We have an entitled quarterback who knows he is the starter for 4 years. You want accountability - put some pressure on this kid to have to perform or lose his job. Or is that only McNulty and Greer. We are stuck with you DW - settle down and make some plays. GMG

I am glad I went to see us play Indiana and not this game. We appeared to be playing the big bad Big 10 better than we are the East. GMG
-
Also got us to 9 wins and best bowl win ever. Have a high standard and get there. GMG

I totally miss DT but if we need someone to step forward and play smart. GMG

Tell me again how Dajon makes good decisions

UNT UTSA will be a war at the end of the season whether anything like a title or particular bowl game rides on it. We will both be more consistent and this - we don't really like each other so the Green and Orange are going to bring it. GMG

I think we win with 28. Defense will play better but the defense is also going to have to get us some points and keep the ball away from UAB. Back to 500 boys. Beat UAB. GMG

It was great to venture into Big 10 land with the team for the very first time. Random thoughts from the experience. 1. Fight - Mean Green never gave up. They were shell shocked in the first quarter and we couldn't get the ball. Losing the coin toss was tough because IU came out fired up. Their sideline jumped and danced like we were OSU for 3 quarters of the game. That type of emotion was unexpected to be honest, but they saw us as an opportunity to get back on track. We bring that focus and emotion to Bham and we compete and possibly win next week. Blazers will not be easy though. Dajon settled in nicely as the game progressed and a four quarter fight was great to see. 2. Game Day - The experience was fun but it is a basketball school. Their fans were awesome and we tailgated with many of them before the game and during halftime. Getting our tickets scanned to go out for a beer at halftime brought back good memories from Fouts. The band day was a great idea for an opponent they were not familiar with. It helped fill the seats a bit and the kids looked happy. Hoosier Village where you buy food and drink and listen to a band pre-game was cool. They even let us bring our beers in since we were from Denton and didn't know the rules about no outside alcohol. It was as chilly as it looked - usual highs 72 but was 52. Felt like Big Ten weather. 3. Aesthetics - All the Indiana flags flying at the entrance around the athletic complex were cool. I can't wait until we get baseball and our stadium. 4. Won't miss - First down Hoooooooooooosiers - oh so annoying. 5. Future - Thank you AD for getting this series and continue to forge games with this conference. I have NEVER watched more Big 10 football in my life as everything up here was the Big and Notre Dame. Back home I am so used to seeing Big 12 and SEC action post game. I can't help but think Rutgers, IU, Purdue and Maryland wouldn't want to showcase their programs in rich recruiting North Texas. 6. Denton Mystique - Many fans had some crazy story or romance about Denton. One guy remembered driving through Denton and seeing the sign "Home of Miss America" many years ago. We were intriguing to them and they couldn't wait to share their connection with our area. It was a fun time. Beat the Blazers! Go Mean Green!!!!!

Crazy weekend in college football
NM Green replied to BeanCounterGrad'03's topic in Mean Green Football
Throw in #8 UCLA going down to Utah and #16 USC going down to ASU on the last play of the game. CRAZY! I like BYU and it stunk watching Taysom get injured and their subsequent loss to USU otherwise they would have made the playoff picture very murky. So who is in the playoff this week? Arizona Notre Dame Florida State Mississippi State GMG -
Strange yes, but relationships matter. OU and UT have a favorable opinion of UNT is what it feels like. Those programs also wield a lot of influencing power. There are those UT OU t-shirt fans some which will go to UNT one day. Strange yes but minor on the big canvas. We have Indiana to beat! GMG

anybody watching the ducks play zona?

Might I suggest a domestic abuse month or color scheme. After all that affects everyone boys girls and would be so appropriate right about now. GMG -
In hindsight should we every play a Nicholls type game again? (POLL)
NM Green replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
What if you let your guard down against a Nicholls State? I am not going to go all TCU over the schedule. At least SMU finally grew the nuts to schedule us. TCU and Tech avoid us like the plague because we have surprised them in the past. Line up, strap it on and go get it. The only teams that I would really have to think twice about are NDSU and Sam Houston State, but other than that if we fear ACU then we really aren't ready for Tennessee next year or even Iowa. GMG -

NM Green replied to golfingomez's topic in Mean Green Football
You mad bro! SEC rocks! SEC West is just flat out fun football. Now the game was epic and I love the Cardiac Cats. Saw Zona in person where they barely beat Nevada. They are barely beating their opponents UTSA too. I like the Ducks but they obviously spent more time thinking about what they were going to wear rather than game planning for a cat clawing crew. That takeaway was delicious too! Mariota is a good QB but the duck program is officially in descent mode after Kelly's departure. The uniform drama reminds me of that game where BYU spent a lot of time discussing which socks to pair with their uni for a particular game awhile back. They got surprised and beaten. Dateline 10.3. If you are going to wear something ugly you better win. I agree with that assessment that ANYTHING can happen on Thursday night in college - pro game is going to be a blowout and I don't even watch. UH disaster was a tough one for them and they are in a weird place after all that excitement of the new stadium. We've been there before. FAU had their La Tech letdown. No need to worry there won't be an all SEC playoff. The only bummer about that loss is that the goofball at FSU got off the table and strapped his helmet back on. The Noles are back in the mix: Oklahoma, Texas A&M, FSU and Alabama. GMG -
Yes...First Big Time visit for our Beloved MG. The dots of Green will be small but we will be loud! GMG

I want Electricity! Oh well Indiana here we come to watch our Mean Green make history. GMG

Of course. I would like to see us play a Tarleton State or Abilene Christian. We are not competing for a New Years Day bowl slot at this point so a win is a win and did you see how much pub we got off of our Nicholls State beat down! We were all over ESPN due to the phenomenal punt return and our score was noticed by a LOT of people. I say ACU because I remember they would bring a solid contingent of purple to Denton when I started following the Mean Green back in the 80's. GMG -
Breitbart Sports has CUSA rated as the 6th best conference. The list goes, SEC Big 12 Pac 12 ACC Big 10 CUSA AAC MWC MAC SBC Indy FCS They went on to say really great things about WKU for their win over Navy and Marshall's continued solid run. I like how our Conference is progressing. Beat the Hoosiers! GMG

They look ready to explode with excitement but MTSU welcoming the new kids on the blocks with an attitude. GMG
-
I agree. They will be tougher next year and already have us circled I am sure. The new coach sure will. This will be a war of a series before the ten years run out. GMG

Billboard has been taken down in Denton.
NM Green replied to Ben Gooding's topic in Mean Green Football
I like the Creative campaign. I would love to see some of our artists, business majors, crazy sports fans, professional athletes, teachers, public servants...featured in some of the pics working their craft. I saw the same billboard on 75 today in electronic format and it really speaks to how communal our population is. Then mix in a flash ad about the Mean Green vs Southern Miss, FAU and FIU upcoming games and you may just get some casual fans up to the stadium on a beautiful afternoon. We ARE DFW's university with alum forming many veins of these great cities. GMG -
I believe the MTSU vs ODU game is on tonight and I am curious to see how that game plays out. Both of those programs are playing some good ball and the East is looking more formidable than I thought it would this year. Also Fresno and UNM will be interesting. Both of those programs are struggling but I love watching some Mountain West action, especially after taking down a conference mate earlier this year. I am watching the Appy State vs GA Southern game replay and have to admit that I am intrigued by these two new additions in the SBC. GA Southern looks legit and the fanbase is rabid. I really like the upgraded facilities and love the Field of Dreams for the kids. You put Appy State, GA Southern, Arkie State and ULL in a league and you have some good old fashion Southern football. Add in an emerging Texas State program and the SBC looks better than it did even a year ago. I could easily see the GA Southern fanbase taking over New Orleans if they win the league, and I bet they beat down whoever they line up against. That program is hungry. Good for the SBC. Picked up my Indiana tickets today and am getting pumped for a college football junkie weekend. I am looking forward to seeing how Indiana fares against Maryland. Beat the Hoosiers! GMG!!!!!
