  1. Yes I agree. That was a strange statement by them. I don’t think they like seeing all the movement around them. If JMU and App State start getting feelers for the west coast I think you will really start seeing some stirring in tiger town. We can’t panic if members get wobbly. There will be quality joiners available if people depart. GMG
  2. This would be very good for the Mountain West to actually expand its footprint. And nobody’s been able to disrupt the Mac. Interesting development. Mountain West might look very different soon. Beat Tulsa GMG
  3. I’m rooting for the MWC. They have a chance to flip the script now that they held onto two solid brands. Texas State would be a great add and Northern Illinois would be solid too. Let the pac go get UTEP Sam NMSU or LaLa for their final member. GMG
  4. Man I love this uni. Let’s go get 4-1. GMG
  5. Excited to see two future foes battle it out tonight. Having Army rolling into Denton strong would be good. But Temple seems improved. Game in Philly could be tricky! GMG
  6. San Antonio has to be biting his lip and by him I mean Jeff. You know utsa deep down wanted the pac. If Texas state gets an invite, there will be some squirming in the corridors down south. That would put Texas state on equal footing with the Runners. I vote to hold off on Texas State for the AAC because they are too close to SAT. I’d rather hit a new market or stronger longer sustained program. GMG
  7. Assuming UNLV eventually goes. That leaves the MWC at what 6 members Reno New Mexico San Jose State Air Force Wyoming Hawaii I would add: UTEP could they get Texas State Sam Houston or La Tech? That would give them 10 with their base in the mountains and tentacles into Texas, California and the Islands. GMG
  8. I love the mass of fans that show up at an Academy game. When Air Force played Army in Globe Life a couple of years ago, the American spirit was awesome! Get AFA in the American! 🇺🇸 GMG
  9. In my opinion UTSA deserved to be in the 4. I don’t like them or that fact but this is football recency bias. San Antonio built a successful football program worthy of moving up. Now the PAC would have also gotten their not very good basketball program and the other sports. But it didn’t matter. These moves were being made on football alone. Yet the powers that be have to look at the whole package and our whole package is very strong to the deciders. We know the factors. The only way to leverage our way back to a level perception with them is by beating them. Beating them silly like TSU did would be delicious but just beating them is our next step. As for Traylor. I think he realized that this is UTSA’s best shot for elevation. I do believe they step back this year. I do believe his team will get poached every year. I do believe his nightmare of the longhorns long run of sustained success and the eyeballs of San Antonio is here. Texas State is loud and here. They are going to get paid back by the league in 24. It’s everyone’s best shot in a long while. UTSA couldn’t make it happen out west. I predict he is on the move perhaps to Waco in a few short months. 11.15.24 GMG
  10. I think this game is closer because their offense is better. I say: Tulsa 24 UNT 36 4-1 here we come! GMG
  11. I don’t think there will be reconsideration. The AAC has a good thing and can lure JMU and Air Force if desired. The ground got more solid the last 24. Good for us, because our hype train is pulling into the station this month and loading up! GMG
  12. Agreed we looked fast and the green popped off the turf. It was cool seeing Wyoming’s traditional brown and yellow and white combo. After all those years living in mountain west country I couldn’t get over watching the Cowboys in Denton against our Green. Nice fan turnout from the gold. GMG
  13. I do think this has the marks of JT looking out for himself first and San Antonio second. He wants to compete at the top level which I get. He’s a football 🏈 coach But smart move for UTSA across the board? Iffy. Again San Antonio will have interesting decisions to make. Elevate Texas State at your discretion. give the Bobcats natural rivals, trips to West Point Colorado Springs Annapolis Boca Raton Tampa Charlotte Philly Dallas and Houston at your own comfort level. Meanwhile you will be in Corvallis Fresno San Diego Fort Collins New Orleans and Memphis. Nice locations but Texas State is going to be able to build and UNT will continue to excel. beat Wyoming! GMG
  14. Great win for SoBama. Good for us. Now go beat Wyoming. GMG
  15. With Pernetti’s visit today it looks like we are dug into the AAC. Let’s make the best of it. UTSA may go away and it’s time to get reacquainted with Texas State. I’m down. beat Wyoming GO AAC GMG
  16. Oh I agree we should listen to the PAC 12, but I don’t think we were asked. UTSA would be wise to demand the 12 give them a travel partner and I bet they would recommend us over Texas State. We should be approaching them with this same conversation whether they think we have a right to voice it or not and we may be their backup plan. It would be good for us to have decisions to make because that means we’re being stealthily considered. Every single AAC school needs to make clear high demands to even consider a 12 move. The AAC is not CUSA. Get what you want or don’t go. GMG
  17. 5 years is nothing to wait for the opportunity to join the Big 12 which Memphis fits brilliantly. Heck we plan for Olympics and World Cups for 10 years planning for a desired conference move for 5 years is minimal. Beat Wyoming GMG
  18. If UTSA gets in it will be timing and literally just under the gun. They will ride the spirit of Harris right onto the west coast. But there is really little research being done on this program. 1. when they win they draw. They are falling back, not fully down but back for the coming years. 2. my cousin was a volleyball coach there and they struggle to recruit due to budget and facilities. The new money will help but they have a hill to climb. UTSA has some serious decision to make if offered. They will cede Texas attention to San Marcos and Austin. They will lose Texas travel destinations for their fans in Houston and Dallas. This is bigger than money and to UTSAs credit they seem to be weighing it all. They will also elevate Texas State when they enter the AAC to play USF FAU the Academies Texas teams and the Carolina schools on a regular basis. Texas State is being pretty stealth right now and they stand to gain biggly if the Runners head out of state. GMG
  19. I do think that would be smart on Memphis’ part. Get the best deal for the Tigers and stay put playing smack on the middle of SEC Big 12 country. If that happens the AAC stays strong and equal to the PAC no matter who they come after. Plus if Memphis stays you lose interest from UNT which isn’t even on the radar and everyone not named Tulane and UTSA. The runners have not tried life without natural rivals and close away games to travel to. It would be a sobering experiment for them because this program needs to win to keep San Antonio engaged. They are already about to struggle with a number 1 Texas for years to come in their sheshed. GMG
  20. I listened to a pac expansion show this morning and they think it’s Tulane and utsa. They are not high on Memphis coming, perhaps they get vibes from Memphis uncertainty. They feel south Florida is too far east. Curiously they seem to decide on these programs for football success, investment in facilities and going to bowl games. They even mentioned academics as a detriment to Memphis and say that’s why Tulane should get the nod. Well San Antonio has okay facilities and has won one bowl game. If they take Tulane and UTSA let them go out west with no natural rivals. Bottom line is that they never mention UNT or Rice as options though these markets are rich. They don’t understand our investment which mirrors what CSU has done without the football success to follow like the Rams. Memphis is the key. If Pernetti keeps the Tigers in the AAC along with South Florida lures AF and replaces Texas State if the runners leave, I’m good with us here. Five years until the ACC blows up is nothing in master time frames. Memphis and Tulane would do well to stay put invest, plot their move to the Atlantic Coast. Smu fan says the academics are a deal breaker for Memphis. The ACC is going to need recognized successful brands. Memphis if they stay the course will compete for a spot. At a minimum they enter the Big 12. This Clemson FSU situation actually helps the AAC. Now go get AF UNLV Nevada and La Tech if Tulane shifts west. Tulane and San Antonio are the most wobbly to me. GMG
  21. Moving to the west coast on a hope and a prayer tv deal seems plausible for some programs not all of them. I love the west coast mountain west programs but it is easy to get forgotten out there. I am thinking Memphis Tulane here. I disagree that UTSA has proven it can hold its own. They have had success but these next couple of years will be telling in their power sports. How do they handle challenging seasons. Basketball is wobbly and football is being tested. They may have done enough to get in and if they did it will be based on the past versus the present. GMG
  22. Good for Pernetti. Go fight to keep Memphis. I like a fighting Commish even if his odds aren’t great. Memphis holds all the cards here. I think Memphis on the west coast seems off to me. They rule the roost in the AAC and know the eyeballs are in the east. Pernetti can remind them of their powerful position and ultimate play to the ACC and Big 12 when those leagues start shaking. MG will have to take charge and elevate wherever we go or stay and whoever our conference mates are. Good for Memphis outing themselves in this position. It’s been a good body of work for them. GMG
  23. It has the feeling of a bowl game. Like that feeling of can Littrell get us over the hump this time? It’s not as Wyoming is struggling but man do we need to be nervous and energetic. I hope to see fire level intensity on that sideline: SF 49’s style, SMU style, UTSA style. Optics and mission planning and energy visible throughout. GMG
  24. I agree with the approach noted. I don’t want upheaval as much as I want 3-1 and 4-1 before we even get to October. I’m pissed about Saturday but I’m ready to get that fight out on Saturday on the Cowboys. This week will fly by and there is much for everyone to prepare for. Us fans how to be raging inside that stadium, loud and intense the whole game. The team how to get and build a lead and make them play catchup. GMG
  25. Show up cranky, pissed and wholly embarrassed from what happened on the Plains. Tech fans were gristly and couldn’t get enough beat down vibes out of them. That Washington State debacle had everyone from Sweetwater to Clovis in the mood to rumble. We need to be seething with get right game fumes all week. GMG
