. We actually have a heck of a recruiting edge over many places and we need to use that leverage immediately: 1. Smoking business climate. 2. Top sports market in the country. 3. Countless cultural experiences. 4. Robust shopping nightlife scene. 5. Mild winters. 6. No state income tax. When this movement takes on a full throttle professional business model, UNT will be poised to compete and lure talent equal to those not in the SEC and Big. We will need to professional horses in the Athletic Department. But I like our potential. Live work and showcase in DTX, Stillwater, Albuquerque, Boston, Corvallis, Ames or Boca Raton. You can see how this could possibly play out. Yes, go in sell and fight. GMG

Wow a sobering statement indeed. This has to be having an energy effect on most programs. Will college football actually become less popular? I mean the power programs say no way, never. I am not so sure about this. It won’t go as niche as golf. But investment works 2 ways. GMG

The way for this to work is for the super league to get to 20 teams. Then a follow up division with the other 110 programs or possibly there is 3 tiers. Super league 20 teams they all play each other. Yes a 19 game longer season. 50 teams league 2 60 teams league 3 You play with in your league but at the end of season 5 teams switch up down. Bowls trophies and rivalries somewhat preserved. Yes 4 super league teams drop down each time with risers taking their schedule. GMG

Good post about the teams. My only change would be Michigan State up and South Carolina up, Iowa down and perhaps Ole Miss down. GMG

Business, great business is about relationship. The big school fans have relationships with their patches. That nostalgia that comes over them when an I gets dotted or a Tiger roars at night or when you hear Rockytop on the march into the stadium. The majority of fan bases have relationships with players. I’m talking MWC AAC ACC Big 12 and half of the big 10 and sec. When you kill the relationship building process you squash the long term product success. That is why you will eventually see multi year contracts to preserve the sport. Everyone keeps saying college football is healthy better than ever rich and limitless. I disagree. It’s healthy for the big boys right now. But for the mass and I’m talking about 105 programs, you see the cracks. It will fall apart and those 25 - 30 programs will succeed - everyone else will adjust. You will have some very rich and everyone else having fun again too. It’s just the messy stage. It’s going to get uglier before it all settles into a new place. Never give up give in and remember relationships will set this free. Relationships between schools natural rivals players fan bases and trophies. Lots of trophy opportunities. GMG

When I took super casual fans to watch us play him they said, “ that dude spends a lot of time on the ground.” I chuckled out loud. GMG

WINNER AND LOSER: NEW MEXICO LOBOS
NM Green replied to Tom McKrackin's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I watched some New Mexico last year and was curious about how such a storied program with amazing fan support would fare. Looks like even the stronger programs struggle in this new culture, so we are not alone. I feel Ross is built for this new way to build and play. interesting read. GMG -
Judge orders Florida State, ACC to mediation to settle suit

Ain’t nobody leaving the Big 12 for a bizarrely configured ACC. You’ll get American squads but not Big 12 peeps. GMG -
Will we see changes coming from inside UNT?
NM Green replied to meangreenfaninno's topic in Mean Green Football
So much dread in this thread. immediately we must move to a pro business model. Is our current leadership cut from this cloth? Does he have what it takes to create a high performance team that generates interest and investment from the community, alumni and sponsors? Is there a major sponsor out there? The way Manchester City went from an also ran club to one of the top 4 teams in Europe, with Saudi money, is that investor out there? SMU does not pay any of my commitments. They have no control over me or UNT. This is a business game now and we need a sports CEO at the helm. They are out there as are millionaire and billionaires in our neighborhood. Forever loser squads have turned the tide. Fortune favors the proactive, stout, influencing executive that takes the reins and ignite continuous improvement action. GMG- 19 replies

Nothing is off the table per new AAC commish
NM Green replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Football
He would be well served to come in and preempt the PAC before they begin their poach. Make contingency when we lose Tulane South Florida Rice Memphis to the new ACC. Need the future AAC to be stronger than the ACC MWC PAC Sun Belt MAC and CUSA. Climb and build relationships with Big 12 players. We’ve got some basketball schools to do that with and with solid football additions this could be a good goal. GMG -

Me too. I infuse my level of enjoyment into the equation. And I would say really look forward to heading to Denton, and watching them on tv and in Fort Worth. Didn’t make an away game this year but I like the style of play. They played hard and to the end. It was a bunch of new guys and a learning coach. Proud of this team. Thank you Mean Green! GMG

Let’s just ride this wave. The fact that we have a tough game to look forward to this weekend is delicious. GMG

This respect is happening as a result of culture that has formed around this sport in our university. It’s so exciting. We get to play along with all those universities from big to small conferences while getting pumped for the upcoming hours and days. Thank you players, Coach Grant and Coach Hodge. Beat LSU GMG

Dickies is great but that attendance was horrific. Put the tournament in Nashville. There has to be a second arena to the SEC location. Vegaa has 4 tournaments happening! MWC PAC 12 WCC and WAC. They might even have the Big West! Or Put it in Memphis and change the court. UNLV hasn’t been able to win the tournament on their home court if at all. But you pick the best city location people want to play in and to me Nashville gets the nod. Or New Orleans on Tulane’s floor. Heck San Antonio would have had more fans. Fort Worth is not a draw despite the great venue. Comerica in Frisco would at least have entertainment options closer. I wish legacy East/West had an arena if we kept it local. The Star was fun but the venue horrible. Nashville please. GMG

Watching this Temple team is fun. They make a game helter skelter. They might give FAU fits if they pull this off over Charlotte. We know that Dusty will work those refs and slow this game down with continuous parades to the line. Would Temple ever go or go back to the Big East? They have a wicked East Coast feel in their fanbase. It’s fun. Hope to make that trek there this fall. GMG
