Hit the Irishmen pub on Boca Raton Blvd. It’s a blast after the game. Perfect plan to stay in Fort Lauderdale and drive up. Hit Takato’s for a fun, awesome sushi experience in Conrad Fort Lauderdale. Overlooking the beach. Sweet. GMG

Thank you for what you do. Grassroots organization is easy to support and feels great. Plus power groups on roadies allows for solid meetups in bars pre and post game. Good chance to meet opposing fans and start building relationships with our conference mates. GMG

Whatever the look they be giving out at our sports teams let’s show up with some numbers. SFA night was last week and the purple showed up in good numbers and this year they got a jersey. The jersey read Jacks on the back. Cool with their purple and white hat from last year. I told them to show up in Denton in gear in a few short weeks. A Mean Green sprawled across the back of a baseball jersey in 2025 would be sweet. GMG

It’s just a constant recruiting season. Constant and continuous. Was chatting with an OU fan and they lost Dillon Gabriel to Oregon. So it happens to all teams every level. They have serious unknowns entering the SEC. I don’t know why but I think Morris could be good at luring key talent. But his results need to show in 2024. GMG

Bought the hat ticket combo for $25. There is going to be some solid Green in GLF amongst the rowdy orange, red and blue. Big crowd night to rep the Mean Green. GMG

Did anyone go today? What was it like? Tomorrow should be interesting. GMG

If you can accept we are a minor league now

But interestingly enough everyone I talk to who has transferred from another university to finish at UNT or completes an advanced degree totally loves UNT. They love the school, their program, Denton…but they don’t start there so they lack the indoctrination. We also need to create a better Gameday culture for football and basketball and these teams need to be marketed to the region, not UNT students. There simply aren’t enough interested. But a dad with a little sports girl in Corinth might totally be wooed to a soccer, softball or basketball game up the road. GMG -
Well their colors are green and orange. Everyone wants to claim North Texas and Dallas (see TAM Commerce). We taught them how to play the billboard game. GMG

I think it makes total sense for A&M to head to the Big. Two instances have fueled this: 1. The non consultation that Texas was being invited and added. 2. Their douchie baseball coach. This was not a slight per se because he was always going to Texas. But the lie on Monday and switch on Tuesday was terrible. Can’t support that dude. I don’t consider it running form Texas because it is an equally impressive move. USC Oregon Penn State the Ohio State university Michigan and Washington traversing into Kyle Field is juicy. Plus you dance with the devil that is Texas and you will be burned. I keep telling my LSU and Tennessee friends to just watch and beware. Either way this would be good for the 12. That basketball league would be stout and football would be solid again with replacing Texas and Oklahoma with Florida State and Clemson. Got to be honest I wouldn’t really want any of those leftovers. What a potential chance for the MWC and AAC to join forces to create an interesting lineup. GMG

How difficult/doable would this be?
NM Green replied to ScreamingEaglesFan's topic in Mean Green Football
It’s an interesting time. I still go back to the weird thinking that you grow a sport by shrinking its passionate fanbase. There is a lot of collective passion in the G5. Schools were already seeing a decline in attendance. Big and small schools. As a fan I now seriously consider how much I want to invest to travel to Tulsa or New Orleans or Memphis or West Point. I don’t see this heading the right direction for the health of the sport. But a saving grace would be to go here: 4 playoff spots for the SEC 4 playoff spots for the Big 2 playoff spots for the 12 2 playoff spots for the ACC 2 playoff spots for the G5 Wouldn’t that keep all levels still interested? Or get good. I mean all of these dormant alumni would proudly talk about them being UNT Alumni if we have a FOOTBALL run like Boise or Cincinnati or Memphis or SDSU or Coastal Carolina, even JMU. It’s bizarre that in all these years I’ve followed the Mean Green we’ve never hired a coach that has led us to a magical run. Meanwhile UTSA gets Coker and Traylor in a span of a few years. FAU gets Schellenberger and Kiffin. If Morris doesn’t deliver I hope the next coach has won as a head coach at the collegiate level equal or better to the AAC. Napier comes to mind but he couldn’t win above the SBC as the head guy. Experience has always mattered in my book. GMG -
AAC discussing NIL compensation cap
NM Green replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
I would want to get out of the AAC immediately. GMG -
Interesting notes on the PAC 2. I think Pernetti needs to go get Air Force to get all 3 Academies into the same league. America will always have a place for the military schools and they all 3 have solid followings. If we need a western bridge get CSU or New Mexico which is likely to get left out in a Pac8 scenario. Lots of Baylor fans in bright yellow and green tonight. The hats looked good with the Texas Ranger yellow jerseys they got last year. They also took over several sections in the outfield near the cheerleaders in a coordinated effort. Wish we could do the same to get some solid green contingents together. The Astros game will be busy though. So show up in your UNT gear. Get the hat and cheer on the Champs as they make a post All Star push to the playoffs. GMG

Proud to share a league with America’s finest. Welcoming Army to the AAC this special week is wonderful. GMG

If I were the PAC 2 I would go after these teams to make the 8. SDSU Boise St Memphis USF Fresno State UNLV Oregon State Washington State next level expansion targets: Colorado State UTSA Hawaii FAU North Texas Tulane 4 of these 6 them takes them to 12. Then they bolt to the Big 12. But we’d be in good company. Need a great football year. GMG -
If the hat is stupid or ugly, still show up. There is something cool about bantering with fans from the universities when they come on their day in their gear. Dress the kids up, wear Mean Green proudly and let’s represent in the Big 12’s backyard. SMU brings their orientations out or something like that, huge groups, I grinned last year because those kids traveling west of 35 are funny. It’s culture shock to them. They almost don’t know what to do amongst the Texas common folk. Their bubble of uptown deep ellum downtown Henderson avenue and smu Blvd is cute but is sure ain’t the Arlington entertainment district. They go for their hats and bail around the 4th inning. Martinis anyone? GMG

Well the time to breakthrough is now with the PAC 2 moving into conference configuration mode. GMG -
No they don’t wear the hats but most likely Scrappy will roam the stadium or Eric or Jared might throw out the first pitch. They usually acknowledge the University a few times across the night. Also college fans wear their gear this night. Lots of UTA, Texas, Texas Tech Aggie, Baylor and TCU gear present on their college nights. GMG
-
Disagree guys. Working there I know these look 10x better in person. The Argyle hat they had this year, same design was awesome. Now the Aledo hat was okay (black and orange, ummm) But the simple design works. It’s good to represent on the is night. Wear your UNT gear on this day whether you opt into the hat or not. Buy your promo ticket soon to guarantee the hat. I want to see a lot of Mean Green on this night roaming the concourses on this night. GMG

I would agree with LSU, at night, first. That’s a big caveat because their day games are weird. They got trounced by Tennessee in an 11am game. Autzen has to make that top 10 somehow someway. GMG
-
Well that would be foolish to leave one of the hottest markets in the world out of a western evolution. The question is does MWC or AAC wield the final breakout. Army Navy USF Memphis Tulane FAU will not go quietly into the dark. Neither will North Texas nor UTSA. GMG
-
At this position. In EM I trust. GMG

UTSA is too low. We are Too high until I see wins. UTSA should be top 5. Coaching matters. We need a proven accomplishment year to move into the top 20. GMG
