I lived in Las Vegas from 07-12 spanning the great depression. Few cities were gutted like Las Vegas during that time and come to think of it Smastrek truly was a breath of fresh air in a nasty haze. Basketball came back strong during his tenure and he was always positive, something the city and its residents really needed during that time. I hope he brings big vision and a huge community outreach to the entire Metroplex with him. We ARE North Texas - all of North Texas and I support this hire in a big way! GMG

I met Dr. Smatresk when I was living in Las Vegas and he is a class act. I would love to have him come to Denton because he is passionate about sports. He was a HUGE UNLV Runnin Rebel supporter and was easy to connect with. He was involved in the community and supportive of efforts to build the Rebellion (student section, great name by the way) into a force to be reckoned with in the Thomas & Mack. The crazy thing is that Dr. Smastrek was in Hawaii when I lived a mile from UH (University of Hawaii). I was in Las Vegas when he arrived in Sin City. I moved back to Dallas last year so book it - Here comes Dr. Smastrek! GMG

Unlv has the same set up with a stadium way off campus they are trying to come home to the strip. UTSA will one day too. GMG

I almost liked you bird. I have been to the dome and it is a nice facility. But apogee is special. If you make it up to Denton I highly recommend you tailgate on the hill. UNT fans are nice and welcoming. The scenery in Denton is five star. Apogee is a true college tailgate and gameday experience. Glad we are conference foes. GMG

Runner come to the hill. You can drive your car right up to your lot up until 3 hours before kickoff. Fouts is far and the scenery on the hill is simply spectacular! You will find djs spinning on the hill and easy access to restrooms and all tailgates . You will just need to secure your tailgate items nearby or if someone stays at the gate the hole game it makes for a fantastic postgate. You can drive up on the hill one hour after the game concludes. Welcome! I'm a San Antonio native but Mean Green diehard. GMG!!!!!

It could be better. I was boarding a plane in Detroit this past week and this girl in front of me looked at my hoodie and then did a double-take. She said that is where I went to school. She proceeded to say that in that airport up north was the last place she expected to see a North Texas sweater. I told her I was a big Mean Green fan and she giggled. She said, "Well I was a commuter student so I didn't get into much on campus." I have a feeling this bowl season when she sees the Mean Green being advertised during bowl week she is somehow going to feel more special than she did 10 days ago. Outreach needs to be better but we can all play a part in reving up the Mean Green engines at every opportunity. One fan at a time - Mean Green Nation coming home! GMG

Tech needs to worry a bit more about their game plan rather than their look. Nice it's for a great cause. But swear they are wearing a bowling ball on their head. GMG

It has to be an early jump on them. Get on their throat and get to the second half in good shape. I would like to see some other players get work due to out our comfortable lead. I think the extra couple of days to come down from the emotional win helped. I know on Saturday I turned to my buddy I was at the game with and said, I am exhausted. I was physically and emotionally drained from the awesome rush of adrenaline. I think the players will be hungry to get on the field to conduct another beat down. GMG

I loved that my 11 year old nephew saw the replay of The Stand on my tv and stated those unis are cool. I firmly believe t-shirt wearing fan would snag this look off the shelf in a flash. Get a sharp looking green look with a white SOW (and no I am not racist:)) and watch kids and fashionistas wear the cool look with pride. See and be seen in GREEN! Okay I copyright that tagline for next year! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!

Now that is hysterical! Longhorn fan on way to Austin texted on Friday and said how about the mean green! We had a lot if eyes watching us. Even one frog or pony fan stated that goal line stand was amazing! I am sure hey tries to confiscate his degree! GMG

I also think it helps that all of Texas plays all over now. We are legit with other programs who play sec AAC big 12 and even sbc. Multiple leagues represented. We have also shined at he right times on tv against Georgia rice and box scores from southern miss and la tech. We are rising and winning in a league many said we would need years of time in to cut our teeth. Play consistent win an come out healthy against utep. Over the weekend a server at twin peaks by smu noticed our green gear and mentioned she was at twu but all her friends were at UNT. She knew of our bowl eligibility clinching win. I was impressed. GMG

They are having one season we have felt for a long time around here. We know their frustration. Something is not right in Fort Worth. Frogs are dangerously close to imploding and Patterson's message may not be hitting the players like it used to. Petersen in Idaho is in a definite rebuild so their setback is strange but understandable. I think Patterson needs a new team to pound his message into. GMG
