My hopes for Mean Green Football this Season
NM Green replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Wasn't that the most bizarre 40 points we have ever scored! Didn't feel like 40 bit we killed it. Green brigade killed it. Tailgate killed it. Beautiful day in Denton!!!!! GMG- 20 replies

Vegas lines for UNT Idaho game as of 8.25.13
NM Green replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I will root for Idaho after we hammer them on the last day of the month. I don't predict a blowout because UNT has not blown anyone out since that Blue Raider embarrassment on a rainy Denton day. I hope for a solid win and 1-0 record in a few short days! GMG -
A trap game happens when one competitor is completely superior in every facet possible. Someone please tell me where the blue dreaders have ever been so superior to UNT that we couldn't compete against them. And yes I was there in the rain for 52 - 7. turd raiders coming for another Apogee beat down. GMG

I hear ya. I love Denton but we really should expand our reach up to Gainesville Sanger Decatur and pepper the metro with some boards and radio ads. Lots if CUSA alum all over dfw. I did love seeing my posters prominently displayed in the square bars last night. No excuses just identify measurables reach out to community and region and fill Apogee. GMG

After Louisville leaves I believe Uconn will have been the only BCS team in the AAC. That gives you very little perceived distance between the AAC and CUSA. You will have been to the same number of high profile bowls as the Mac and one above the sbc and CUSA. Further the juicier programs outside If what Cincy lie in other leagues. The MWC is way above the AAC with the juggernaut blue. CUSA well positioned to take off! GMG!!!!!

I am in Tulsa tonight and have definitely found our mean green takeover bar it's called The Hunt Club. It's in the district in downtown very cool - TVs live music awesome wings and cold beer. I wish Tulsa and Tulane were staying and not sure this will be a good move for them long-term. CUSA has strong brand rep. We need to ride this happy train and get one of our teams into the BCS this year and playoffs going forward. GMG

Dang vandals and mean green has an old school ring! Will never forget free beers at the loophole for every touchdown on that win that launched us into our first bowl in like 50 years! They couldn't pour them fast enough and we drained some kegs that night! Brilliant!!!!!!

ULM to start offering beer at football games
NM Green replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
If club seats are the real reason holding up beer sales then that is just flat dumb. I have enjoyed many a cold one at all UH events (the good UH Hawaii) and UNLV games. Basketball and football is just so much tastier with a blue moon in hand. GMG -

13 wins in 6 years. 13 wins in 6 years. 13 wins in 6 years. That is the image I want the Mean Green ripping apart when they take that field in 12 days. GMG -
Outstanding work Old Guy Student! Grab a poster or two and keep peppering the metroplex. Making it the Mean Green Metroplex encounter by encounter! GMG

Wins again the vandals miners and birds make us 3-0. Go 3-3 against la tech, ohio, ball state, rice, middle, southern miss Upset Tulsa Competitive against Georgia I see two long shot wins. I see 500 against teams we are equal to (I would feel better if we got MAC teams other that the bobcats and cardinals). Southern Miss should be a win but I can't put them into the undefeated category because it is on the road and SMISS pride is real. I see 6 wins minimum 7 or 8 if the ball bounces our way. I don't think those are low expectations especially since we are coming off 4 wins last year playing in a new league. GMG

That is a sobering stat - 13 wins the next 6 years. Wow! I feel good about this season because coach is methodical and takes the long view. That is tough for us fans but it is the way to build some depth, competition and consistency. His ISU teams were never flashy but they won and pulled some upsets. I believe that is going to happen here and we will see marked improvement this year. With a right mindset, solid skillset and understanding of a system you can look good - real good. I don't expect us to go in a blow out Georgia, but I do anticipate us lining up against Rice, Tulsa, Ball State, La Tech and Ohio and play a solid competitive game with a chance to win. I truly look for good outings and "w's" against UTEP, UTSA and Idaho. Time to deliver. GMG

After arriving back in town late, I must admit that I thought twice about it when the alarm rang at 8:30am. After some DD coffee it was on and I too was thrilled how receptive everyone was today. I knew it was going to be a great day when I got the "thumbs up," "sure," and "go right ahead!" on my first three stops. Add in the weather (can I order some of this up for August 31st) and complimentary adult beverage giveaway and it was perfect! My drop goals were accomplished by noon and I wandered around the Square falling in awe of Denton all over again. I circled the same area as last year which was nice because I used the "last year we placed a poster in that window..." card. I didn't get one rejection and the one guy at the pizza joint in the square who balked was cut off by a fan at the bar who asked if he could get one of those. Even the ladies in Supercuts who were busy just directed me to the Community Board. Businesses I placed either posters or magnet schedules in were: Jefferson Dental Clinic, Dollar General, Dry Cleaner, Natural Nails, Supercuts, NY Subway, Subway (break room), Roys Laundromat, North Texas Laundromat, EZ Check, O'Reilly (break room), Family Dollar and Labb sports bar. Fun stuff. Thank you for organizing this ritual event. GMG

But does anybody else want to beat them like a drum in every sport possible? You can't force a rivalry but you sure can dislike a dirty bird. GMG

While I do expect the Herd to be tough this year I really do think they are taking the South Florida twins a bit lightly. They will pummel the dirty birds from South Texas nicely but they might be tested more than they think they are going to be. I could see them playing in the championship game. Get there NT and it will be reminiscent of those playoff days in the 80's! GMG

Perfect so it is the 17th! I participated in this last year and had a blast. It is becoming a ritual event and if all goes well (I am in town) I will definitely be there as well! gmg
