I have a couple of longhorn fans attending their first apogee experience and am short one ticket if any others are floating around. Also called about indiana tickets today and they are $45 as an FYI. Game time still to be announced by the Hoosiers. It should be beautiful in bloomington that time of year. GMG

Does San Antonio Raiders have a ring to it?
NM Green replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree with Walker. When I lived in Vegas the Lobo fans were rabid, crazy and large in numbers during the tournament runs to March Madness. Their big ole population took over the Thomas & Mack and outnumbered Rebel fans on its own floor in basketball - that is a big deal. UNM and UTSA are similar in that their cities really get behind them. That did not make UNM unbeatable and it doesn't the Roadrunners either. We will have a great rivalry building with them in the coming years and I look forward to silencing the orange and blue this November when we go down and get our revenge win. GMG -

With the Pac 12 it is about academics and not wanting to mix with religion. BYU is an overall better program than Utah but Berkley and Palo Alto are not going to venture into Provo with ease. I think the Big 12 is BYU's only real chance at getting into the larger conferences and if Bevo would just let them bring their network too the deal could be signed yesterday. I hope they get there. Me too 92. I love the 3rd down stop chant that goes along with the band - the 3 sequence play that insert North Texas, North Texas, North Texas Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt. The best thing is that I am pretty confident we stole this from Southern Miss because out in Hattiesburg last year every time they would play it my GREEN section would sing the North Texas North Texas North Texas Fiiiiiiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhhhtttttttt chant too. Golden Eagle fans looked at us a little cray cray for stealing their cheer. GMG

I would love BYU in the Big 12. I follow BYU closely even attending a mens volleyball game and basketball game this year. I would love to see them swing through Fort Worth and Waco. Right now the Big 12's most interesting teams to me are Texas Tech and Baylor. Okie State can be interesting leading up to Bedlam. However, the Big 12 is no SWC in terms of got to watch it. I much prefer what is going on in Aggieland and their battles in the South. Of course Denton and the Mean Green trump all of this all of the time. I went to a Ute game too while on a project out there and ironically connected more with the Provo fanbase than UU. They are rabid and everywhere. Bring on Cougar Town. GMG

Any info on new Mean Green helmets/uniforms?
NM Green replied to MeanGreen55's topic in Mean Green Football
I like the expand the brand concept. If you put sleek Mean Green jerseys on some mannequins at the Rally House next to the Tech, TCU, OU uniforms I know some kids are going to think, "niiiiiiicccceeee. And they are winning right now." There is the loyalty fan and the fashion fan, and they don't always intersect. GMG -
ACC or bust. Beat Texas, get into the top 25, win CUSA and sell North Texas like Jones does Jerryworld and leap into the big boy conferences. Miami, Florida State and Va Tech and Clemson would not mind a bit dragging their programs into the lucrative athletic market of DFW every year. GMG

Just say Round 1 GO GREEN

I like the concept we should have a game day shirt for every home game. I've also seen beads and rubber bracelets for every game future game in the USC bookstore.

I think the day is much more friendly for the casual fan than New Years. Few people travel to Dallas for New Years - many will be around for a Mean Green bowl game. I think we end up in New Mexico anyway next year. GMG

Because we hate the LongWhores, none taken in the draft
NM Green replied to oldguystudent's topic in Mean Green Football
I am really shocked by this, especially when you always see some studs come out of Sun Belt schools, smaller schools... Orr will fit into the Baltimore system beautifully and Brelan is going to fly out by the beach. Both our guys landed in some good next life chapter places. GMG -
Good my team and I can warm up the "what's a hilltop per chant!" GMG

I like the way they are pulling this thing together with preservation and vision. They will be interesting to watch in the coming years. GMG

Geez that ou game sounded tough to stomach. I thought rice was painful. My worst roadie watch. GMG

Well fewer programs, especially "other conference" programs will ever be able to say they played and won a New Years Day Bowl Game. That in and of itself makes the memory of 1.1.14 that much sweeter! GMG

Former UNT Head Coach Todd Dodge is new coach at Austin Westlake
NM Green replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
All the best Coach Dodge. Good family and good heart. GMG -
I will never forget making our way to our section at the Rock last year and USM fans smack talking us,telling us we were going to be incredibly disappointed for traveling all that way to lose. My immediate thought was dang these fans are bold talking some smack with a like 20 game losing streak at the time. After seeing them beat us in New Orleans to watching us ruin their homecoming in person, it was definitely one of my Mean Green highlights of the season. The Sunday Funday party on Bourbon the next day was just gravy. GMG

I can't imagine CUSA or MWC poaching each other's programs. They seem more interested in protecting each other versus improving at each other's expense. I don't think we should spend too much energy trying to get into AAC. The DFW market is covered with SMU. Rather our attention should focus on building a top 25 program that becomes interesting to the ACC. We have better football, SMU has better hoops. Football drives the bus and we have market unlike Boise ever had the luxury of having as a power. Heck if we position ourselves right how smart would it be for the ACC to invite a Houston and UNT to penetrate the Texas market. At a minimum if we continue building a solid football program we will be on radars when changes happen to AAC, ACC and Big 12. GMG

I have a feeling our boys are going to show up in Austin and play really hard. I always fear what Strong and Louisville did to Ohio last year to start the year. That nationally televised destruction hangover combined with a North Texas team that didn't how great they could be showed up the following week and almost stole one from the Bobcats. I did not see that 49 point lead out of the gate coming and it made OU look worse than they were. Maybe Strong/Mac's relationship keeps the Horns from running it up, IF THEY CAN. Back to my opening sentence. This team knows about BIG moments and taking advantage of opportunities. If our horses are already game planning and training every day beginning now, that $100 ticket isn't going to be so painful. GMG
