It is still America as far as I can see. Non-issue in my opinion.

University of Houston's OC resigns after Texas State loss
NM Green replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
That is Franchione's specialty, kill you with running backs and mix in a short pass that catches you napping. They killed the Houston spirit, much like I felt until we started getting some things rolling against LSU. GMG -
University of Houston's OC resigns after Texas State loss
NM Green replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
Don't discount the Franchione effect. He loves this role ala New Mexico. Utah was #8 when they rolled into University Stadium and got beat by the Lobos. You add in some Texas talent, fewer expectations than at Bama and TAMU and disrespected (see UTSA). I think Texas State is going to play above their heads again this week when Tech rolls into town and don't be surprised to see a Red Raider upset. That will pull them off any future schedules see UNT:) GMG -
The three guys in front of me were diehard LSU fans but lived in Denton ironically. They follow UNT closely as the dad was a grad but they travel down for all Tiger games. They were obviously shaken by the fact that LSU with their stellar QB was not able to blow up our defense. Our guys confidence built during the game and though they gave up the late TD I can't help but think that the number 8 team in the country was playing number 2 and had the same game we did - all the way down to the late turnover with one minute to go in the game - weird. Now we are not Michigan or in the top 10, but we played a hard fought game from beginning to end and unlike other games we were not only playing better because the other team let off the gas. The Mean Green was playing better because they rose up and got pissed. They made a couple of plays and gave it their all. We will not enter Manhattan thinking we can't win that game. Getting it will not be easy but watch out purple people because the Green are coming to town in a less than two weeks. Meanwhile, it is time to punish TSU this weekend. Tailgate on the Hill pre and post game - it's on MG Nation! GMG

Well Arky State was getting lit up in Oregon tonight. I actually think at Toledo Arizona type matchup is perfect. Let's be the Toledo and take our chances. As for LSU I think our boys actually learned some things tonight about what they CAN do. They can play some tough D. Our running game can carve up a good D with some nuances and effort. We can win the rest of our games including the KSU and Arky State battle. They are going to have to bring that intensity to Apogee next weekend but the guys should consider themselves one of the echelon teams in the Belt. We need to bring it like it is LSU every weekend and we will win our share of games this year. GMG

Leaving Baton Rouge now and listening to Tiger fans tell us we played a good game is refreshing. Plus I saw it with my own eyes. After the guys settled into the game they played their hearts out. We took our D to the number 3 team in the nation and walked out with our heads high. That is awesome. Further, as a 26 year follower of the Mean Green it has been awhile since I felt good about a game of this magnitude. I refuse to call it a body bag game because Coach does not tell the guys they are playing a body bag game and they don't think it. After tonight I think we beat TSU, Troy, Houston, South Alabama, Lafayette, Florida Atlantic, Western Kentucky, ULM. I think Middle is a trap game and I think Arky State and KSU will be tough. This is going to be a fun year ladies and gentlemen. GMG

As a Mean Green Diehard. I must say that I will not be crushed if we never play Oregon. I like them and they are fun to watch. I just think you are made to look like fools under the lights in Autzen. I think Oregon and Death Valley are the two toughest places to play in college football at night. GMG

15 College Football Games Tonight! Are you kidding me?
NM Green replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Heading to the UNLV tailgate in a few short hours. Go REBELS!!!!! -
I think the big college popcorn tin at that popcorn store in Northpark is very cool! In fact it is one of the best looking tins in the whole shop! GMG

Well I think of San Antonio in general and certainly the Alamodome has to be close:) GMG

I think a Tulsa rivalry will be great, but I was thinking first about UTSA or La Tech when I first saw the title to this thread. I do like the sound of the Texoma Trophy. GMG For the UTEP game how about marketing - North meets West For UTSA - the I-35 showdown For Tulsa - the Texoma Trophy For Rice - the Big City Brawl For La Tech - Stumped? GMG

Buttons too. In the USC bookstore they had buttons for every home game available. It was Go Trojans Beat Hawaii...or something along those lines. I thought was a great way to prep for the season - I'll take a handful please - 5 buttons this year. GMG

What Away Games Are You Planning On Attending?
NM Green replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
LSU - tickets bought and hotel in the quarter KSU - out of the country FAU - maybe Houston - oh yeah! Middle - committment most likely NO ULM - yes WKU - yes GMG -
You know I am not 100% sure they were the owners. They just had that look of investment and like a husband and wife team. Maybe I just caught two individuals I misread. Either way he said I could leave it there and they would find a place for it. This is the NY Subway right off Eagle I believe it is, literally across from Clark Hall and behind Sack and Save. GMG

Thanks Team for a great opportunity to support the Mean Green. Here is my summary for the area around Sack and Save: Chase Bank - said they wanted to post it but needed to check with regional leadership before posting. He took my number so in case they said "No" I could pick the poster up. Econo Cleaners - large poster up Supercuts - large poster on employee bulletin board area; Octoberfest sign in front window Natural Nails - large poster up Dollar General - large poster up and Octoberfest up (both in window) Jefferson Clinic - large poster up and Octoberfest up (in waiting area) Planet Tan - large poster up Smoothie Factory - left 5 brochures on community table North Texas Laundromat - large poster up Roys Wash n Dry - left poster with hardcore Mean Green Fan and active financial supporter after manager said nothing could go up in window (Tim is the owner of this business and I think he should be called to find out how he would like to support the University that sits directly across from his business) Chicken Express - large poster will be framed on Mean Green wall New York Subway - owners said they would place the sign up and I believed them Campus Bookstore - two small posters up in two windows Oriental Chinese Fast Food Express - small poster in window Subway - small poster that they would put on the employee bulletin board IHOP - left 5 brochures Metro PCS and Taco Cabana said they were corporate and could not place anything up with the logos. I too think these corporate offices should be called to find out how they would like to support the University that so many of their patrons come from. My statement was "Good morning, I am from the Alumni Association and we have the brand new posters for the upcomting football season. I was hoping I might be able to put one up in your window?" I was not met with any resistance and I couldn't help but think how awesome it would be for students, cheerleaders and players to descend upon businesses with goodies and literature. I would even have Scrappy make an appearance at some lucky child oriented businesses. Sorry for the long message but this was exciting and has the potential to grow into a true distribution force. I was finished distributing all of my materials less than 90 minutes after leaving the Mean Green lot with my supplies. Great job team! See you on the Hill. GMG

Well when the team hits the field it is funny how all the summer negative chatter disappears. All we ask is that our teams are well prepared, that they play hard and that the fans do their part. It truly is a simple recipe and despite the look of it at times, this is going to be an exciting and memorable year! Heading to the most memorable tailgate I have ever witnessed in Baton Rouge. It will be fun to be the dot of green in the Tiger land. GMG

My cousin got a scholly for Woman's Volleyball and I hate that all my Penn State souvenirs seem to have a bit of a tarnish, even though it doesn't say Penn State football on my shirt. However, I would think that this program will still get a lot of attention and kids could truly participate in the rebuilding of a football power. I think there will be some that will draw to that, few but some. I also think there are some out there that will simply be rooting for PSU to come back one day and carve out a new legacy (a post JoPa,Sandusky legacy). I don't have an allegiance other than the cousin connection but I do feel for the fanbase and many innocent folks around that program that will suffer as a result those tragic individuals/decisions. GMG

Nothing like a straight-forward name Emmitt. I think we have a winner and thank you for all those years! Maybe next year the university could support the effort as part of all the tours they give over the heated months. Meanwhile the 28th will be a great day for UNT and the community. GMG

Sun Belt commissioner: Blue Raiders 'flagship' of conference
NM Green replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I think flagship means they are the first to leave should that CUSA spot open up. I think Nashville is a missing link in our future conference footprint. I have no ill will toward the Sun Belt or MTSU and if I recall the Belt used to get some nice wins over CUSA every year. I won't look down on anyone and will actively root for the Belt when we are not playing each other. GMG -
Agree with Valley. This is a whole new ballgame for Texas A&M, and I have not been this interested in watching what transpires in College Station since my Sister was there in the 90's. People who think A&M will drop off the map are not thinking clearly. I know they hate losing the Texas game, but I am sorry having the Gators and Tigers of LSU drop into Kyle Field with their throngs of RV's, rabid fans and SEC tailgates is flat out exciting. The Texas TCU game is silly. I am glad that Thanksgiving now has sports options because I won't be tuning into this game. I don't like either team so no need to watch. Texas A&M has a lot of work to do to get ready for their new life. I know I am the minority here, but I am really excited to introduce the SEC to Texas football. Gig'em! GMG

It seems like there were a lot of winners in this round, for a change. Take the Aggies. I get the Aggies email blast and they are settling into their new home getting ready for the unexpected. They will forge new rivalries, play in the best league in the land and finally get some Texas type exposure based on their BCS type matchup every single week. TCU has come home to roost. I think roast but roost is the positive spin on it. I think TCU will be thrilled to be home after a great journey. I think they will middle of the pack it for a long time but they will be home and that is a great thing for their fans. SMU and Houston get out of CUSA and get to rebuild the BE. They join forces with a power called Boise State and they will actually breathe some new life into that weak league. They get out of Texas and get to expose their program to the populated part of the nation. The ugly bird on the riverwalk didn't even have to wait or go through the perils all programs do. Well they will when they get beat down early and often in the dome and on the road. But they win by bringing major college football to SAT. We win after staying with our patient model of Southland - Big West - Sun Belt - CUSA. We have had ups and downs but invested and experienced success at a good time. We will now get those named programs into Denton and the local media. It will be a fun ride to go regional after being flung all over the place for the past 20 years. La Tech also demonstrated great patience and will finally reap some local regional rivalry benefits. Texas has their network. Enough said. They have been surprisingly quiet to the national folks but they are Texas and they will still get the majority of coverage in the Lone Star State. It will be interesting to see how long they stay excited to play Baylor, Texas Tech, West Virginia and TCU. I still think the Pac whatever opportunity may be too good to resist in due time. Having Texas Oregon, Texas USC and Texas OU matchups every year might be too juicy to not do down the road. Throw in the renewed rivalry with Texas Texas A&M and now you have a real schedule that rivals what the Aggies have now in Texas A&M Bama Texas A&M Auburn Texas A&M LSU Texas A&M Arkansas Texas A&M Florida Texas A&M South Carolina... I just see a lot of winners with what has unfolded and now it will be interesting to see who executes. GMG

Sorry Mavs fans
NM Green replied to emmitt01's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I wish Cuban would just let Carlyle go out and develop some talent. Why try to buy the primadonna talent. I just think the Spurs methodology is completely underrated. GMG -
Wild regionally it does not make sense, it is a good move for Boise. If they can replicate dominence in the BE while sharing their brand to the East Coast that could be a huge windfall for them. They could take their brand national much faster than other programs not named USC, Texas, Ohio State or Florida. It would be something to see bronco gear being worn around the Big Apple, but it will if they consistently go out east and kick tail. The same could have been said for SDSU had they moved their bball programs with them. I think the Big West will be bad for them. Driving through Utah it is weird to see BYU in the WCC for hoops and Utah virtually falling into Pac 10 oblivion. I know it is early but USA is about to be back and the desert will warm up with Rodriguez. I guess the same could be said for SMU and Houston as well. In fact it might be easier to sell successful Pony gear in the east than it is in East Dallas. GMG
